This is based on character usage, not their overall ability to kick ass.

You will kick a ton more butt with the stuff Shun has now, btw.

Meh, Shun is a tank now. I liked his VF4 persona much better. It just felt like you were manipulating his movements to shake your opponents up. Now is about like: "rainbow sabikaikbikahki, Lawls!"

I too am surprised to see Sarah at such a high rank. I guess AM2 will now be thinking the visual changes they made to here were good. ::sigh:: Sarah was never about the panty shot, its really sad even VF had to exploit such aspects. Had Yu Suzuki still led the team, I think Sarah would have retained more of her badass persona, realism, and dignity for that matter. Such a same.

Anyway, were there, and if so how were the last of the FT lists looking compared to this?

vf4 had such a greater imaginary structure to me, the items were more "background orientated" and the characters portrayed much different attitudes. i think aoi's personality in vf5 is so extreme compared to vf4. i also think wolf has become more arrogant /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif and goh is surely more sinister. as for shun, i really like his new moves, and find his new stances greatly benefical. i think out of most characters in this game shun is the only one that has stayed true to his nature so to speak, he's still portrayed as a very drunk old timer, who you cant help but love /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif though i feel in vf5 he has much more zest than in vf4, where he seemed a bit too relaxed. (probably too drunk)

It's a good thing that my character Sarah is at a top 5 rank, I'm not suprised that Akira is second, he's always been a top-tier character.

This list is from 12/31/06 and Sarah fell down and is now, along with Aoi, on the bottom tier. Akira's popularity has also slipped from there.

This is a chart (edited with English translation by me) taken from Katagiri's page on virtuafighter.jp(#21 section).

I believe "shougou" is the "named" ranks.

Why dah blackish people always gotta have no usage?
Damn they lightened up Vanessa and she STILL gets no love.
(This sarcasm btw, I think in the US Jeffry/Van usage is
much higher) That would be interesting though, put up a
pole on character usage on here? See how many players we
got per character kind of sorta.

    Just a thought.

(They do sho lov dem' what boys doe)

Is there a more recent table? I think El Blaze and Eileen are so high because this is when the game was still pretty new.

It looks as if Japan is (almost) the complete opposite of the West. Goh is everywhere over here but he was almost the least popular on this list. Lei-Fei would easily be first here with around 25% of all players choosing him (not good ones, just general players).

From what I've seen (online), Lei-Fei, Akira and Goh are the most popular while Eileen, Aoi, El Blaze, Sarah and Vanessa are rarely seen.

When the game was first released on LIVE, Vanessa was everywhere and now Jeffry is quite popular despite seeing virtually none early on. Obviously this is just my experience, some of you may have different results.

I think most of you can agree that there are hardly any Aois on LIVE though.

I would've thought Shun would be more popular there. I thought there were a lot of Japanese Shun players but I must have been totally wrong.

What about Goh? White as a lily but still no suitors in Japan.

The first post of the topic reads:

Sega posted this on VF.NET (stats up to 12/31/2005)

Is that supposed to be "from now until back to end of december 2005"? I guess it covers FT too...

I think Raoul posted the wrong date...I think it should be read 2006 and not 2005.

As for an updated graph - the graph was posted on Katagiri's page fairly recent (within the last 30 days).
