That was awesome. I'm going to try to make the March event and try to drag Tx Lion.

Grats to Renzo for winning tourney. Props to Dennis, Wall, Brisal, and Shidosha (and any other out of town people) for their devotion to the game and traveling to San Francisco. And to the Jason, 001, Zerochan and the rest of the VFDCers that were in attendance.

I liked that the Sega rep was behind the mic. Any sign of their willingness to play ball is a good thing. The majority of the Q&A got shot down, it did seem a bit strange for a game due to be released in 4 months, but that's the usual PR strat with JP game devs. Hoping for the best regardless.

great tourney! congrats to renzo, dennis, and shidosha for their awesome play.

thanks to haunts/ipw, southtown arcade, and sega for making this event happen and giving us a chance to play on the lindberg hardware.

great to see out of towners come out like brisal (damn you taka!), the wall, and shidosha.

great to see norcal vf players gather in one place for once. :p

playing fs was really fun, it felt really fluid. i can't wait for everyone of you guys to try it. you won't be disappointed!

i hope more of you guys come out to southtown next month for the next fs tourney. there was plenty of time for casuals before the tourney and cost per play ended up being 50 cents. myself and others were able to play a ton of games and test out things we wanted to try. also zerochan was nice enough to bring her final showdown guides for everyone to check out so nobody would be left in the dark for new moves or combos to try.

and on that note...all of you should be practicing not doing diagonal input throws. get it out of your habits now while you can. busting out low throws when going for standing throws is like a donkey kick in the balls every time in final showdown. :p

    GAME OVA YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey all.

It was a fun event - holy cow didn't realize that arcades still existed in the US. Felt like old times tossing a quarter onto the machine to call next.

Definitely was a little surprised (shouldn't have been though) but there certainly was a high level of play out here. Renzo, Dennis, would be fun to see you guys play against Rodney, Denkai, Adam, Trevor etc., and the rest of the NYC crew.

Shidosha, lol, you had to focus pretty hard to beat my scrubby little Lion but it was absolutely the right outcome, and well earned. I've always irritated players far better than me.

Anyhow, was surprised at the excellent level of intermediate play as well. Haunt's Goh, Brisal's Wolf (even with all the changes!!) Jay's El Blaze, Orvenn's Shun, Zero's Vanessa (nice meeting you finally after what, 15 years) etc. Did not think there were so many people playing the game out here. We need to get together more often.

    Best,

    -Jason

Man... I already know that making this adjustment is going to be a real pain for me. But I do look forward to trying though!

At any rate, this was a fun tourney to watch last night. Plus it turned out to be a good opportunity for many of you guys to get your feet wet with the game. I wish I could've done the same.

    Those Damn Lows! Lol

I'm not gonna lie I'm used to playing tx lion, and bad seed who always punish me for crouching, so when u hit me with ThAT many lows I was thinking u were trying to condition me, even in casual play. I was a round away from going to losers when I grasped that you were committed to that - so hell yes I got salty lol. I overthaught the hell out of that match!

GGs tho to you all! Good to see all of you. [IMG]

well done folk! I've only watched a portion of the stream but I plan to sit through the entire 4 hour epic.

Shidosha, way to rep Pai. in the beginning matches I was screaming 'lifting palm' and then it seemed you heard me. [IMG]

A little experience to share with according to the tournament yesterday.

1). Exe time has been changed. It's one big part and need time to be used to. For example, all launch combo with a single P was a nightmare to me. [IMG]

    AK: 33P>P(miss) [IMG]
    64P+G>2K+G P>2P(miss) [IMG]
    JA: 6K>P(miss) [IMG]
    WO: 46P+K>P(miss) [IMG]
    TA: 63214P+G>P+K(miss) [IMG]

I also had a hard time to do AK 336PP, and some movements with a regular inputs fit to Ver.C. JA 6KG cancel is another example, which I realize now input must be a little slow to implement. I also noticed Jason tried to use LI catch throw but hard to success.

2). Sideturn position becomes more important. But to be honest, I didn't have much chance to deal with this situation cuz all of us didn't know the system well.

3). Old habits need to wipe out such as multiple TEs, easy TE is way important and it's the key to be used at sideturn situation. For example, sideturn(facing to monitor) use backward EasyTEG to avoid attack and side throw. It looks like the safest way and that's why AK guard break can be a threat. Too bad no one actually tended to bock on sideturn last night, and I had no chance to test out AK 2P+K+G>3K+G P+K> combos.

Then SEGA change move commend and property, every character can be treated as a new one to play. I personally think FS is a complete new game now, which is a good news for everyone.

It's nice to see everyone last night, and thanks to Haunt and SouthTown. However, the tournament could go fast and smooth if 2 cabs run simultaneously. 50 cents is not that bad but the other cab kept eating which sucks. Hopefully SEGA can provide more free casual play next time. [IMG]

That tourney was dope!!! Mad hype all across the board, and I damn sure can't wait to get these cats down here in San Diego on another real fighter...

I was sad I didn't see any Jeffry action, but it's all good...

Hey all, Israel (the scrub-a-dub VA player) here. This was my first time at a VF event + Southtown altogether. All I gotta say is: GG's to EVERYONE! Everyone was hella chill and friendly! Shout outs to Shidosha, CGB_Spender, zerochan, tremar, hatperson, the wall, and anyone else I'm forgetting. Hopefully I'll be able to catch all of the VF events coming to Southtown in the coming months. Maybe - and this is a big maybe - I can learn to do more than just 1P with VA XD

Lol I was so happy when I found out how to do it!

They changed it from 2_6p to 2_3p+k so I'd get weird shit! Other than inputs I feel pai is still the same from 5. I'm on a long ass bus ride back to ct so I'll tell u guys later.

Jinx- I thought about it I truely did, but they gave him new tools that just made no sense to me. I'll probable try him a bit at the next ranbat but I dont see myself picking Jeff up full time again I feel like taka has now adopted Jeffrys vf5 playstyle - again I promise to explain when I'm not typing on an iPhone.
