Where was the scan posted? I'd like to read the Japanese comments.

Can anyone explain why Akira has been moved so far up in the tier lists in Ver. C compared to Ver. B?

I wonder if I'm supposed to feel bad about playing Vanessa now that I know she's "top tier". I've loved her since I played her in EVO.

There isn't so much difference between characters really, as has been said here many times... Everybody can win, in the end it's all up to players.

Personally, I really don't like the attitude "I play this character because he/she's a top tier", but if a character you like just happens to be a top tier... What is there to feel bad about? It's not like YOU gave them the moves or something /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif ...

    The key quote is:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">At the end they said that Lion and Sarah are bottom tier but they have more than enough tools to win tournaments so it's not like a huge disadvantage for them.</div></div>

Unlike other fighting games, the tiers in VF are very narrow.

Look at the SBO finals this year.

Even if the tiers were drastic, and dictated tournament outcomes more, you still shouldn't feel bad about playing her.

Yay! Blaze is low tier. I love playing low tier/unpopular (usually go hand it hand) characters for some reason.

Though, I wish he was a little more popular. His forum section here is practically a ghost town.

Wow...this has been quite informative, and it's also made me realize I wasn't going insane. I'd hit a pretty drastic wall with Lion, as far as my successes. I know that the grand majority of it was really my (lack of) skill, but I found myself often thinking "Man, I'm really having to work to do reasonable damage."

I switched to playing my sub, Brad, to try and alleviate a certain amount of frustration I was feeling. I'm not abandoning Lion, just taking a bit of a break.

I noticed I was doing considerably better with Brad, and wondered how much was again my imagination, and how much was that his style of play fits better with mine. Now I see that there's actually a verifiable reason I was doing better with Brad and struggling with Lion.

Now the REAL question is "Should I share this info with my wife, who is becoming a casual-moderate VF player, or should I use this info to my advantage so she is less of an in-house competition to me?" I mean, really...I would NEVER live it down if she exceeds my own skill. She'd never let me forget it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Let me say one thing...the tiers listed on the first post of this thread applies only to TOURNAMENT LEVEL PLAYERS. Most of us on this forum unfortunately are not at that level. At our level, there really are no tiers (i.e. a good player's Lion will kick all of our asses all day, e.g. Chibita)...rather, tiers are determined by "ease of play" rather than character advantage/disadvantage.

Ahh...I see. Good to know. Strangely, though, I'm still finding Brad to be a superior character for my style...which is odd, as I used to really feel that Lion was the one for me. (Back when VF4 came out for the PS2.)

Granted, I know that a large amount of this also applies more to purely head to head competition, as opposed to playing against the computer on a home console, but since the 360 version of VF5 is based on the latest arcade cabinet model, I figure there's a large amount of similarities as well.

I agree with that...for whatever reason, certain characters just fit the way you think/play better than others. Jeffry in VF4 was one such character for me. If Brad is your style, I say don't fight it and embrace it! (Plus you can always have two main characters anyway.)

Wow. That's really funny! I taught my girlfriend how to play Pai (for VF4 and Evo), and she can be downright dangerous at times. I don't have a stick anymore (and she is a master at using the controller), so there are times when I really have to play her like I am playing in a tournament or she cleans me.

The same thing happened to me when I picked her. I thought her fighting style fit my own and she ended up being S tier

    long live the moneky!

  17. Wow I knew that Lei and Eileen seemed to have much better tools at their disposal then Lion. I picked the wrong horse for this race! (choosing Lion) Oh well I always pick sucky characters in fighting games. Then I can be a sore loser n call the victor out for using a "high tier" character if they win lol

The finals of the last big VF tourney in Japan featured a Lion v. Lion match (Lion won).

Tiers just don't mean jack in this game.

    Yeah, they do.
They show how much a character has to work to get damage.
However, the difference in tiers in this game might not mean as much in VF as in others, you're talking like it's a cinch for a Lion player to beat all those top tier players, it isn't.

Tiers mean something, and that's why it's so special when two Lion players face up in the finals.
In VF hard work + talent > tiers.

Jack = less than any other fighting game ever made.
