    EL_Brisal73, good work on organising this. I hope it works out and everyone has fun. Who knows, maybe you'll start up a trend that many would like to continue? However, if I may, I have a suggestion to make for your scoring system.

    With your Round Robin (RR) format, I think it's possible to get skewed results if you simply award a point for every round won, and nothing extra for actually winning a match.

    Consider this simple example with three players A, B and C playing RR:

    A beats B 3-0
    A beats C 3-2
    B beats C 3-2

    If you go by matches won, then your ranking should be:

    A (2 wins)
    B (1 win)
    C (0 wins)

    But if you go by your scoring system, then your ranking becomes:

    A (6 points)
    C (4 points)
    B (3 points)

    and I think this ranking is not accurate. Player C didn't win any games, yet he ranks 2nd! Wins should carry more weight over rounds won, because ultimately, winning is what matters in a tournament, not how close you are when you lost.

    I'd suggest the winner gets 3 pts and the loser gets only 1 pt for any round(s) won, and 0 pts if no rounds won. The above would then look like:

    A (6 pts)
    B (3 pts)
    C (2 pts)

    This is very roughly a 60/30/10 spread for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place which is how prize pools are commonly split.

    Just a suggestion from someone who is unable to participate due to lag.

    this is a good point mate! when i played my RRT with brian, i won 3 of our 5 matches. however, we both still ended up with 10 pts each because we both won 10 rounds total!!! I SHOULD HAVE EARNED MORE POINTS THAN HIM!!! >=O

    to back up your suggestion even further:

    on our last match, i had to win 3 rounds in a row just to tie 10 pts with brian. HAD THE SCORE BEEN 3-2 WITH ME WINNING THE MATCH, BRIAN WOULDA WON THE ROUND ROBIN WITH THE SCORE OF 12-10 DESPITE THE FACT THAT I WON MORE MATCHES!!!

    Yeah, that's messed up! The current scoring system is way too rewarding for people who cannot win matches /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif People who win more should always rank higher than those who don't!

    First thing first MYKE fix the DAMN SITE. I couldn't get on earlier today and Internet Explorer access hasn't worked in a 2 months /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Ok second, the Round Robin Event is just a seeding event for the next Tournament and is based on rounds and not matches. So everyone can play 15 rounds and keep track of how many they win out of 15, but I figure it would be easier to play 5 matches and keep track of each individual rounds. Which in turn can make playing each player in your bracket a bit more competitive.

    Example, Chief and I were tied 10 and 10. Chief plays Yucky and is now up by 14 rounds. I will now have to win 15 rounds to pass Chief which makes the Yucky and Brisal match a bit more exciting

    The original idea was to go by matches, but there were better opportunities for all players to get points by rounds and not matches.

    So anyways for this event we will stay with how the points are determined and for the next one I might change it.

    Btw ..why don't you promote local or online events on the front page. Having the same picture up talking about VER. D for 2 months makes the site boring.

    Firstly, if the intention of the RR is to seed (i.e. rank people!), then your scoring system is flawed and I pointed out why so I won't explain it again.

    But if the intention of the RR is to reward people who can't win matches, then you're on the right track. Frash beat you 3/5 games yet somehow you both come out 10-10? That makes no sense, and the system does not accurately seed.

    Secondly, I like how you respond to my suggestions with criticisms on the site. Nice! In response to your criticisms:

    1. I'm happy to promote events on the site if people simply follow instructions on how to get their events promoted in the Tourney forum.

    2. I don't think anything has been globally news worthy since the Ver.D announcement. If not having regular news ticking over makes the site boring for you, well, I think you're missing out. It's like complaining about how small the tip of an iceberg is.

    Unless you provide me the source code to the IE browser, then I cannot fix problems with IE.

    The only way to accomodate IE users (until microsoft fix their broken browser) is to disable the Shout Box for everyone. I think the majority of users that currently frequent this site wouldn't want that. Or maybe I'm purposely trying to alienate users from this site. Yeah, that's it! I pay $50 USD/month to host this site with no ads purely for selfish reasons and to ensure that VF remains as unpopular as possible!

    Nice job on the reply again, and totally ignoring the problems with your scoring system. But why would you change a system that makes you look equal to someone when you can only beat them 2 games out of 5? Can't your ego handle it? HTFU.
