I have to say, I was a bit surprised that VF5 got the bid over DOA4. However, I have now picked up VF5 to try and learn how to play. I don't play fighters at all, although DOA4 always intrigued me to try and start.

I played Gears of War for MLG and WCG last year, but now that it's gone for WCG, I've decided to go with VF5 instead. After playing some online, I've been winning, but not being someone who has ever really played fighters (not since MK3 on Sega Genesis at least), I've evidently been going about it wrong. I went to the dojo and practiced some stuff, but when I play people online, they yell at me and leave me bad feedback and messages just because I punch alot. Is that really that bad? I mean I keep winning, but it seems to piss everyone off.

I mean, I kick, and grab, and other stuff, but yes most of my moves are quick punches because it works. Maybe it is cheap, but I don't really know. Either way, I'm most likely signing up for the South #3 qualifiers to try and promote this game, and get some of my friends to play it. Even though people are hating on me online, it's still fun to play. If what I'm doing is wrong, someone please guide me in the right direction. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Thanks, and I can't wait to see where this game goes!

It's good to see that the addition of VF to WCG is bringing players in. Welcome.

Most likely those who are complaining against you are the ones who don't know how to play the game. So don't worry about them. There are a wealth of information on this site about the game. Goodluck.

skootz good to see you're enjoying the game so far. Don't worry about any negativity on the internet, in any game, on any forum or XBL or anything. Just do your best to win, and learn from losses.

And wtf didn't we ban Julius Rage already?

Also I'm gonna beat Flash in this tourney while talkin mad shit. Step your TE game up!

Thanks guys. I just figured that no matter what I was doing, that a decent enough player should be able to get out of it, and do something advanced on me that I don't know how to counter to take me out.

I'm glad to see that this game has a great community behind it.

if what you;re talking about are repeated low punches, you'll get away with it on live. offline though you'll start eating counterhit elbows.

so can you sign up for each of the three qualifiers if you don't make it in one as a back up like is that the deal with having so many? To kinda get the tournament jitters out for us newbs?!

man I'm in the same region as Konjou, I'm gonna have to train really hard by fighting him, chef, plague, outfoxd, denkai, subbers, and shin akira (am I forgetting any others). I think if I can hold my own against them I'll be alright

    From the pass experience,
WCG will consider all kinds of good condition for Korean players
    first~

i hope that they are going to be more fair, just like a real world wide competition~

btw, do u guys think JP players will be serious about this event??

Hmm... I have my doubts. It depends on if they have offline tryouts in Japan I suppose, given the low amount of Japanese players who have 360s to play online with.

Base on the US VF5 registration site, the rules and stuff should be coming soon...the only thing listed so far, at least for the US site are the dates for qualifying, regional, and national tournaments.

    Hi guys,

I'm a long time VF fan, I also play DOA (and wish for the two to live in harmony /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif and I was the winner of the DOA tournament at Australian WCG last year. While I was disappointed to see DOA removed, I was happy to see VF included and was already working more practice into my game time.

BUT then the omission from Aus branch is made evident today. I have to emphasise to you guys - TELL THEM YOU WANT THE GAME

Get on their forums, grab the email address of the tournament organiser - his name is Jacob and is contactable as per this post from the Australian site:

If you have any questions, You can either email me - (jake at cyberslam dot com dot au) or jump on IRC (irc.gamesurge.net) in #WCGau you'll find me as 'JakeReazn'

I've been in contact with Jake before, he's a friendly guy. I've emailed him on this news to express my disappointment and wish for WCG to include VF as its important they do not ignore the only representation of the fighting game genre!

Last year myself and other DOA players convinced them to include the game when it was swapped out last minute for Gears of War and it was a successful tournament. The owner of the WCG license for Australia told me expressly that DOA would be in again in 2008 because it went so well, was a big crowd pleaser etc.

I see no reason not to hold him to the promise for the replacement fighting game, Virtua Fighter 5 - a fighting game tournament in this game will still be exciting and intense.

So before my post gets way too long - represent your community and make your voice heard, it can work.

cheers. Feel free to PM or friends request me on Live if you want to get organised to push for this.

Does anyone know where the regionals will be held? Specifically where will the North East/New England regionals be held?

    Thanks! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
