VF5 System Tidbits

    Arcade version was fantastic. Console version was teh suck. Seriously, they've made them successively better. I hope Tekken 6 does well (Brian with a shotgun, though? WTF???)

    For some reason I was under the assumption that special highs only beat low punches. Do they beat all low attax? Cooleo if true. </div></div>

    A tidbit based on some testing during the Evo West sessions (I tested with Renzo, I believe)...

    With the small set of special high attacks we tested out, almost all low attacks were beaten.

    The one exception, which Yosuke had pointed out to me before (and I'm sure I posted it somewhere), is that Lion's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif can beat special high attacks.

    But aside from that, all other low attacks that we tested were beaten by the special high attacks.

    uhm scII console was the same as the arcade version SCI console was better than the arcade version. SCIII just plain sucked and it went to arcade after they reolized they screwed up by making it a console first release. Namco still hasn't figured it out and is making the same mistake with SCIV. SCI>SCII>SCIIAC>SCIII trend is looking to be SCIV going to be crap on stick unless they're going to patch it.

    I get testy with SC because I loved the game but namco is making it harder and harder for me to keep the love flowing.

    I didn't know that special high's beat almost all lows; What about special lows?

    Here is some info taken from black book about minor & major counters:

    minor counter:
    damage x 1.25

    small major counter:
    for moves damage <= 15
    damage x 1.3

    medium major counter:
    for moves damage >= 16 and <= 24
    damage x 1.5

    big major counter:
    for moves damage >= 25
    damage x 1.6

    - I think the system truncate all decimals if any, not exactly sure though.
