VF in Belgium and The Netherlands

Hi there masterchief, welcome to the dutch VF scene!

Did you used to go by a different username when you played SC2? I played Eugene a lot and might probably know you too perhaps, that's why I ask this question.

Anyway had a lot of fun at NGKrush's place last friday, had some fun games with Ake and Krye, hadn't played against NGKrush but played him a meet before, so no biggies there.

Ake: Seriously, play Vanessa as 2nd cuz I saw some sweet stuff you did with her I haven't seen before. As for talking a lot about punishing, but not punishing your unsafe stuff with Shun is simply because I don't know shit about Shun and I do know about the frames of the other characters that were played.

Krye: Your Lau is becoming very solid, I told you that 3P,P,K is dangerous, now you just need to hit confirm it. Stick with him as your main I would say.

 

So all we have to do now is pick a date to meet up at Ake's place!

How bout this weekend?

Kind of short term, but at least it's something =p

 

please not this weekend. I´ve missed the last couple opportunities to meetup and this weekend is no good for me either as ive got a big test next week.

 

if people are interested (and i know you are) i can set something up in the (very) near future. if ya'll post dates that suit you, i can inventorize and and pick a weekend for the meet!

Taking Fulan into account we'd arrive at the 5th and 6th of April at the earliest at Ake's (if you can forgive my impropriety for inviting people over to your place, I believe arranging these things is usually smoother with a target date in place).

12 of april and onwards are cool for me.

i'm down with "vrijpostig" too vortigar, i like the idea of seeing this person who has a certain job/post at a company and feels comfortable enough in the situation to step out of that post for just a moment.

finally! this makes my dream of returning to the 3s scene as a twelve player a little more real /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif i'm gonna check that vid, thanks for sharing. btw did anyone see that mvc2 evo moment where justin wong loses all but 1 character and totally comes back and win the tournament(search for justing wong comeback on youtube)? damn, that sh*t is so cool, makes me want to play that again, had a lot of fun vs mike leroi for a while playing that and i have a better idea of what team i would like to play now.
but remembering the conversations where the game did pop up, i guess theres no interest in that game anymore, but the further you get into it the more interesting teams come up (a bit like cvs2 where you think at first glance it seems 1 team/setup is the best and the rest doesn't matter, but getting deeper into it shows that a lot of teams are effective, it depends on how yiu play them.)

 

Doesn't matter which weekend, Ake.

Aich, MvC2, can't practice that game at home. I love CvS2 though, but am largely crap at it. Mostly due to my love of King automatically making me screw up one of my spots in the team. Well, she isn't that crap if you can roll. Been a year since I last played it though, let alone against other players.

And yeah, I have seen Wong's comeback with solo Cyclops, and now I feel like watching it again. Oh, he did it with Cable once before. As much as I hate his Chun in 3S, his MvC2 game is second to none.

I'll try and get the day off on the 12th so I can make it as well. I started playing a little again today and have decided to pick up a new character. I'm leaning towards Brad at the moment, I feel like he's a lot more suitable for me than Wolf and his throws. After the meeting at Fulaani's house I haven't really played at all but I'm going to start playing more again. Does anyone have any tips on how to use Brad properly? The things I've read about him are mostly that he requires you to pretty much create your own style which really appeals to me seeing as I could never find a character that would suit my aggressive playing style.

The blackbook strategy bit on Brad is pretty good.

You can base your offense around quite a few moves with him. The most important of these (base moves) are the ones that go into stances, using the right one of these at the right time and range is essential.

If you can get your opponent off-balance you can rain attacks their way and destroy them in no time flat, but opening their defence can be tricky.

He's definately an aggresive character, probably to a fault.

I don't want to dig into it that much as I fear of limiting your frame of experimentation. I have my particular style and would love to see someone pull off something different.

Just played a solid 50 matches on Quest Mode to get the hang of him a little bit. I kind of need some input now, I've globally read the basics in the black book strategy page ( haven't looked into the combos) and here's what I'm doing so far.

I've got the slips and ducking moves sorta down now and am sort of trying to put them into combos, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif comes to mind. I've been trying to get the neck clinch to work from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif into /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif but I can't get the timing down right away, so I'll need to to take this into practice.

It feels to me that his game focuses on finding a hole in the defense of your opponent and punishing this off quickly, this is basically the case with every char but it seems to be more of a focus for Brad. I'm really enjoying him so far (even though i'm not doing anything special yet) but I'm gonna stick with him for a while.

 

Be careful not to play too much quest mode since most of Brad's mixups don't work for shit against the ai, even the crappy ps3 ai. You could say Brad is practically broken against ai.

The clinch timing windows on all moves that allow it is rather late. If you're really fast you can in fact hit check it: see yellow flash? Hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif for clinch, I've been able to do this when I'm particularly awake, but can't do it consistently. There's also a distance limitation on the clinch, it won't connect at maximum range, only on 'deep' hits. Remember that slip left K (the step over kick) allows clinch on normal hit, the others are MC only.

I'd suggest you fool around with mixing up /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and the various stance options from them. Note that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif switch stance, so you need to slip the other way from what you started with (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif actually switches stance twice to get you back where you started).

While playing Brad I never feel like doing something special, but can still win. Heck the most special thing you'll do with him is probably getting /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to actually hit (which always puts a smile on my face and gets no reaction from anyone else, maybe just a grumble at the damage they're eating).

sold for 12&13th of march. this the final date for the meeting! ofcourse there is a limit to how many people i can accomodate for, so first come first serve. (apart for the hardcore group of course)

Ik zal vrij vragen voor 12 en 13 april =). Ik zal zelf wel een fles siroop ofzo meenemen (ik hou niet van prik). Als niemand z'n 360 mee kan nemen neem ik de mijne wel mee, maar aangezien ik waarschijnlijk met het OV ga, doe ik dat liever niet.

Ik zal even een oude discussie aanwakkeren; namelijk die over de rankingbattles. Ik zal me niet mengen in de discussie over hoe we die qua opzet gaan regelen. Mijn vraag is: aangezien de 360 versie de laatste versie is qua balances etc, er steeds meer 360 spelers erbij komen, het grootste toernooi van NL op de 360 gespeeld gaat worden (WCG, misschien niet het beste toernooi qua opzet, maar wel het toernooi met de grootste prijzen en waarschijnlijk de grootste opkomst; ook het toernooi waar we allemaal willen knallen lijkt me) én de 360 in prijs is verlaagt (hardly any excuses not to buy one!) lijkt het mij een goed idee om de ranking battles op 360 te gaan spelen. Het enige vervelende aan de 360 is dat niet iedereen aan de sticks/controllers is gewend, maar daar is misschien wel een oplossing voor te vinden.
