I want profiles linked to online accounts. So if I'm at a friends house I should just be able to log into my PS3 Live (or whatever they call it) account and load up my profile.

Ah, heck yeah, I played VFR's ranking mode to death.
Coupling that to items is a damn fine idea.

    Jeneric:
Combining Quest and Tutorial modes could get rather annoying. Especially for the lesser gods among us. On the other and it forces you to use techniques that you wouldn't have thought of beforehand. It would indeed improve your skills, or at least the speed with which people pick such things up, but it would also cause people to abandon the game. Rather a double edged sword if you ask me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or just giving an option to access tutorial and training modes through the Quest menu, because in VF4:Evo, you have to quit to the main menu first and go to it that way. The jury's out on whether missions should be linked to tutorial, but access through the Quest mode is a must.

    1) What others have said. Great ideas. I especially like the ideas of having profiles stored online and on the HDD so profiles can be accessed with ease, and the idea of changing the stages. Stage modifying would be so much fun.

    2) Character-specific mini games that relate to the character's hobby as noted in the profile, such as Lau having a cooking mini game, Kage having a Mah-Jong game, Akira with a teaching game, Vanessa having a singing game, etc. A 2-player option for them would be awesome too, especially if you see both fully customized characters interacting with eachother in the game (Like both Lau's eyeing eachother all evil-like). This idea generated some heat at #vfhome, but I think a mini-game like this wouldn't kill VF purists, and it might actually attract some newbies with its lightheartedness. If it would replace a good training mode, however, I would wholly take that over playing a flower arranging mini-game with Aoi /versus/images/graemlins/deadpan.gif

    3) All the symbols available in Japan. or at least western symbols to boot, like runes or some shit. And more character space, you know. because not all of us like cheese or all that other crap you came up with /me is talking to Sega

    4) VF:TV's equivalent on an online connection. Not sure how it would work, I hope they figure something out.

    5) VF Terminal. I don't know how they would do it, but I hope they have it. Unless VF5 comes with a free touch screen peripheral /versus/images/graemlins/lol.gif

    6) adding the option to make teams or have rivals in quest mode. Doesn't have to be too deep, but it could make the Quest experience that much more enthralling.

    7) The capacity of the game to upgrade, like arcades would, with downloadable patches.

I think I could come up with more, but I would love just these. Come on Sega, pull some of that Sonic funding just a bit! The game's gonna suck no matter how much money you give them!!

How about not getting fucking booted out to the main menu every time one finishes?! I get agitated and semi-insane just thinking about that crap.

    1. A better training mode
    - I want to be able to set the CPU's action after a hit. e.i) Have CPU attack back when I hit it with a LP. There's no option for it in Evo traning mode.

    2. A better quest mode( Fix a few things that Evo quest CPU falls for, and add another level of arcade or two above the highest one in Evo)

    3. Tons of replays of the Japanese players. What Kiwie said should be fixed.

These things will satisfy me for another 5 years or so.

    Great suggestions.

The thing I want the most out of next gen VF5 is downloadable updates! If we can download version B, C whatever... then SEGA can tweak the Arcade version and simultaneously update the PS3 version.

That's what next gen means to me really. But a beefed up training mode and quest mode are equally as important. Maybe a new mode !?

I was thinking about my stage customization idea. I thought about some of the obvious stuff like changing the colours of certain items adding some stuff in the background. Also, stuff like in the Arena stage, you could give a fan a sign and write whatever you want on it (stuff like "[enter name here] sucks" or "TFT my ass"). Then there is custom music. I would love to change the music for some stages (even the music for after you win and you get a prize for something; the menu music as well). It's just that after so many times, it's nice to hear something different.

Then I thought about more trivial things like the colour of the health bars. Or what about putting a pic of me with my profile and whenever I play, instead of having a pic of Jacky or Aoi, it could be my sexy face. Or instead of switching the character pic, it could pop up before the match starts (you know, when they show all the information of the profile like wins/losses).

I play fighting games for the gameplay, not story or a mini-game. Sega shouldn't waste time on ending or CGI shit or even integrating the story line into the game (like shitty Tekken). So I just believe in adding more "stuff."

The only thing I would want is:

More customizations (X2 of the one in arcade, maybe change Jeffry's facial hair for once). The ability yo place more than one on one part of the body, maybe choose which part (why does X always have to be on the right arm?).

One extra costume for every character. Vanessa in a Business suit would rock (body guard style).

20 starting and ending quotes for each character.

More stages, customize the arena maybe the ability to make a stage.

    More AI characters.

Add more combos to the tutorial, maybe easier language/terminology (double throw escape guard blah?)

Alternate ways to unlock items for the less skilled among us...it's no fun having to abstain from a lot of items just because you can't do a single ETEG and other difficult stuff. Sure, it's supposed to be rewarding to train and up one's skills, but I don't think it's a good idea to shut out less skilled players either...just let it take some more time or something. Another idea would be quests that get easier if you fail them a certain amount of times.

    Just a thought

As much as that would be a civil service, the whole point is as you say to show off one's acheivement by having a rare exclusive item.... but no worries there's always gameshark! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I imagine that might not be unfixable if it's visible somewhere how you got it, but I guess you're right ^^;; They could have the option between a technically difficult one and a really tedious one, though (smash 50 walls or so?) or several quests of about equal difficulty, but that can be cleared with different skills.

    It would also be nice if some of the minor graphical flaws were fixed, like the animations where, for example, Wolfs high punch goes over the head of someone, or when a throw hold looks weird. I guess that might be too much to ask, though. ^^;;;

I like a lot of the ideas already mentioned, esp. Poppa's ideas, some of them are things that I've also thought would be cool. Here's my thoughts:

it seems that if they wanted to guarantee sales of the game in Japan (which seems to be the only audience they care about), there needs to be incentive for Arcade players to buy the PS3 version. Since PS3 is so expensive, they'll need to be big additions that can carry over to the arcade, which can't be obtained w/out the PS3 version.

First, there needs to be some kind of media that carries over from the Arcade to the Console. I've imagined either a vf.net card reader that functions w/ the memory card slot, or a VF stick that reads the vf.net cards. This could be used to have people fight w/ arcade characters at home, as well as for bringing the special things you unlock on the PS3 to the arcade. This could all be done on the vf.net as well I suppose, but you need a quick way to access your data when you sit down at the machine, and the cards seem most simple.

w/ regards to content that would be unlocked w/ the PS3, I also agree that Taka is the obvious choice here. Sega could be spending the time now to create and balance him as they make the home version. Make him VERY difficult to unlock, and his existance should be kept absolutely secret until someone finds him. I'd say that you have to get the highest rank and unlock all items w/ every character in Quest mode, then you can use a data card included w/ the game to unlock Taka in the arcade version for your use only. He shouldn't be available w/out the card. These cards would be numbered and matched to a serial number in the game, so that each person wishing to use Taka in the arcade would somehow have to go through the process, including buying the game.

For existing characters, I think as someone else suggested, one or two more costumes which are REALLY different in taste from the existing ones. Salary Man Kage w/ no mask, Shun in his underwear, Office Lady Aoi, Hip Hop Jeffry, Akira w/ Samurai kimono etc. Something that speaks to the fans of the characters, take to arcade after unlocking.

Items which can only be gotten on the PS3, take to arcade. Again, really special stuff, like a little Vf-kids version of your character that stands behind you & mimics your moves as you fight (I think spike-out had a character like this).

For existing characters, finishing things like Trial or Quest unlocking one or two more commands for each character, which can be taken to arcade. Or the ability to use FT's "change moves".

Stage editor, like someone else said. When you sit down to challenge someone, you can force the first match to be on your custom stage if you like. option to choose oppt's custom stage. Quest mode can unlock items for each character's stage.

On a more ambitious note, I'd like to see the PS3 version compile everything from the entire series into a "mega-mix"-ish game. Currently, we can use a VF1 character model. I'd like to see each character be able to use not only the model from each version, but the actual character from each version. If they followed this system, and brought Taka back for VF5, that'd be 113 characters!

After unlocking each model, players go on to unlock each functional version of that character, VF1, 2, 2.1, 3, 3tb, 4, Evo, FT, and 5. You can choose to keep the look of the character from the version it corresponds to, or mix and match. Looks like VF2 2P Jacky, plays like Evo Jacky, against VF5 characters. The pre-VF4 versions should have a simplified customization option, with a samll handfull of items and colors available to freshen them up.

While it might seem unfair to pit the current versions against the older ones, I think it'd be an interesting experiment of power vs. technique. The old versions have gross power, but can't Dodge, TE, Tech Roll, Sabaki, Recover quickly etc. I think it'd be so much fun. This idea could remain console only, but I'd love to see it fleshed out and balanced so that tourney play actually had characters from across versions. It's a huge project, but totally worthwhile I think. Capcom did this with the final arcade re-release of Super SF2 Turbo.

I'd also like to see the ability to fight on every stage in the history of the game, and use them in the arcade in the same way as the custom stages.

I think the best idea I'd do though is Custom Characters. Basically, you could choose a male/female character, and choose from one of the existing 17 styles. Girl versions could have a faster [P] but would be lighter, while guys would be slower, heavier but have slightly more power. So, if you made your own Mantis Kung Fu character, and it was male, it'd just be Lion w/ different graphics. If it was a girl, faster [P], less power. I think to make it work, you'd have to work within limits. So, you couldn't have a character that was Jeffry's size using Pai's style, because he'd be heavy and speedy. but you could certainly make a Black character, male, using Pai's Kung Fu; his physique'd just have to make sense w/ the style and balance of the character. A girl using Jeffry's style would be something like Vanessa in size. Of course, w/ regard to the model, you'd be able to have some freedom in overall size within the limits, so they could be a little chubby, super cut, or even skinny looking.

Face, Skin, all the things common to character editors would be of course included. The PS3 would give players plenty of time to create and change the look of their fighter, before taking it to the arcade. Costumes, not so easy to figure out what would be the best way to handle it. Perhaps just being able to unlock a wide array of clothing items that seem appropriate to the nature of the style.

Players would have to "grow" these characters from the beginning, just like learning a real martial art. In the beginning, someone playing a Drunken Kung Fu girl might be able to only use commands like [K] (no [K][K]), [P][P], [K]+[G], Hand Stand [K], etc, and only Throw with [P]+[G] and [4]+[P]+[G]. As you went up in experience and rank, more commands would become available. For example, maybe after hitting with [K]+[G] and [6]+[P]+[K] 100 times each in a Vs. Match, you'd learn [K]+[G], [P]. The idea being that frequent use of certain commands would naturally lead to blending or expanding techniques. Conversely, something like the ChouWan ([2][3][6]+[P]) would be learned at 1st Dan, maybe we'd see Shun teaching the move in some kind of short cinematic (or even just text "Shun has taught you a new art!"). At the high end of the curve, these special versions of the existing styles would be able to unlock a few commands that the stock versions can't use, unique to the male and female versions. At the same time, the new moves unlocked in Quest for the stock fighters I mentioned before couldn't be used by the customs. This gives incentive to choose which version you want to play.

In the end, I think if VF and Tekken keep getting made, this idea will happen. It's the natural next step, especially if they really want to follow their idea that "the players are the stars". W/ this system, if you like Akira's style, you don't have to be Akira per-se, but you can if you want. You can create yourself, somethign funny, something that's a tribute to a character from another game/story, whatever you feel.

This system is limit-less as well. Imagine custom items, creating costumes, using your own voice, making clothing or tattoos with your art. You could sample the voice of your favorite movie star, then use it in the game w/ a character that looks like him/her. Imagine a character that looked like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, but moved like Vanessa. You could make a character that fought like Akira, looked like Heihachi, named Heihachi Mishima.

sorry for the long post, anyway, that's what I'd do if it were my game. Give the players the freedom to create the game and characters they want to play, it'd be my job to balance it all. I think that if AM2 grew the size of the development team a little, they could totally pull these things off.

i personnaly would like to see more modes.

    TB mode,
    Team Elimination,
    Survival,

Time Attack is pretty pointless since Arcade mode already rates your Time Attack

As good as Practice Mode was, I would like to see more improvements added.
A cool feature I noticed in Tekken DR on PSP was that you could scroll to the next move on the list using the Analog nub.
That woulf be a cool quick addition to add in the next Practice mode, scrolling to the next move with the analog stick instead of pressing start, scroll, press start

    **
I agree with having alternate ways of unlocking items.
Gameplay hours used playing as a character could be also counted of an alterante way of unlocking items.

or beating a same character who is wearing an item you don't have. You get awarded that item
