VF5 in WCG 2008 this year

It says you have to use the default costumes. >_> I understand for in-person play how that would waste a lot of time, but does this rule really apply to the online part? I don't wanna work so hard for a win only to have my opponent say something stupid like... "Ahh... Umm.... No! You cheated! You didn't use the default costume!" -_-

Oh, and I am reading it correctly that it's best 3 out of 5 matches, right?

 

I think it's pointless to whine about whether or not you can use costumes. It's only 3 matches. I am sure you will be fine if you don't use your profile character for 3 matches. What's more important... the win to advance or a lost cause you wanted to show off your shiny sword?

I encourage everyone to just follow the rules. Also to everyone if you don't understand something... MAKE A SUPPORT TICKET IMMEDIATELY AND INFORM THE ADMINS. It's better to let them know every step of the way what issues you are having than to get caught in the dark with no time to prove your innocence. I think I have like 4 tickets going already. I don't plan on getting kick from this thing because of my opponents negligence.

Well it appears i'm signed up but I don't have any matches posted in my qualifier. Maybe because i'm in Canada and I've picked the northern U.S.? BAH!

 

Just to follow up on the Canadian qualifiers, I got a reply email today from the guy in charge of Player Support with WCG Canada. Here's the transcript:

I never got to play..I wanted to change my time but my opponent avoided my emails and msg's and he never signed on live ever. I even emailed WCG about it. I'm sure he purposely didn't answer my emails so he can get the easy win..fuck him

My first opponent withdrew weeks ago but WCG didn't bother to change his status. Luckily my opponent wasn't very hard to reach and was a nice person to boot.

I'm not too excited about my next match. His GT profile says that he's from Ontario, Canada. It could be lagtastic /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

 

How does he get the Easy win, if he never signed in on LIVE? Did you try taking a screen cap, at XBOX.COM to show he never logged in? With the emails and screen cap, you could have a valid case.

 

I've noticed alot of people have played one match and moved on. I thought the rules were first to 3?

a 1:0 score means the opponent didn't show (fairly certain on this).

UK information should be this week, but it's been pushed back already I think, definitely by the end of the month there will be information up.

If you want me to be honest, Canada isn't looking as good as I'd hoped. The budget was cut from what it was last year, still hoping for sponsors to step up though. I know we're having CS, War3, H3 and GH3 for sure while I think VF5, SC and PGR4 are all on the fence depending on if they get enough sponsor money or not. Hoping for the best though and, unlike some games, it hasn't been completely thrown out.

There will definitely be someone going to the Pan-Ams. Think it's going to be an online tournament sometime before the end of June.

they said single elimination best 3 out of 5 but the 3 out of five was talking about the round set... it never really says how many games
