I don't understand how he should be able to compete in the qualifiers then. He should be holding his breath for a Canadian qualifying match which has yet to be made official. I mean, what if he goes all the way and wins the whole thing - Team USA is going to have a Canadian represent them at WCG for VF5? I have my doubts that this would ever happen, when there's a Team Canada with or without a VF5 rep.

Canadians should not be entering in the American online qualifiers at all, imo. Just messes up the whole thing.

Flash and I had the same confusion, it's best of 5 matches. The match point is the rounds, not the games. Hell if it was only one game, I woulda been moving on lol.

You're right Llanfair. So I just wrote a support ticket explaining to them the situation.

What about Americans who are permanent residents of Canada? I did notice somewhere that you need to be a citizen of Canada to compete.

Looks like most people are confused too. I guess you should have an agreement with your opponent.

what's funnier is that not all of the top players on the ec are in this. there's still akira zero and lowsweep.

But you fukkers have so many chances to qualify (other dates & regions), that i'm sure i'll have to face you guys again. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Anyone know whether the Nationals will be online or offline? Is the grand prize really $10,000?! I tried looking for this info, but could not find it.

If you can beat the Japaneses at the world final then sure the $10,000 is yours. I don't think theirs a prize other then that

You get a nice chunk of change for placing in the top three at the nationals. And qualifying for the nationals also gets you a travel stipend (or at least it did last year.) I'm not sure if they're going to have offline regionals this year or just send everyone who wins the online qualifiers straight to the nationals. I hope they do the latter, because last year the regionals were just an annoyance, and there was barely anything to do there. Honestly, they made me travel out of state and pay for a hotel, only to find out I qualified for the nationals simply for showing up because only one other person was there. It was a relief, but also a lot of money spent by me for pretty much no reason.

Hey man, have some confidence in yourself. Japanese people are not the Gods of Virtua Fighter. Sure they've had the benefit of more experience than most of us, and they have a larger talent pool, but they are only human. If you play your usual solid game you should do just fine. But you will never win if you can't convince yourself that you're capable of doing it.
