I play some Eileen and have the same problem on some combos.
IE [2_][3][P]MC [P] [6][6][P][+][K] [4][6][K][+][G][K][K] works well but if you start with [3][P][P] instead you have to apply a small delay before going for the Dragon kick. Timing is tight so I stick to [K][P][K]

Seems like all the combo using [K][+][G] to bound, you cannot do the Dragon kick so I stick to [K][P][K]
On TFT I stick to [K][P][K] too and it does a strange combo ender on her (she is sliding on the floor).

Another thing is that if Eileen hit the wall after a [P][P][4][P][K], no matter what you do, the last hit of the dragon kick will whiff. So stick to [3][K][+][G]

I need more testing on this as well.

Cheers, yea blaze and eilleen are a strange one, you wud think cos of their weight class that these combos would work but as I play vane as well (and her [6] [P] [K][K] doesnt connect on them in a combo sometimes) i was aware of this.
I'll try to find some other situations where they do/dont connect

After some testing you can always land the dragon kick.

For TFT you have to do a huge dash before. For wall you have to wait for them to fall almost flat on the floor and then the whole dragon kick will connect.

Kage has the worst punishment in the game. Sidestepping someone gets you what exactly? a measly jab combo, kick or two hit poke into stance or a throw attempt (Unless they just abare the fuck out of you). If i get sidestepped i eat launchers. People have just started sidestepping the fuck out of me. The risk/reward is totally in their favor. Either they get thrown or step my attack. If i delay my attack i get abare'd for my effort it seems.

Also what's with all the moves that look like they hit high but are actually mid in this game.
Also my damage output sucks. Feels like i have to guess right 4 times at the very least to win a match. Taka, Jean, Akira, Vanessa, Goh, etc. have canned half life combos no problem.

Rellik, you are right. Most non kage players dont understand what we are working with, you absolutely need twice the amount of (small victories) to accrue the same amount of damage as most characters. This is why he is designed more of a range master. Alot of people think this is shennanigans, and while it IS crucial to learn and master the close game of frames/mix-up for any character, kage has great strength in his keep away game. Use the frustration you cause your opponent against them.
He does have a very good 13frame (high) punish with [4][P][K]. For the evade punish, use [3][P][P] if they keep up their high combo post evade, [3][K] will cause side crumple if they try attacking out of side turned. And regular [P][K] does ok damage, but leaves you at +4 frames, so it is all about the follow up after the [P][K] punish [2_][3][P] (input as [3][3][P] ) will cause counter hit for launch against any attack they try at +4 , and if they learn this and just block or evade, you can throw after the [P][K] lands. Also you can transition into Shippujin from [P][K]~[P]+[K]+[G] and use SH[3][P] to stuff an attack or SH[P]+[K] if they block (+17 frames on block!)

After [P][K] you also have SH [K][+][G] as well if your opponent is SSing

If you SS an opponent [P][K] to SH is good, unblockable/unsidesteppable SH [P][P] to start with so it will lock them in place a little.

Damage wise, Kage is weak yes but he has a tons of launcher and most are safe on block.

Also, if you're opponent is a SS -> launcher frenzy without notice, you can easily lure them :
use [6][P] to Jumonji and if they SS then [P][+][K] on most character or [P][K][G] for Jean and Vanessa. I have used this tactic against a Taka player who like to do SS -> [4][P][+][K] and it was effective. Landing JU [P][K][G] on Jean is priceless ;)

After Neutral [P][+][G] throw, [4][P](hold) from this throw JU [P][+][K][+][G] against mid wake up kick, and JU [K][+][G] against low wake up kick. If they get used to it and dont wake up kick..JU [P] ....

If they do immediatly a wake up kick you don't have time to go in Juumonji. If they esitate just a little you are good.
This setup works 100% only with [6][6][P][+][G] (you must not do the down attack [3][K]).
After you have entered the Juumonji if they roll on the side or back (or just stay still) press [6_] never leaving it also when inputting [P][+][K][+][G] or [K][+][G]. In this way you are always near them and they cannot escape your wakeup pressure.

Exactly as God3l said and you rae in the same situation with [6][4][P][+][G] throw.

You can easily avoid the rising attack too. Also don't forget that rising kick after back roll is -15. It means free DPoD. I forgot it at first but I start to punish it more and more. DPoD is probably the best -15 punish on recover crouch opponent in the game.

Thnx, I experimented with this last night , worked well. Also, after a failure to land the third kick of [4][6][K][+][G] [K] after many combos you are in this situation. Which is great because I only land two kicks half the time online. Or any failure to combo from stomach crumple. I want to check on options from [3][K][+][G](hold) and [2][P][+][K][K](hold), from BT JU ,there may be time to turn or punch turn, or maybe even inputing the move from BT JU may still work..gonna check today.

Wow, great posts guys! I really need to work on my punishes and get in the habit of using [P][K] more, so these posts helped a ton. :D

Some inaccuracies with Jumonji [P][+][K][+][G]. The guide says it will reverse all mid kicks and knees. It will not reverse a full circular mid kick. Also it will reverse high kicks that aren't full circular. So using this on opponents wake-up will only usually work when they are head towards face up as the rising mid kick will most likely be half circular or linear.

cobratron, yes this is why we are listing the specific situations where this occurs, such as after neutral throw, 66p+g , after crumple-failed triple kick..etc

P.S. From [3][K][+][G](hold) or [2][P][+][K][K](hold) turning from JU is do-able , you can use the JU wake up pressure, but you must react to the situation more. Sometimes depending on a counter hit, they fall differently. And the timing is different, although the timing is always varied based on the opponents wake up choices.. Within a few more days I should have a good idea of most of the possible setups. Thnx for all the info, this is a really strong part of kage's game imo.

i get that but its still a glaring omission for the guide.

I didnt think it was omitted, it is clearly referred to , when three of us talk about which specific situations you can do this from. I guess we didnt spell it out. But otherwise , if you could JU p+k+g every waking kick, this post wouldnt make sense.

Oh, and Thanx to Kain1819 I found out the use of the (worst move in the game) [8][P][+][K], its a down attack fake out. if i land [4][4][P][+][K] , often I can down attack(big jump) but once they get used to it, they tech, or wake up quick enough(?). This is when 8p+k shines, getas them every time. I can actually use this move now. Yay!

I'm not saying that you guys omitted anything. Just that when someone checking out the Kage guide may look in the Jumonji section and read that it will only work against all mid kicks which it doesnt and that it wont work on high kicks which it can. I only added the last part of my statement in relation to your latest discussion about wake up kicks but the omission in the guide affects standing kicks too obviously.

I very rarely use 8P downed attack. Since 8P+K looks really similar to a close up 8P I think i'll add both to my gameplan. Good stuff

Holy Shiitake! Found out big deal for Kage (imo) regarding BT [7][K](buffered), since you must buffer this move you cant just sit in BT and wait to use it..unless..you go into BT Jumonji, from BT JU simply press guard to come out of JU into regular BT, this change allows you to use BT[7][K], now I can wait in BT JU, and if I want to use [7][K] I just tap guard first then input it. This is huge for me. I don't know who else uses this but, there you go.
The three ways I know to enter BT JU are [3][K][+][G](hold) [2][P][+][K][K](hold) [4][K](hold)
