Actually the info above is regarding the updates for the arcade.

No word regarding any updates for the home versions as of yet, but based on VF4: Evolution, it is assumed that a home version will eventually be released.

So, imho, take the information with a grain of salt.

Once there's an official announcement- do you think it would be a good idea to quickly email Sega somewhere- unsure who, and ask for a console release for VF5 Evo, stating that you are willing to pre-order through them, and DLC for a version D if it happens?

I think we need to get on the ball for this if it's confirmed, to avoid not getting it.

I hope it comes to us in the form of a patch then. I just got the game and already they want to make another version. What's the point of me working hard in Quest Mode then?

I mean, it's good that they want to keep moving forward. But they may pull an EVO and make us buy a new disc to start from scratch. Doesn't this sounds annoying to anyone else (if indeed true)?

I think ver.D should be a patch. Preferably free, but I'm used to PC gaming and the Stardock model for that.

Evo we should buy. Sega has to make money or they won't do this.
Yeah, I'd like it for free, but that ain't happening. I"m a little afraid it will end up a PS3 exclusive though. Most of us bought a 360 for the online and Ver.C. Forcing us to buy a PS3 for Evo would be doubleplusungood. ^_^ (I actually waited to buy a 360 for VF5- so the game is at least a system seller of 1, only 999,999 to catch up to Halo. ^_^)

My concern is convincing Sega to make a 360 version, why I think some sort of online email petition as soon as its announced, done in a respectful fashion, might work.

Unsure if a friendly executive email carpet bomb would work. (Usually they're done for consumer complaints). That might mess up their email though.

This has to be done right, not as a fanboy rant. Which someone in the know would give good advice as to what works best.

I'm quite confident that Microsoft will get Evo on their system somehow (if it's released on home consoles at all).

That's the part I don't want to take a chance on. I'd rather maximize the chances of that.

Unlike Japan, the only way we'll ever really see comp in VF5 (unless you're in the tiny minority) is via a console release with online play. Part of that is spreading the word of mouth to get people buying the game. Hopefully the game sells 1,000,000 copies in the US. (at the very least- it needs to outsell DOA)

I think that if Sega is planning to release a patch for version D on the 360, they won't do it until VF5: Evolution comes out. That way, people who wants to play version D will still have to go to an arcade to play it. Once Evolution comes out, though. It'll be outdated and they can patch it without having to worry about cutting into arcade sales.

I doubt the 360 version cuts into arcade sales at all, since

    a) It's a US/Euro release as of this time
    b) It's on X360, which doesn't sell well in japan
    c) Japan is probably 85-90% of VF5 arcade revenue.

I'd be curious how well VF5 would sell on 360 console in Japan- but I don't think the PS3 version of VF5 did that hot in Japan either.

I think the sales of VF in the US consolewise are probably > Japanese sales. Didn't Evo sell about 700,000 copies? Think I read that somewhere 2 yrs ago.

It's nice that they are still planning to support this game. I, personally, much prefer a small step or two with one version of the game before the company jumps on releasing the next version. This gives them a good way to tweak the game and release new content to see how it flies with the customers. This type of stuff will improve the quality of later titles (Virtua Fighter 6). As I stated in another thread, I loved how this same model was used with Virtua Fighter 4/Virtua Fighter 4: Evo and Tekken 5/Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. I was hoping for Soul Calibur III to use this model better (they kinda did with Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition; but the lack of a console release, and the "too little, too late" things kinda downplayed its release).

I agree with what most people seem to be saying here: I'd like to see Version D released as an update for both the Xbox 360 version of the game and the PlayStation 3 version of the game. And then when Virtua Fighter 5: Evo comes out, I'd be more than happy to buy it. Seeing the big upgrade from VF4 to VF4EVO, I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a buy. Not full price, mind you, but I'd easily pay $30 or $35 for it.

I'd like it to be released on both consoles, but like some others have said, that may not happen. The Xbox 360 just doesn't do as well in Japan, and that's where the true Virtua Fighter market is. Being a Mobile Suit Gundam fan for a long time, I've come to realize that this is just the way it is with some stuff. The United States is a secondary market that they might be able to push a bit of money out of. But we are not the priority by any means. I can easily see a Virtua Fighter 5: Evo release on the PlayStation 3 (possibly as a PlayStation Network game, like Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection). But the Xbox 360 will be a different story. Virtua Fighter 5 Online had the two gimmicks on being Ver. C and having online play. But when it comes time to release Virtua Fighter 5: Evo, the Xbox 360 won't have those gimmicks to wave around.

Version D sounds like Version B. Aka, no gameplay changes.

Evo home port will most likely be released in 2009, or late late 2008 and will probably be a simultaneous release on both consoles. Here's to hoping for the impossible: cross platform online play to really grow the community and the game's popularity ("OMG! VF5 is the first game ever to have cross platform play!"). >.>

This is why USA is always gonna be behind. we cant invite Japan to EVO2k8 when there will be a newer ver of vf5 out.. Now I see why ver c was skipped on ps3 because a new version is coming out. Now I too can only hope that ppl with 360' get updates but I just dont think Sega will bring the newest version to 360 imo..

    VF5 evo ps3 FTW

    Cant wait

I'm sure Sega is looking to kill their arcade market as fast as possible in which case they should make a speedy console port for the next VF. Think about it. By the time the next version of VF comes out for PS3 or xbox, the arcade will be 2 months away for yet another upgrade.
