So how long will it take to load to the HDD?

Auvii: You're counfusing HDD (Hard Disc Drive) with HD (High Definition). I assumed you used HD as an abbreviation for hard drive, but in reality that's not the case.

Yeah, I'm wondering if they just mean that they'll install parts of the game to the HDD (just like Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3). I can't see Microsoft, which is as paranoid about piracy as they come, allowing entire games to be copied to the 360's HDD. That's just begging for someone to remove the HDD, reverse-engineer their security code, and voila free games (like you can't do that already).

I hope it's the full game though. It would be awesome to run games straight off the hard drive.

This. Dedicated servers(PS3) vs P2P(XBOX) will be the deciding factor for me. I'll go with Dedicated Servers over P2P any day of the week. With the PS3, you could either or, use P2P or Dedicated Servers. Don't be surprise If I end up with two copies of the game, due to folks not owning a PS3.

Back on topic. This is a great move on giving the consumer the option on installing the game disc on the HDD. It would benefit the titles I play the most, and put LESS pressure on my 360.

Full games will be copied to the HDD. They showed DMC4 being copied in full in less than 10 minutes compared to the 21 minute install on PS3 which is pretty cool.

You have to have the disc in the drive while you play for piracy fears but the drive will not spin and the load times will be improved greatly.

I really really hope VF5R does come as DLC and or disc on 360. Although rumour has it that will be a PS3 exclusive /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif I've sold my PS3 the day VF5 came out on 360. [/size]

Good news for me, i 30% of the time my VF5 disc will not read on my 360. I hate 360 for this crap of disk read error, i feel like blowing dust in NES cartridges.

This HDD feature will be awesome, my VF5 will be intact and i won't have to deal with disc scratch blah (my 360 is only 8 months old too)

Wasted, please check whether your VF DVD is just scratched. If this is not the case, and if you experience that with other game disks as well, then call the Microsoft Support lady and get your Xbox 360 exchanged because frequent read errors are not normal.

Wasted (and this is a tip for anyone else too), If you constantly get disc read errors - ALWAYS open and close the disc tray with the game to load it. Never use the dashboard option of "play game" and have the 360 start it from the disc tray.

I read this tip on the Xbox forums and I think some people believe it's to do with clearing the cache. DISC READ ERRORS are actually very common. But regardless, this has worked 100% for me on games I regularly get read errors with, eg, VF5, Virtua Tennis 3, Colin McRae DIRT. I do not get read errors for other games.

I always do the "open & close" method and everything plays great.

    Try it.

I just got accepted for the new Xbox Live preview. So I just wanted to remind people to upload VF5 to hard drive next week. Shorter Loading time and No Crazy Disc sounds

Im pretty sure you will have to wait for your opponents game to loador sync up.

Side note... installed the NXE and it is quite nice. Really like the HDD install and Netflix features.

I'm in as well. Remember folks, games have to take advantage of the install, so alot of older games don't make that much of a difference. The game I've seen the most difference is the "Orange Box" "GTAIV" and "Dead Space" What all these games have in common I notice is they're are always streaming. VF5 not really. But still, the install will save my DVD9 drive from making all that noise. I got in Via Kotaku BTW.
EDIT- I hate being the last post, FUCK! Change to the 20 post format in your profile slackers.

even if you download it to hard drive, don't you still need the disc in the console to play it?
