Day Job Throw Set Up List.

*b+p+g,RD,DJ (this set up works well vs a standing opponent because they will have to lose frames by turning around right into throw)

*b+p,k, hit RD,DJ (On hit this works well vs Standing opponent

    -df+k+g, hit, RD,DJ.

These are a few basic set ups I have been messing with . I have also been messing with this one set up from RD,p using tech roll to stand up into dash low grab.

As for flash I am also compiling a basic to intermediate flow Chart with El Blaze's useful moves. Without record feature I will have to wait to confirm on hit flow charts but on block I can get the basics done by myself.

For future reference that move is called a sunset flip. I only say this because it's one of my favorite wrestling moves.

An extremely useful one is defensive move /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (MC) -> discharge -> day job... If this major counters you are forcing a 2taku on your opponent between low punching you out of the day job or ducking to block the low drop kick...

Somebody else translated the move as "Deja Vu", but I like Day Job more... Hit that on somebody and its all like "don't quit your day job"... yea nevermind :p

I started using Blaze today and I am not impressed at all, lot of flash but probably a very weak character. I am going to keep using him for a couple more days and see what happens but on very hardest level setting I get pounded by Jacky, Sarah, ect.
Not much I can do but cheese the AI by throwing them all the time.

sorry for being ignorant, but does "spike" mean to bounce the opposing player off the ground? i ask because i could not get the 9+p+k,k (demon dance to demon tail) move to bounce or refloat the opposition. it did cause a stagger though.

does it mean i have to hit with something first, causing a float then hitting demon tail to spike off the ground. if so, what are some good set set ups to do so? or will something like k while rising, p set this up easily?

sorry but i am new to virtua fighter and could not find the term spike in the faq glossary.

*edit* i was able to do a ground bounce but only on counter hits, still don't know what to follow up with though

*2nd edit* 8p+k looks to have ground bounce too at least on short characters.

sometimes you have to delay the timing to get the rebounce, try delaying the hit and see if that works.

Usually, the opponent has to be in some kind of hit state before they can be bounced. Most head crumples, stomach crumples and side crumples are what I recall where bouncing was possible, as well as already being in the air (from a launch say).

I don't know, that nitaku sounds pretty weak. If the opponent sees you RD, he can kill 90% of your options by crouch guarding. It's pretty obvious when someone whiffs the Day Job (and leaves you open for retaliation big time), and El Blaze's mid options are pretty limited, which is what your opponent counts on. Against a person who turtles against you, you generally just have to be the better poker in order to win a match.

But that's if you go for the really flashy stuff. The Fake Roll from RD is great, especially if you mix it up with the follow up /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif(/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif), with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (fishing for CH), and 0 frame throws (high or low). Sometimes you can just run by your opponent, but other times, after having installed some fear with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, I do an empty /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and attack from BT with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. I usually set up RD from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, I'm trying to find better ways to mix it up, though.

And finally, I noticed that the Command list doesn't say what things /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif sabakis, but I know for a fact that High Kicks and High Punches are susceptible. Not sure if it guarantees the follow up though (it's a lot harder to test these things by yourself now that we don't have the record feature...)

Let's keep this thing going, I wanna hear more.

If you are at a large enough advantage when you discharge (ie a major counter dodge attack) the opponent can NOT duck the day job... They have a choice to either try to punch you out of it (leaving them vulnerable to the low drop kick) or crouch guarding (which would block the low drop kick but would not cause them to duck quickly enough to avoid the day job)...

It is a bad position for your opponent to be in...

If your opponent consistently ducks when you discharge try:
-guard canceling the discharge when you get close to them and low throwing them
-not discharging and low throwing them
-dodging and then low throwing them (would avoid any counter attacks)
-fake roll and then low throw them

Thanks for all that info! I didn't know that Rocket Discharge was so powerful after MC...

Sorry for doubting your nitaku /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

canceling the rocket discharge and throw/low throw is a very very powerful technique.

How do you fake Blazes regular kick? I am trying to cancel it with guard but that never cancels the kick. Is there a special frame requirment?

I agree with Super, hitting DM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif gives you a ton of options.

It's not only based on your actual frame advantage but how you're opponet is conditioned to respond to being hit by DM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, not only from Blaze but from other characters. For characters whose DM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif doesn't knock down but leave them at advantage a player may be used to dodging or backdashing, which will get hit by the RD /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Once they realize they keep getting thrown they'll attempt to hit you out of RD. If they do this with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif you can hit RD /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. (When you have advantage RD /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif will beat /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) If they anticipate RD and try to use a bigger move to hit you out of it you can not enter RD all together and use a launcher like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead.

Mixing up various RD and non-RD followups after a successful DM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif works wonders. This is field tested by myself against many opponets in the arcades here. Super and I ain't talking theory fighter here. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I hit guard REALLY REALLY REALLY EARLY and it still never works. I will lab it some more....... The kick you can fake is just regular kick, right?

On a side note, Blaze is an awesome character to use, I am having alot of fun using him and I am starting to learn some mind games with him. I suck at the game but I am learning some cool stuff.

Try hitting /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif... The kick will be canceled...

I'm not sure if you can cancel his standalone kick...

as far as I know you can't cancel his standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif but you can cancel the kick in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif by hitting /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

This is for every El Blaze players who wants to be the best El Blaze player.

    1. Don`t forget to punish throw missed for Shadow Hammer as possible!

SEGA allowed only El Braze players to use this crazy movement which named Shadow Hammer.(14F High attack, Disadvantage -9)
It is very useful for guarantee especialy throw missed.
Can you tell me other move better than Shadow Hammer for guarantee to throw missed?
Fortunately El has a lot of move which can dodge when it was garded. It become a great weapon if you can use it deliberately!

    2. Don`t become too logicaly when you play El.

On VF5, frame is very important thing. I think it`s true, but sometimes we might be move more frexibly with ignore the frame. I think it`s also true. For example, El has a meny derivative moves. If you have a sure your opponents try to wait next move, you can throw them even you have a disadvantage. I know some players who likes only book learning, hate this playing. You don`t need to listen their words.Just ignore. In my oppinion moral players are good, but if you want to be real moral player, you realy need a good reaction. If you don`t have a confidence for your reaction, how can you make win with same theory and book learning? Don`t be afraid and play more frexibly.
