The VF5 dojo mode does not have a record function otherwise a lot of things could be worked out in practice before facing a good player. In any fighting game I find the record to function to be extremely useful but for some reason it was overlooked in both versions of VF5.

Is there an equivalent for the 360? I couldn't see anything obvious, but I didn't try searching beyond the mayflash site.

No, and there isnt likely to be, because of MS security chip in official controllers.

You can always get one of those mayflash things + an xfps + an official 360 controller.

MS has a security chip in the controllers? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif

Long live open source and GPL

I've posted this several times, now after screwin around with
SCIV online, and Tekken DR online, I would rather have a
true high quality, dynamic scaleable AI capability than online capability
any day. The AI in VF all of the versions although reasonable, it could be dramatically improved. I would prefer that Sega put more work into the AI and recording features than into the online features.

Reasons High Quality AI is better than Online

1) Serious, Top shelf online players are not always available
when you are!

2) Many champion online players eventually move on, different
games, get older, find-a-girl or find-a-guy /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif ,
get-a-job and disappear from the scene

3) Serious Top shelf players are not always on their top game,
They have bad days, or bad matches, they can get distracted
from time to time for various reasons.

4) Most top players only have a few styles that they have
perfected

5) Available top shelf players for every fighting style in
VF are not always online. Maybe you're lookin for
high quality Wolf, Pai,Goh, ShunDi today, and they are
just not out there!

One the other hand, the AI is always there. It doesn't get old,
It doesn't get tired, It doesn't put down VF in favor of SCIV, or Tekken, It doesn't loose reflexes, focus, or interest. It doesn't need a job. It doesn't have to get laid. It has (potentially has) total mastery of every fighting style in VF. It has (potentially has) every VF technique ever developed in its tool box. A high quality AI is immune from lag! A high quality adaptable AI can learn your style and tricks and force you to up your game.

If you happen to know the people you're playin online then there is some chemistry there that an AI can't replace. On the other hand, if you're playin weak, mediocre, or even top shelf strangers online, then a high quality adaptable AI is a superior option.

Once the fascination with the dancing bear of online wears off, Y'all will see that I'm right.

And in not the to distant future, you won't be able to tell whether you're fighting an AI online or a human online. Especially if the human is a stranger. Mark my words /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Yes. Xbox has crypted interface. Thats why you dont see as many special controllers for xbox like there is for PS. You need license from Microsoft to make controllers for xbox. You can plug any USB-device to PS3, not so for Xbox. Nothing without license.

I agree with all of them. The AI is your always available guaranteed lag free practice opponent. I hope it doesn't get neglected in neglected in future and I hope VF actually has a future outside of Japan.

Juiced 2 already has this kind of concept called Driver DNA or something like that, so I guess you can say it's happening now. Yeah and the AI should make the same mistakes like humans. Anyway how are we going to play the AI online, a database live, or download from it now and play later. If the online and AI reach near-perfect harmony, I'd know what I'd choose.
