Yeah it would be really cool if the most innovative series in fighting games totally stagnated! Yeah!

Since I can see things like limb momentum in the clips - I think it would be great to have VF3 style block stun animations. Maybe ad stuff like whiffed bodychecks leaving you unbalanced for a few frames - things like that.

i think that sara pic is ingame, it doesnt have the pore detail like the akira pic, and i see some aliasing.

I noticed that too (about the Sarah pic). Perhaps things are either earlier along, or something is a miss. From the video, it looked like Shun could have the same level of detail Akira did so I figured that Akira shot for in game.

However, what Im more concerned about in that pic is Sarah herself, as in what happened? She should be about 32 years old now, yet she looks perhaps slightly younger than in VF4. Additionally, its like she took whatever number of years between VF4 & 5 off and didnt train, thus losing most of her muscle tone in her arms. Now, Ill bet that was due to marketing (blah blah, realistic physique for a female fighter is unacceptable, they gotta be fair, thin, and smooth. So sad.) Perhaps its the lighting, perhaps now there is real time muscle deformation for like if her arms are straight or flexed (that'd kick ass). And finally, her belt appears to be clipping her hip there. (I hope belt style is now a true option in customization, unlike the slapped on extra belt option of VF4, the ability to have it placed at the waist (old school Sarah) or slung around like it is now.) But then there are a lot of customizable options that Im hoping are done right this time.

Anyway, I too am for the VF3 style block stun animations. They did add a sense of realism to how moves looked. Didnt VF3 also have some sort of sensitive zones? Something like juggles or mis aligned strikes due to terrain had minor damage variations based on where they hit (face vs arms vs legs, varied per character and gender even). I recall reading that in some IGN mag years ago before VF3 hit (Next Generation perhaps).

[/ QUOTE ] Well, I think it's going to be pretty difficult to make it any better. In fact, I just don't understand how it possibly could be better - minus minor balance tweaks.

That has exactly been my thinking at the end of each series when news of the next version was heard. I've always wondered how it could get any better, and I haven' t been let down to date.

If history is any indication, brace yourself.

    Lindbergh

I thought the trailer looked great.

Lindbergh was a virulent anti-Semite and a supporter of the Nazis. He may have been given the Iron Eagle (An award given by the Fuhrer(sp?) to prominent American anti-Semites). I know Henry Ford (the Model T guy) was given that award. Have you driven a Ford (over a Jew) lately?

Let's hope that the name of Saga's new board meets the same fate as the Lindbergh baby.

At least Sega didn't call their new board the Hitler 9000.

I was hoping for a tag-team mode w/complete partner tags in something like the underground arena. Some people @ gamefaqs complained but I told them that if you are as good as you say, you could pick-up on more than one person. I did. And I also hope they let you gain the option of playing arcade using some of the underground fight modes as well. Not just against the other player Plus a few new costumes would be nice.(personally I think they went too far w/removing Vanessa'a other cos. in the evo. port to the U.S w/o giving a good replacement.) Multi-tier platforms would also be nice./versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif <font color="deep red"> </font> /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

So, uh, can anyone tell me why board named Lindbergh = SEGA ENDORSES NAZIS? Seriously, guys, there could be like a billion reasons why the board is named that unrelated to the aviator. For example, it could just be a generic code name they adopted for the final project (remember, Shenmue was called "Berkeley" for a long time).

Way to go Zero-chan. Sgt, *please* keep your political rants off the VF5 thread, please. You've got the general forum all for yourself.

    Looks good

The game looks pretty good to me form the movies. Maybe the graphics could stand to improve but graphics stopped being the #1 selling point for me after the SNES days.

Vanessa finally got a better costume but I want her originial bra/tights from VF4. I was pissed they took it outta Evo. Also from this VF5 movie it looks like they toned down the muscle on her. Wtf soon she's gonna be a skinny blonde chick w/ big tits :p I always thought the muscle on her actually GAVE the appearance that she could kick ass. Ah well.

    Lindbergh

Zero, I don't think I implied that Sega is endorsing Hitler or National Socialism. I imagine the name was chosen because of Lindbergh's status as a pioneer of aviation and that they did not know anything about his personal history. Or maybe they just liked the sound of the name. Either way, it ends up being disturbing and slightly funny in its inappropriateness.

GLC, please explain how my last post was a political rant. What divisive political positions did I seem to be advocating? Was I being too anti-Nazi for you?

Mine was a short post consisting of a few historically relevant facts pertaining to the man I presume to be the namesake of Sega's new piece of hardware. You are being stupid.
