Well my progress bar did go up a bit when I first got the rank. It stopped at about 60%. Why would there be so many AI characters with special ranks?

Just curious, whats your source for this information?

wish you would have said that in the first place.

Still, if conqueror is the highest rank that can be attained in the game, I'm really bummed. It only took me a few days to get there, and less than 400 wins. I still have about 50% of my items to collect, but its still a bummer.

I guess I'll keep playing quest to get more items/emblems. I'm also curious if theres any more official tournaments in the game.

Try playing quest mode on a higher difficulty setting if you are not already.

I guess I just thought quest mode would be deeper than Evo, or at least as deep. VF5 actually feels a little bit skimpy on the extra features. I'm not unhappy with the game, I just wish there was a little bit more.

Ok, I won about 8 matches in a row, lost one and never received a penny. I think every time you see a sack of money appear on the opponents side that sack goes toward some count. When the count reaches its limit you get to go to a tournament or it triggers special item matches.

The biggest step down from Evo is the lack of Quest orders... even the VF5 arcade seemed to have it.

But if you think about Quest mode as simply being a tool for implementing flow charts, perfecting your defensive techniques, hit checking and executing the proper commands at the right time, then I don't think one should feel too disappointed. At least the AI doesn't rely on mind-reading, which is a big reason why VF's quest mode rocks imo.

Well I just beat the last official tournament in quest mode. Afterwards, it shows the credits, so I guess thats it. Thats unfortunate, it took me less than 500 matches to get there. I'm still playing quest, for additional costumes/money. My completion rate is only about 50% right now, so I guess theres a lot for me to do yet.

How do you know how many items are there left to collect?
Does the game show the progress with items?
I want to read only true facts, but please, lie to me, or whatever, and tell me that conqueror isn't the last rank, and that Quest mode is at least a bit deeper /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I haven't been able to confirm that its the absolute last rank. It just seems too weird that sega would make the player stop there, but the CPU can keep going.

Theres a status page you can look at that shows percentages of players defeated, items collected, and emblems collected. I think theres a total of 618 players in quest mode. I'm trying to beat an entire arcade now to see what happens. By the way, Sega Route 101 has the fewest number of players at 69. The other arcades are 80+.

Do you get exp for defeating opponents with the same rank as yours, once you reach a certain rank, or can you always gain exp for fights?
And how many items per character can there possibly be?

after winning a match in QUEST MODE is it possible to quit or return to the quest mode main menu before the "New Challenger" Shows up on the screen or do you have to wait until the next match starts and quit through the start menu???????

I think it forces you to load the next match. I've been looking for a way to do this too. Maybe you have to hold a button or something, but not that I've found yet.

At the kyu level, you get xp for every match. I think its the same for Dans. At some of the higher levels, you'll only get xp for fighting certain ranks. You'll see your xp progress bar glow before the match starts if you can gain xp from winning.

By my estimate, Vanessa has 160 total items. Keep in mind though that items count for clothing colors too. Like the same style of pants in 3 colors is 3 separate items.

I don't have the game yet, but I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with VF5 when it comes to those extra features. No online file sharing (ghost data, replays), skimpy quest mode and (although not a feature) a crappy profile system (why can't I load up my Aoi data on a USB thumb drive and bring it somewhere else to play). I'm hoping Sega did it this way so that more people would be willing to pick up VF5 evo. From what I understand, VF4 evo didn't do too well in sales compared to VF4.

oh cool. So I guess that cuts down on some of the research I have to do. My vanessa has had more than 90% win ratio through all of quest mode, so I guess that will tell us what that path is like.

I'll start playing quest with Jeff now, and I'll try to keep him at 70-80% and make note of the ranks.

    Thanks for the info!

i beat every opponent at one of the arcades and it gave me nothing, on to the next ones.
