Just want to mention a few things that might help.
I have been part of WCG qualifiers before and, I know some part of the structure and how things work.
The strategic WCG partner (I will call it "SWP" for short) for each represented country, can decide on it`s own the details, about the qualification tournament for a specific game. That includes on-offline play, format, allow/not allow personal pad or stick, regional to national qualifications, or just nationals date, time etc. The SWP is obligated to pay a fee (in order to BE a partner and send a team to WCG) + the national team travel and other expenses (some countries tend to include even journalists in addition). Therefore swp sees national qualifications, not just as a way to decide the national champion, but as a valuable, commercial profit. Media and commercials have, a big part in this. As most of the games for WCG are PC games, many PC companies are advertising their products at the event. With all that in mind SWP may decide not to run a certain game at all. So it basicly goes something like:

    WCG profit from Finals-commecrial&media+SWP fee.
    SWP profit from Renonals/Nationals-commecrial&media+PC companies.
Players National Champs - get all of their expenses covered, profit if they get to top 8 lol

    In short, it`s a serious business /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

If there are no quals in your country for VF5, get in touch with your SWP (if your country is included in WCG) and whoever runs official X-BOX business asap. Try to convince both parties, that there are hundreds of people that play VF5 on X360 in your country and if they include the game, there will be many participants, viewers, hype etc. It`s worth trying imo.

I think VF5 on WCG is great and will certainly make the game more popular, outside the usual core fans.

Note: The info above is from my experience 3-4 years ago. I don`t know the current conditions and details, but I doubt that there is big difference nowdays. I love the game and just want to help.

So all this means that because nobody plays VF in Puerto Rico I can't participate? Great. I love how everybody just plays stupid Tekken here. AAAAAARGH!!! This definitely is the Island of Dr.Moron.. What can I do?? Go visit friends during qualifying dates in North Carolina and register as if I live there??? Damn.. thank u PR players for being all a bunch of mainstream brainwashed zombies and ruining my chances by playing instantly gratifying crap. Any advice anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

Not really. Its impossible to bomb when there is nothing but online qualifiers.

Just a heads up for all of you VF players.

At WCG Grand Finals. Pools is one match, and after pools the tournament is single elim.

Up until then everything is normal though.

Also get ready to not being allowed to play casuals until 10 minutes before you play aswell, and I won't forget to mention how every TV they will have you play on has different speed (lag).

WCG also likes to change things on the fly so be ready for any random rules.

how can a tv have lag? I've never had the unfortunate luck to have dealt with that before.

I know if a LCD tv has a low count on the megaherz I think it is, you'll feel the lag a bit. It's only a risk in HD tvs and it's not that common for VF but can occur.

Is there any info when are the national qualifiers are supposed to be held? Or when the WCG deadline for them is? I havent heard anything from Finland yet.

(and btw Im QUITE certain we will top DOA here since DOA qualifier last year at assembly 2007 managed a total of 5 participants. )

It may lag due to conversion of the input signal. It s very well known that some early HD TVs have lag, and Ive known some of them to be unplayable even. And the latest TVs propably wont have any but some older ones may have. Some games go as far as allow to recalibrate for screen lag. (offhand I remember guitar hero only though)

I'm a broke college student so I still use regular TV's. Good to know they're still useful for something.

Looks like I'm gonna miss the first go round of this, hopefully my Xbox gets back in time to make one of the qualifiers.
