I didn't say I expected to beat everybody, I said I wanted to get good enough to 'not lose every round'. There must be some people who only play the game casually because they got dragged to the arcade by someone for one reason or another...right? Possibly? Maybe I could at least get a round on someone who is sandbagging.

The really frustrating thing is, I'm infinitely better at fighters than everyone I know in real life; with the exception of one guy who basically only plays 3rd Strike, and I haven't known him for very long. If I had, you can bet I'd have played a lot more 3rd Strike, because the more I play fighters online the more I realize that I kind of hate playing fighters online. Ranked matches are especially bad, because you're always playing to win, and if you're always playing to win it's tough to actually learn anything new.

I know there is no quest mode in fs, but what is special sparring?

there you go, you answered your own question. maybe, instead of thinking how much you are going to win in the arcade, try to focus on more concrete goals like "learning to fuzzy" or "learning to hit check".

Ranked matches are also bad because there are a ton of very clueless players who go there because they wrongly think they will learn faster. So you either end up facing strong players with tricks that you can't deal with, or people who absolutely do not belong there yet, and in both cases you don't learn anything because it's either too advanced or too basic.

Indeed ranked is crap, but you should not judge online play by that. Normal matches are where it's at.

I think we also learn MUCH better by playing the same person several matches in a row. It really helps draw a clear picture of what their character can do.

Ok, some clarification. The game will only come with 2 costumes. Some of you are saying 6 costumes, and yes the game has 6 costumes, but without DLC you can only access 2 costumes. This has been confirmed.

As for companies not being upfront, I think Sega has done a pretty good job here of letting us know what is in the game. I don't think you can really say that they are keeping things from us.

They could easily have let us buy the game to find out what was in it but they are letting us know everything.

To be honest, after playing FS I think Fuzzy guard is less important than it was in Vanilla. Throwing is actually quite risky without the throw clash and you need to give your opponent a good reason not to abare so they become more viable.

Added to the fact that more of the game is spent outside the shortened fuzzy windows, i think overall decision making will play a greater part, rather than skill with option selects.

Moving to the side looks like it'll play a much bigger part in this, it's something Chibita mentioned that he liked in FS. Moving to your opponent's side via OM seems a less risky option than throw when your in advantage. From there the risk/reward of a correct guess is far more in your favour.

When throws get beaten by attacks in FS does it act as a CH?

This is correct. I confirmed it with Frank the Sega Rep at UFGT8.

In addition, the other things/options that are not available with the base game are:

Special Sparring Mode - is not available until you purchase all the DLC Items (I believe this has been posted). This mode have AI characters with names of people that submitted at an an entry "Name your opponent" contest. So far from what has been seen, this is the single player mode that have customized AI characters. You can select from a list of themed matches against a group of customized AIs (for example "chefs", "knockout", etc.

The customization terminal is not available until you purchase a costume pack.

Taken together with what Myke said about the sparring mode in the Gamespot vid it sounds essentially like quest mode just without any unlocking of items. I hope the AI's even better than before, I'll be looking to get a lot of practice in that mode.

Doesn't look that way in FS, barely see it in vids.

Why do you think that is? What about the game has changed that makes fuzzy guard less important? Is it because you can abare out of a lot of situations?

I'm sure ranked matches are fine, if you don't wanna play them them so be it. I personally think there is much to learn from playing top shelf players, you can't really get better facing limited competition or players you're already better than. Anyways we get the game, we get online, no complaints [IMG]

I'm not sure without playing it, i've watched a ton of vids though and it just doesn't seem to be used much in high level play.

I guess -2 to -5 isn't that big of a deal with the lazy TE system being there.

Really? Wow, I feel sheepish hahah. I really thought all 6 costumes came with it. I apoogize for throwing wrong information out there. Feel free to edit my earlier post from saying 6, to a 2. It's too late for me to edit now.

A good reminder for me to get facts straight before posting.

Do you guys know if it's gonna be a worldwide release next week? I'm asking because i'm start to think that SEGA is not gonna release the game next week for South America.

I'm asking for SEGA on twitter and they don't answer me, maybe if you guys know someone from SEGA, please ask this...

Golden Axe and Street Rage are released at the same time as USA and Asia. I think FS should be a worldwide release too next week.

At UFGT8, one of the Xbox used was set at 1020P. That caused some latency issues. The next day, the Sega Reps adjusted it to 720P. That fixed the latency issues.

On the page before your post...
And i stand by it. Abare is riskier, because of the damage possible from CH, but also more rewarding as there is no clash.

Attack>>>Throw>>>Guard>>>Attack is more important in FS. You have to make your opponent want to guard before throws can even be considered.

Fuzzy is a great option select against mid/throw, but a good guess is more rewarding. Also, Fuzzy carries it's own risks. A lot of characters have guard breaks in FS.
