Hanabi's leifei has the same rank as the shown Akira player. He told us that a long time ago, maybe 1 and a half years back, it was given to the best players in a particular area of Japan. There was also a wolf with this rank.

Oh yeah, he won the best lau tourney. He also has a special rank Pai. I think it say Dai Hito in Japanese meaning Big Person. I couldnt even touch his pai. Both his lau and pai has a 92 winning percentage.

What are the rules for this? If you get knocked out you don't qualify? Respect to Magnum for beating both Nuki and Yoro kage (mad props) but how does the qualifications work?

Kiwe: well if i remember correctly i think the rules are that only the top two finishers from each tournemant qualify for the final tourney. hence that would mean (from watching this qualifier) that magnum and homestay are in. of course i'm just going by the rules that i think applied to the last national tournemant (which haijin jacky won) so don't quote me on anything here /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

ok as for the matches themselves: all i can say is WOW! thats some of the best VFing i've ever seen in my life. awesome tactics, execution and gameplay by all the players involved. some of the matches were bloody cliffhangers (yoro vs ohsu) bu i enjoyed every one thoroughly.

yoro, ohsu, homestay and chibita were all solid but the two players who really stood out for me from these matches were magnum and DAS. magnum's been my fav jeffry since i first saw him in that all jeffry tourney (which i think he won). additionally he's been wicked in the beat tribe videos i've watched him in and am really glad he's doing so well with a character generally considered to be bottom tier. awesome. what would be even cooler is if he wont he whole thing - because that would change a LOT of people's perceptions about the games balance (including mine, since i play jeff and consider him and brad to be the general bottom of the tier pack).

das: if i had to pick one player out of these vids who made an impression on me it'd have to be das. man this guys vanessa totally rocks! great flowcharting, tactics and really good perfomance under pressure to. just check out second round of him vs homestay to see what i'm referring to. brilliant gameplay all round. i used to be a tokyomegane fan when it came to vanessa but i've just found a new fav. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif i really hope he qualifys for the tournemant.

Basically, yes, but you can still go to another game center and try to qualify there.

Ohsu did 2/3 DLC after he blocked Kage's [6][6][K]+[G]. Awesome. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I like Magnum Jeff's [3_][K]+[G], opposite nitaku flow chart. He once did [6][P]+[K] to beat a throw and switched to [4][P] to beat low P. Sweet.

Ouch. Yoro looked like he froze bigtime. Magnum attacks > Yoro guards > Yoro thrown. Nerves must have been high. And that second round...what a mindgame.

OK does anybody know why Kurita uses [P][P][K] instead of [6]+[P][P][K] after MC [6_]+[K]? I was thinking for oki but it doesn't even seem that much better...

That's not Yoro in those vids. The name is different. His name is Ganryu Kage. I remember his name from the PS2 quest mode.

Sega AM2's site says it's Yoro. I think he was just using a different card.

I'm pretty sure they are different players.

    http://am.sega.jp/utop/news/vf4evo_ft/y01.html

Doesn't mention Yoro anywhere. It's a completely different name and in the PS2 quest mode they have different ranks.
