that's interesting I never knew that...if you think they will try to throw you after a blocked 6K...which move do you think would be best?

2p ^_^. it's the best tool you got for those situations.

yeah I was gonna assume that but I was thinking you'll hit their throw for a lot more damage if you do something else...but then they have more time to hit you out if they did a mid attack

    hmmm

basically im thinking... say your 6K is blocked by another Goh
he mixes up 6K and throw

    - if you do 2P you beat his throw but get counterhit by his 6K for lots of damage
    - if you do say, 6PP you will still get counterhit by his 6K if he does that but in the event that he did a throw your damage reward will be much better

    what do you guys think?

You won't be successful with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif because a throw clash will occur:

    12 < (15/2) + 9
    12 < 8 + 9
    12 < 17

Since the statement is true, the throw will clash.

A better attack to reverse nitaku with would be Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif since it's a jumping attack.

Oh I forgot about that. *_*

So I guess you can't clash with jumping attacks? that would look pretty awkward come ot think of it...

I wondered what they were talking about in the top 10 moves thread with 9K+G but now I know.

Actually, I think the reason /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif[+]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif doesn't clash is because it's an attack that puts you backturned. Almost all attacks that look like they're jumping WILL clash, including attacks like Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and Jacky's new jumping knee /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

    I see.

If you think your opponent will mix between throw / knee, then you should go with 1p+k, which will (i) clash with a throw, or (ii) sabaki a knee and grant almost as good damage as 9k+g.

If you think your opponent will mix between throw / elbow, then 3p+k is better, which will (i) clash with a throw or (ii) give you good damage if you sabaki an elbow.

If you think your opponent will mix between throw / middle kick, then 46k is better, which will (i) clash with throw or (ii) sabaki middle kick for good damage.

If you think your opponent will mix between throw / high attack, then you should go with your crouching attack of choice (e.g. 1k+g, 3k+g or 43p), which will duck the throw / high attack and likely grant a counter hit.

You should only use 9k+g if you are absolutely sure your opponent will throw. Almost every other option is safer and will grant similarly good damage.

I'm not trying to say the 9k+g is not awesome. It's actually my favorite move Goh has because it's just so silly and crazy. Unfortunately, I find it to have very limited use.

    I feel a little silly asking this but...what is 1P+K? 0_0

His /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from Evo. Knee sabaki/crumble

They give him a string out of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif so they moved the attack input.
    ----EDIT----

    Silly.

AHHHH I was wondering about that lol

    another question...

is there ever a reason to do PK instead of PK4? I looked at the frame data and it doens't look like there is much reason to use PK instead of PK4. Any time when it is preferable?

Unless it is the last hits in a match, I've never seen /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif thrown out without a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif.

There is no reason to, Goh's BT game is just... wow.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif_/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif_/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif nitaku from BT FTW.

    yeah I thought as much...

in the event I screw up and it is blocked for some reason is the PK4 safer as well? according to the frames you recover faster but you are BT which I don't know if you can guard quickly from BT

  14. Makatiel

    Makatiel Well-Known Member

If your pk4 gets blocked, your opponent's 2p can beat anything you throw out. Most likely though, your opponent will duck the k in the pk4, making your k whiff. Which is very bad.

As such, I would just roll away (6p+k+g).

I see...this isn't really a Goh question per say but...

in Tekken if your back is turned you cannot block as fast as if you are front turned
in Soul Calibur you can block from back turned just as quickly as if you were front turned

how is it in VF? more of a general system question than a Goh question...

You can't do 6p+k+g when back turn. Only side turned.

  17. danny13

Its similiar to Tekken. Its takes 6 frames to turn to the front and 3 frames from the side iirc.

    Hmmm I see...

so if the frame data is like -6 for PK it would be -8 for PK4 on block?

frame data says PK is -6 on block and PK4 is -2 on block, so I assume you would have to add 6 frames to PK4 in order to block right?

  19. danny13

    danny13 Well-Known Member

Although it takes 6 frames to turn around, turn around moves like Goh's P, P+K, 2+P etc ignores these 6 frames.

So say Goh does PK4(-2) and Jacky block and do elbow(14 frames exe), Goh's turn around P which comes out at 13 frames (11 frames plus the -2) would beat Jacky's elbow.

Aoi's 4K+G which leaves her backturned and -7, guarantees a 2P by her opponent as -7 plus the 6 frames to turn around equals -13, even if Aoi just hold guard. Of cos if Aoi attacks with any of her turn around moves, she would be MC.

Lion's 6P+K which leaves him at -3 would be able to us his turn around K(11 frames exe) to beat elbows and also able to hold G to guard opponent's P or 2P.

alright got another thing I'm wondering about

I've noticed in a lot of videos when Goh players do 33P+G > ground throw the ground throw is missing a lot. When I played I did not have a problem with it but I've seen it happen so much in videos that I am suspicious that it is less reliable now. Is it less reliable now or are they just doing the ground throw too late?

im not talking about it being broken, rather I'm talking about it missing completely
