Voting didn't have much to do with it. Word around the campfire is that CGS bought the exclusiverights for DOA which in turn lead to WCG not being able to broadcast the game. This in turn made them drop it.

So everyone needs to make a strong showing, I'm really looking forward to watching the finals of this and how much life it can bring into the US scene in particular (I don't think it will have as much effect in Europe).

    Ante up ppl.

Can someone direct me to the USA Registration site, because I still can't figure out how to register for the competition...

nm... finally found the us.worldcybergames.com website and then realized there was a header-image (that sorta looked like a banner ad) for registration /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Hello everyone

I want to congratulate everyone here about the inclusion of VF5 at the WCG.

I'm not very familiar with the VF5 community so I wonder if you can answer some questions for me.

Are the Japanese players heavily favoured to win? are there people from other countries that could beat them?

Outside of the United States and Japan, how large of a community does the game have?

Are there players in Canada willing to play in the WCG, how large is the Canadian player base? Are there any particularly strong Canadian players?

    Thank you

Also, I noticed some questions posted in here, hopefully I can help answer.

The Japanese WCG is a much smaller affair than the United States or most other countries, last year saw them only sending 1 player. I imagine that Japan will only have an offline final, skipping an online qualifier. That has been the case in the past at least.

About United Kingdom - Wizzo mentioned that UK will likely be sending players for all games with the exception of Red Stone and Asphalt 3 though nothing should be considered true until it is posted at the WCG UK site.

Age Restriction - Because the WCG is in Germany this year (they have strict laws on minors and video games) you will need to be at least 16 (born in 1992 or earlier).

Australia WCG and others - As Berzerk said, fight for your game, country organizers will be scared about turnout because VF5 is a new game to WCG and will probably shy away for at least the first year so if your country is not sending for VF5 and you have a fairly large community, e-mail the organizer, post on the forums, hell, phone Sega and try to get them to sponsor the game. I've seen all of these work so give it a try.

Thank you for your time, and congratulations again

I know some of the people who posted here played in the DoA tourney, so I have a question, will they allow the arcade joystick at the live tournament, or is it strictly controller?

They allowed Joysticks in previous tournaments, I'm positive they will.

Be patient Mr_Expert, WCG UK is in planning still, expect site updates within the month though

The Japanese players would be very heavily favored.

It's good to see that they have a good 360 base of players. Personally, I hope they represent well in the WCG.

Hi MinusCA - yes, definitely there are Canadian players willing to play in the WCG for VF5. There is a dedicated following in Toronto, as well as others in Montreal. Canadian players are bit more scattered obviously, but I do know there's players in Calgary, Windsor, St.Catherines, etc., as well. It's difficult to estimate the player base because not everyone is playing the Xbox360 version. That being said, I can imagine a number of Canadian players would do what they would need to in order to compete in the qualifiers.

Are the Canadians strong? Absolutely, the Canadian players can hold their own at VF. Many of us have been playing for over 12 years competitively and I would consider some of us are above average in competitive online play with the US and UK players.

Here's to hoping WCG Canada can fit VF5 into their qualifiers. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

This is cool, I don't expect to win or place anything but I'm going to sign up since I like VF5 that much. I'm on the pacific region.

Just like someone posted earlier, are you allowed to play all three weeks or do you just choose one?

EDIT: So I register an account at the US site, but when I try to get into one of the weeks for the Pacific region it asks for registration again. Do you need another account for this or am I doing something wrong?? I try logging in when it asks for it but it doesn't work.

You make an account for the WCG site. Then you register for a time to play.

    Thank you very much

I think the USA lets you play multiple weeks, I'm nearly positive that's what happened last time, it would seem unfair otherwise.

    One more question:
Are these acceptable rules? Are these the rules generally used in other VF5 tournaments?

    - Round Count: 3
    - Time Limit: 45 Seconds
    - Max. health bar 1P: 200
    - Max. health bar 2P: 200
    - Stage Select: On
    - Commentary: Off

Again, thank you everyone, hopefully I can meet some of you at the finals this year

Edit: both Indonesia and Mexico have confirmed VF5

Those rules are standard, with the exception that Stage Select is typically set to random as well. Minus, I've sent you a PM as well.

Count me in as a representative of Canada!

Can I still be MCJ or do I have to change my name to CalgaryCityJacky? heh

The game would have been forgotten if it were not for the online play. I myself would have bought the game, play it for about two and that’s it. Online gaming is everything to this franchise. Not it is finally being recognized. Online saved/revitalized the franchise. It will hopefully gain some momentum and get the respect it deserves.

    I'll be signing up.

I did register on the US site, but I guess you need a separate 'US qualifying account' or something like that in order to register a week to play. I had to register another account basically in order to do it. I don't mind but it was kinda annoying. I feel like I have two accounts for the same thing.

Either way, I was able to get all three weeks for the Pacific region, so anyone who's doing that, see you then and good luck!

Edit: I found what I needed to do.

I signed up for one qualifier in my region, did anyone sign up for two or more? Is that legal to do?
