Awesome news, but with the release date being a year from now, this makes me think Sega just recently decided to port this game. Now it's on us to get others hype about this game so it will sell well and we can show Sega that their IP is important to the world outside of Japan.

Maybe now would be a good time to let Sega know that we'd be willing to shell out for certain DLC patches? (old stages, music, extra item packs, soundtracks, etc)

Wow. I haven't been on this site in like 4 ever. Thanks to Facebook I stay up to date with virtua news. This is by far the best announcement like ever! Mk9 is nice SSF4AE is nice MVC3 is nice but all fall in comparison to my beloved VF. Can't wait! Sega u motherfukers thanks u!!!!

The summer '12 date is likely because FS is still getting updates in the arcade and Sega traditionally doesn't release a version until they think they've milked the shit out of the arcade version.

The series, and arcades in general, have really died off in Japan compared to even just a few years ago.

Maybe they are going to see how well this does and determine if a VF6 will ever be made?
