Reading this and then reading MasterPo's sig made me lol.

"To run from your demon is to have him pursue you. Better to advance and meet him in his world. Than to retreat and have him enter yours."

MasterPo, do not run from the Happy Demon, he only wants to bring you the Happy... (insert word that rhymes with demon :D)

I am Warrior or Veteran I think. I typically do custom match a couple times and if I don't see any good fights I just do quick match. Then I wait and fight whoever comes up unless they are kyu or low dan or known pullers. There are very few people with higher ranks so playing only very high ranked players is not really an option.

Fight me or don't, but if you are a sensei at the Chiquan shu dojo and you've made a zillion posts at VFDC, I think that you are qualified for the happy friend experience.

haha... I remember the name but we haven't fought enough for me remember the fights. If I won, keep in mind I have played a bazillion matches of VF 3, VF 4, Evo, and VF 5. I like that there are so many people playing, even if I know some will not stick around. You will find out, and may already sort of know that a lot of playing online is dealing with players' schtick. By that I mean some guys just do certain things over and over again because they beat some players with them. One guy beat me a couple rounds by dodging constantly. When I started just using only circulars he got mad and msged me that I was spamming basic attacks.

As for the other topic of backing ut of matches, I just feel a little differently. I accidentally joined the match of someone whose style I find super irritating recently. But once I did, I felt I had to fight him b/c I don't wanna be a punk. But people are gonna do what they are gonna do...

Love that attitude which I myself need much much more of. & By the way Happy, I really miss our VF5 vanilla matches they were far more fun, entertaining & intense compare to FS.

Those were good fights and you actually got better pretty quick after adjusting to the whole online thing. I think the FS battles will get better as we get used to the new stuff...

C'mon Dr. Familia, I don't run from a good beating you know me.
I do have a zillion posts and many of them tell you what a brave loser I am. That still holds. But if you remember all my
B.S. I like to control how I lose, and right now, I'm still learning VF5FS, and I don't know who said its not different from VF5 vanilla! Its different enough (at least to me),

Happy_Friend is entitled to beat me like everyone else on this
board, But I get to decide when [IMG] and at the moment I'm
getting destroyed by other Raiders, Barbarians, and Hunters. And I mean destroyed. There will be plenty of time for me to get mutilated by the Warrior and Veteran Class. I'm also cancelling out of Avenger, Shatterer, Conqueror ranks right now too. But I'll get there , we have time, VF5FS online is going no where, and I'm enjoying my losses at the Raider ranks.

No Dr. Familia, you got it all wrong, I don't run, but I would at least like to be present at my executions. Speaking of which, I don't recall seeing you online [IMG] LOL its all good my friend

I have a strong feeling that there are going to be some Epic matches on VF5FS on the PSN. I dunno about XBL, but there is some serious kick ass brewing on the Playstation Network. My prediction is that many XBL players that can switch will switch, cause I'm thinking this is where the action is gonna be. [IMG]

Dr. Familia, teasing MasterPo about running from Happy_Friend, this is fucking priceless! Stayed tuned folks,
we're going for a ride or the PSN!

That suggests the vanquisher and conquerer rank players were demoted by the top ranked player. Thanks for the info.

Somebody mentioned annoying spammers a few posts back. Am I the only person who doesn't mind them? It's a fight so if people can spam and win, then they should definitely do that. Also, if I get beaten by a spammer I probably should have known how to deal with that spam. This was kind of off topic, but I just happened to be reading these posts when I thought of this.

Lag is the problem, spammers offline will never win against me but sometimes it's hard to punish these scrubs online. We all (or I hope anyways) know how to deal with spammers.

Even with VF5 vanilla on xbox live I was always curious who some of the higher rank people were that never made it to VFDC. Maybe its my own personal ties with the site that clouds my judgment. I just assume anyone who is good should be on VFDC. Or maybe its just a dream...

Yep, Yep, If you think about it, There are roughly 13,500 registered on VFDC and there roughly 56,600 in ranked mode on PSN, many, many, many players that I've met in the last two weeks didn't even know what VFDC was [IMG] Even after I explained what it was more than 3/4 of those players had no interest in the site [IMG] I have been saying for years though just because someone is not on VFDC and doesn't know any of the ppl on VFDC it doesn't mean they can't be world class VF players. I meet so many in the two Universities that I spend time at that have been followers of VF from its beginning days, but they just don't get into the Internet thing for some reason.

Whoever that Darkslayer is, and the five current Avengers are must be some bad asses. I've been losing way more than my fair share, as some of these guys just swoop by me in the rankings. I seen a couple of cats that were Dan's yesterday and Destroyers to day. I 'm assuming there's no rank boosting going on and I'm given everyone the benefit of the doubt. But from Dan to Destroyer in less than 24 hours. alot of these cats are way way way way above my skill level. My future has a lot of lonely days and nights ahead in the Dojo mode [IMG]

I know personally about 250 VF players the vast majority are casual to intermediate, about a handful I would consider world class players, But now that I have VF on PSN I've been exposed to another 75 - 100 players that are truly bad asses, and unless you're on top of your complete game, Ouch!

Darkslayer, Conqueror, Avenger, whew.... I'll probably never make it that high. If I make it to Assassin or even Warrior I think I just throw in the towel and call it a day [IMG]

    MasterPo needs a rest [IMG]

There's a gamer his PSN is Chiomook

he only has 817 Battlepoints But his Rank is Shatterer

    Wow!

Does that mean he went straight through the ranks and never lost
    a match?

It's 4 battle points for a win so he has a least 1 loss as he has an odd number. Must be consistently beating people in his ranking group to get up there so quickly though.

VFDC is rather niche. It is also catered toward English speaking players. If you don't speak English, the site is not necessarily good for them. Many of the top players could be from non-English speaking countries that have their own community websites (Japan is a good example).

Interesting, I was thinking perhaps some of those real high ranks might be from somewhere like Japan, but so many ppl on this site have indicated in so many ways that heavy hitters from Japan wouldn't bother with consoles and even worse consoles online [IMG]

I do know one things some those cats are from LA, New York and Detroit, I spectated in a room last night for about an hour, saw some very very high level play, they never let me in the game though. Someone always out ranked me and when ever I would switch 1p-to 2p -1p I got bumped. But I guess it was all for the better, I would have probably brought shame to my dojo trying to play those cats.

I think the ranking system in this game is pretty well done. It gives newer players the confidence to go online without having to worry about ruining their record and gives them sufficient online experience before introducing demotions. And after you reach the promotion/demotion ranks there's still a lot more for better players to go through.

Overall I think it's a much better system than Tekken's - where you can get through the "easy ranks" by playing offline and therefore not gain any player vs player experience before being thrown into promotion/demotion battles.

It's certainly better than the SSF4 system. That one is just a complete crock of ****. I've never experienced anything so demotivating in my entire life, and I'm not a stranger to competitive online games (I play online on the PC).
