Less throw direction mean less TE options. you can't have a person input 3 TE commands making his chances of escaping 100%
Damn why is this such a big issue?

I honestly like the changes with the throw escapes. This makes it easier for new players to concentrate on the guessing aspect of escaping throws rather then just giving up when they can't get accustomed to the execution aspect of escaping more then one throw at a time. This is also a good change to lessen the gap from the top players from the intermediate players which was something VF needed especially in Japan.

Players that feel special because they had the dexterity to escape 4 throws at a time will no doubt complain but chances are those players will continue to play the game anyway

JUMPING!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been far too long. I can't wait to see how exploitive it can be. I know it was frowned upon in Japan but man was it fun experimenting with some bizarre shit.

Jacky could have so much fun with this in VF3. Going into BT, jumping backwards with a kick, hitting the opponent on the way up even though your kick is going the wrong way, then coming down with another kick, and then a flipkick, ALL FROM THE WRONG SIDE!

I did notice however that they pretty much fixed all hitboxes in VF5 so they don't hit from the other side. Shun was great with doing this in VF4 with his upsidedown kick. The back of his heels would hit the opponent.

    Man, can't wait!

LOL! I'm sure exploits will be at a minimum, but if jumping does bring some foul play, don't say I didn't warm you if you become tempted! =D

I remember Shota once said while Air Jacky and I were in Japan playing VF3TB that we should not jump as much because it's considered not respectful. I admit I didn't see it much but I did see Chibita use it once and awhile.

The best ever though was when Air Jacky was down to the last round with an extremely good Wolf player, Air Jacky had no life left, Wolf had just under half. To make it worse Air Jacky had his back to the edge of the ring. He ended up doing the combo I just mentioned in the previous post for the win. Shinjuku Jacky turned to him with a HUGE smile on his face and congratulated him. You could tell he thought it was pretty funny that a foreigner used that to beat a very good Japanese player. But he still knew to give him props!

Nah im just kidding but i wish i could see a video with Air Jacky doing that. they that a lot of the jumping moves have slamdown properties so maybe in certain situation they can be useful. At this point i love everything i see about the whole game. No complaints here. Im ready for the vids to start piling in now with other characters. I hope sega don't let us down.

like i said im really not trying to bait or talk shit but genuine question.

if you can only escape 1 throw, then what is the point in ETEG? Why not just just do 1 TE and block? It maxes out your defense against throws and attacks.

Why is Sega only allowing the test to be in one location in Japan?

Options!!! thats what made VF unique. There was'nt just one way to play the game Fulaan.Since successful evades Leave you on a opponents side automatic in FS. You might want to open up offensively with a evade while still protecting against your opponents strongest throw.. Once again its options Fulaan thats all. You can still Block if you want but some people choose to Evade.

Like Skatan said i think its bad if u only have 33% chance to escape throws.2 TE gainst 3 directions so its 66% sounds much better to me.And they totally eliminate ETEG with that....is it really so hard to do multiple throw escapes 4 u guys?Ok 4 TE during evade needs a bit practice, but everybody should be able to do 3 TE during evade! Its not even difficult.Damn.It would be cool if u can escape at least 2 out 3 directions.Please!Please!66% is nice.C'mon everybody is able to do 2 TE

Anyway, its the next VF so it will be a good game.Sega I hope u know what to do at this years TGS.

Just my thoughts on some of the Wolf stuff. All speculation.

Frankensteiner was removed in R. I think the SW now replaces Flying Zero or whatever move was done with [9] [K]+[G] in R.

It's actually a Falcon Arrow, but that's me being anal. I actually think the RAW -> Catch and [4] [K]+[G] throw both go into the headlock position, and from there, you can do the different suplex throws (Falcon Arrow and Jackhammer), or it might be like Goh's Tsukami with the movement. This is still just me speculating at the moment though.

Also, in the Wolf/Jacky vid, it looks like they've replaced Wolf's neutral [P]+[G] chop with a neckbreaker.

Finally, I get the feeling we'll get a choice out of the 3 VF5 stage variants (like you could in Evo) since one of the Eileen stage vids was in her original VF5 version.

Although they'll probably deny us Sarah's R stage just to spite me.

Falcon's Arrow? Oh ok thanks i really did'nt know what the name was. As far as im concerned thats some good ass speculation Ash. Yeah the neck break is a nice replacement. I guess they want to make wolf more visceral also.
Now if we could get the three variants to the stage i'd be in heaven along with the music. Sega is on the right track to making this game more accesible and newcomer friendly. I love options and Sega is supplying them.

The joystick icon is still there.

No multiple throw escape has been comfirmed?

I can't convince myself that Jacky was just randomly guessing.

Btw, thx for the videos!! MORE PLEASE!!!

Personally, I am VERY happy about no more multiple throw escapes. I hope it sticks past the location test. Dennis, its not that amazing tbh. I have old videos of me and kris amico playing vf3 in 97 and there are plenty of throw escapes from each of us even though in that game we could only escape 1 direction or at least 1 direction and neutral.

I don't understand what the big deal is. If you think the opponent is gonna throw, you should be worried about counter hitting them anyways. NOT eteg.

    Re: VF5:FS Location Test Impressions

I don't see why people were wondering why the joystick icon had gone. It appeared in a few places in the second FS video showing some of the new moves.

Some of the FS music is okay, some is dire and Akira's is pretty good. I still prefer the R stuff though.

PooPoo for you we pay developers bills. The comedy is I know some casual VF players that can probably beat some of the hardcores on this site.

My thoughts too. Normally I'm not down with lowering the execution bar but in this case I find it suitable because it maintains thinking. I mean shoot, you tend to hear about some top JP players opting to do just one TE as is. This may even encourage MORE thinking than before when you could just buffer out say, your opponents top 3 options based on damage and location.

Really digging the new jumps. They look weird cause I'm not use to it but they look way better to me than the jumps in previous 5's.

Really liking the stages for the most part too. I thought they got rid of the octagon and narrow stages, but guess not, and hope I get to experience them on console.

I'm kind of with Rodnutz on the music. None of it seems -terrible- to me per-say but kind of weak coming off the heals of R's music. But I'm fairly certain they'll include retro tracks and tracks from R in the final build. The music selection seemed like a huge success with fans in R, so I doubt they'd just ax it at this point.

Oh, and while I'm liking all of the additional moves and animations so far, Jacky looks more fun than he's ever looked already.
