I think when the game was officially announced for Jun 5th and Jun 6th, it was assumed that it will be released worldwide for everyone simultaneously (based on what Sega have told people).

The Xbox links posted are just another confirmation.

So I watched Mykes vid on gamespot and I was wondering for single player there is no Quest mode or any kind of ghost mode? So how do u collect items? From online play and vs only? And the DLC items. When u purchase everything just appears instantly right? but what about the disc items...you have to unlock them during vs at random times? SEGA announced 600 to 950 items DLC per character. Anyone has the count of items already on the disk per character? I would like to know the overall count. Thanks

There are no items that come with the game, everything is DLC.

If all you buy is the game then all you get is the game and the 2 default costumes. Everything else is DLC only and is available as soon as you buy it, no need to unlock anything.

Quick question, Is the in-game commentary in the game as well? I've heard it so many times in the youtube vids that it grew on me.

Thanks @V2011. I sure will miss the intensity of a random vs item battle. Can you provide the link that u got that from?

SEGA announced it, you can google for articles if you like, but there really is no point because VF2011 is correct.

So this went from 'only custom outfit pieces are DLC' to 'every piece of clothing aside from outfits A and B are DLC, and so is one of the few single player modes'? Ug. I'm absolutely buying this no matter what, but the general internet gaming community is so angry about companies 'lying' and having to pay extra for things 'they already own' that I can't see this boding well for the game's overall sales.

Also, I only have like $20 to my name right now, so I'm going to have to put off getting the DLC. [IMG]

First of all, there's 6 default costumes.

Second, all the items are DLC, not unlocks. If you don't have the DLC, you won't be able to see it on other people. No one already owns the DLC.

Somebody just said you only get the 2 starting outfits without the DLC. Which is actually true? And while we're on the subject, does anybody know, I mean ACTUALLY know (and I realize this question has been asked about a thousand times, but I've never seen a REAL answer, but guesses) if we're getting the R stages or not?

Also, in case you misread my post, I, personally, am buying the game, because it is a very good game, and worth full price easily. However, recently the general population of people on the internet who post about fighting games (not me, but the people I inexplicably subject myself to on a daily basis) has not shut up about DLC, and how 'greedy' companies are, and how wrong it is to charge us for things 'we already own' (not my words).

Given the already poor attitude of most non-VF fans regarding this game (the vocal ones anyway; 'this game is like 10 years old, and I could already get it for like $5 with a disc why would I buy this, there's only one new character and still no story mode') I feel like this breech in communication is just going to give it more bad press.

I'm sure someone can/will elaborate further. But while i'm here and bored, i'll respond.

You'll get 6 outfits for each character with their default clothing when you buy the game only.

R stages was asked in an interveiw, while they said "never say never", we aren't getting the R stages with the release. But the possibility of DLC for them is there, even if it may be very small.
    ----------------------------------------------------

Now, onto them people you were talking about.

Yea, people complain about DLC on release day. But, 1. This isn't a disc game, and we're not paying $60 for the game, then extra for DLC. There is a size limit for the arcade releases, so the items had to be left out. And to be real, we're getting a $60 game for $15.

    2. The DLC for this game gives each character 600-900 items to customize ones character. There's 2 DLC bundles for 1200 points each, one with all those items for 9 characters, the second with the 10 other characters (or 400msp for each character if bought one by one). Now i'm not sure exactly what you get for DLC for the other fighting games out there, but my guess is that their DLC doesn't offer a 1/4 of what we will be getting for the 1200msp bundles. That's something I don't think the people complaining have a grasp on yet. And/or they're stuck on the 400msp per character and not realizing the bundle deal.

I know/think in SF 3rd Strike, DLC is 1200msp and you get like 5-6 new colors for each character. While for this, for that same price, you get 600-900 clothing and accesory items for EACH character in whatever pack/bundle one bought. Nuff said.

Now lots of people usually buy the game for $60, then extra whatever for the DLC. With this, the game plus all the DLC (when bought in bundles) only cost $45. Game and an extra 14,000+ items. $15 cheaper than your average base disc game without DLC. It's pretty hard for me to think how one can even form the words out their mouth or even think anything negative against that. Or that we're getting ripped off. Really, they're (SEGA) getting ripped off lol. Nah i'm kiddin, but we're getting an unbelievable deal.

Last, yea this game (VF5:FS) initially came out a couple years ago or whatever. But it's been through a lot of very detailed tweaks and balancing that it's not even the same game anymore.

Can VF possibly get worse press it already had? we know that the fighting game community is not composed entirely of people who have time for all the fighting games out there. I personally hate when people shits on DOA5 at this early stage. In regards FS...I think you have two options:

    a) wait 1 week to get the game and then decide yourself whether or not there are enough costumes in the base games, or if you want more of them.

    OR,

    b) keep reading shit on the internet and then come here worried that this game may/may not be popular/sell enough/ have enough flash to steal some customers away from capcom games.

IMO, a) option all the way man. who cares what other people may think about DLC...in a week time we will be playing this so hard our knuckles will be bleeding...why even stress about online trolls?

Because the games I REALLY like always wind up horrifically unpopular. Oh well, I'm just going to have to take full advantage of the week or two after the game comes out when there are actually people playing. I might be going to Japan in the fall, I hope I can at least get good enough to not lose every round at the arcades...will people still be playing this in arcades by then?

Also, no R stages, huh? That's unfortunate.

Devdan, you think in a few months you are going to japan and beat the guys at the arcades? LOL

you do realize that this community, VFDC, is composed of people who have been playing VF religiously for the best part of 10 years? even I, a mediocre player, have accumulated thousands upon thousands of matches online in the past 5 years. I dont know where you get the idea that in a week or 2 you are going to be either good enough for most people on this site, or not playing the game at all.

In short: get ready to enjoy the game for a long time to come. if you are green, you will have a lot to learn, but its ok because you can always ask me, or anybody here, for help/games/whatever.
