1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Srider,

That was the explanation I was looking for. You're in a unique postion of having VF knowledge and the opportunity to play VF5 before most people on this site. I, and hopefully many others (certainly Unsafe_Dan), appreciate it when you share detailed information. Thank you.

I recommend you post nothing when you don't feel like going into detail. I say "post nothing" because your "More accessible for new players, imo" type posts don't come with any written back up for credibility. Two sentences, like, "Top level VF5 play does not rely as much on precise defensive tech inputs like EDEG - the game can be played more so by feel and reaction than was possible with VF4. I'm betting this will translate into accessibility for the new player," would've probably been enough to define your thought in this case.

Sure, people can disagree with you - regardless, you've actually said something meaningful. I think it comes off a lot better than "I know something and I'm not gonna tell you about it. I just want you to know that I know."

    Thanks, man.

I'd be interested in reading the comments; Dead or Alive 4 received a 39 in their Famitsu review.

One thing I would like to emphasize is that the poking/spacing game in VF5 is very different from Tekken, even though VF5 could be described more as "Tekken-like." In Tekken, there is no real credible threat of throws at high levels, and crouch dashing does not have the same utility as it does in VF (i.e. no fuzzy guarding in the VF sense). IMO, these two key things make VF5's poking/spacing game more interesting than Tekken's.

My alternative recommendation would be to post a short summary, or even a one-liner, instead of a "long post".

It's like in that Lau thread, you said to ice-9 something like "it's much better now, you'll see why" about the new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Well, it's obvious now what that meant (ice-9 got to play vf5), but what about the rest of VFDC who haven't played? Don't you think they'd like to know why this move is so much better now?

    I know I would!

How about if people simply ask for explanation or ask questions poitely if they want to know more if they felt it was not sufficient like how a public forum should be. My post about Lau was directed at Ice9. I don't want to post when I'm not sure about what I want to write, or if I'm not confident about what I know at the time. Once I know more about Lau's 8K, I'll talk about it more. I'm sorry if I'm not acting in a way you guys think it's right. I suck at VF anyways. You guys should get on the case of people like Maddy or Yosuke, those with a wealth of knowledge and dedication for the game, but rarely ever posts or share.

VF5 has been out in the arcades for more than 6 months, what's so special about my opinions when there are many other people on VFDC with far more experience with the game? I think it's funny how everything I say is cryptic unless I write an essay to explain it.

crap. i feel bad. i knew you were talking to ice9 and i myself wasn't peeved that you didn't supply more lau 8k info in that post...i've seen the vids where lau gets in trouble and goes 8k autopilot & i've seen the posts about clash (thanks btw)...specifically my ass-y reply spoke to what i perceived as flossing early ownership/access to vf5. all of it really has more to do with ME not having vf5 yet. the only thing i'm wondering now is, will it get to me on the 8th or just get shipped on the 8th?

thanks for apologizing too...i didn't feel it was necessary as i was 1/2 joking anyway...i'm buying you a beer(or beverage of equal/lesser value) in socal & you and richard can lau it out...~nanny nanny boo boo~

s_aki, don't worry about it, I never took offense to it anyways. No apology needed. I just don't think people should take my posts as gospel since there are better players than me on VFDC.

Can't wait to meet up and play with you guys in SoCal! (and claim my free beer too ^-^ )

Very well written. I always thought of Tekken being more instinctive than VF which allowed for superior mind games in Tekken imo. and if this is the case in VF5 I am already loving it . I love both games but have always swayed toward tekken because of how creative you can be in out playing your opponent.

VF5 will rock in a few days /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I don't agree with the above at all. IMO VF is and was always the better game for mind games.

Tell you what -- if Inforcer07 goes into more detail than MAYBE so will I. These Tekken vs. VF posts are pointless.

Hey ice-9, I just read your topic and thought it was great. Thanks /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Seeing that I'm a beginner at VF, could you please tell me what the following means:

    1- nitaku
    2- OM
3- True nitaku does not occur unless at +7 frames
    4- Clash
    5- yomi
    6- imperfect nitaku situations
    7- 0-frame throw

    Thanks in advance /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif
