Did they slow down Vanessa's walk speed?

The timing on all the hit throws feels the same to Vanilla.

    Nice!

Russian Hook does seem really weak now [IMG]

^^^^^ Second I went into dojo the reduced walk speed hit me like a tone of bricks. [IMG]

Yeah you're right. No long can be used as anti-high bait. Will be fun learning how to use it again. Can't give up on it [IMG]

Can someone explain what all the starters are on the DS list? I get the first one is 3P+K but the other starters don't have a move notation listed, just a bunch of JP characters.

EDIT: I had a go at trying to figure out what's what with Google translate. Here's my guesses:

    1. 3P+K
    2. "Slammed Start" 6K+G, 2K,P, 46P+K Sabaki
    3. "Collapsed Belly" 44K+G, G+2/8P CH
    4. "Broken Leg" 1P+K CH
    5. "P Landing Jump" Descending P
    6. "CJ Stagger"
    7. "K Stagger" Not sure on these two, is it for the stagger after the opponent guards a charged 3K or 44K+G?
    8. "Paste The Wall" After wallsplat?
    9. "Side Collapsed"
    10. "Collapsed Behind" These are for side and back crumple, not sure what moves start these.

Also it doesn't seem to be listed but you are at +19 after 4P CH, enough to start a combo from 6P+K+G or dash up and grab.

I'm very new to VF so apologies if I've listed anything wrong. Any more help would be appreciated.

    Hey Remxi,

These Virtua Wiki pages are the sources I used while creating the two combo sheets in Vanessa's GDS file. You'll be better off looking at that instead.

    What/where is a GDS file?

EDIT: Oh nevermind, I found it. This will be very useful, thank you so much for creating such a document.

What happened to all her reversals that she had in defensive stance, or am I completely wrong in thinking that she had those in Vanilla?

She had them in Vanilla but in FS they were removed. Her sabakis do the job just fine though acting in that same role so it isn't that much of a loss from my point of view.

The only reversal I ever used was DS 1P+K and only for oki(sick animation).

    No big loss.

Buffering WS P after a blocked P in DS is So much easier to do online in FS than Vanilla. I've noticed an Orangeish/Redish flash when I score a CH off it, what does this mean?

It's easier because they removed 33P. No more overlapping. You just do 33,5,P fast, and it always comes out.

    Orange/red flash?
If it's not the Yellow CH flash, then I have no idea what you're talking about.

White for normal, Yellow for CH, Red for Stagger (back when it showed up), and blue for side hits.

How do the sabaki moves compare to her reversals then? I guess they're better because they cover more moves but the frame are odd and I'm just not used to using sabaki moves yet. I prefer OS so I'm not familiar with how her DS plays out, but I was used to using reversals in DS.

After playing with the character I feel as though she has been linearized. Before it felt like the character could do anything and there were all these small things that alone didn't mean much but when you had a good player behind the wheel who regularly used a majority of the tools it was very deadly. Now I'm betting we will see a lot less variation in play from the character as well as a lot less versatility in matches.

OK, just a heads up. I got the game this week and i'm already receiving hate mail for DS [K][K]. It's every bit as good as i imagined.

I was abroad on my summer vacation :X3:

Well, TBH i end up overdoing it.

Once vane connects with [K][K] her opponent is sideturned at -5; which means that, if i'm reading the command lists correctly, she has 2 options:

    * [3][K] nets her a sidecrumple if they try to attack from disadvantage or a sidethrow/[3][P] if they block low
    * [K][+][G] nets her sidethrow/[P][K] if they try to evade or leaves her at +1 if the opponent blocks No it doesn't: 5f advantage +12 = 17 which is < than the 22f exe of the move. In other words the opponent will guard k+g normally and thus vanessa would be at -5

But, since i just got the game i haven't committed those two options in my muscle memory yet. Also, thanks to lag, some opponents beat my [3][K] with low punch

So i end up mashing [K][K][K][K]. It's VERY lazy and i'm not proud of it BUT that way i don't have to choose between "will my opponent abare or evade?" (since the second [K] ends up nailing evaders most of the time. Because, as everyone knows by now, nobody blocks online

Bonus, [K][K] actually combos on NORMAL hit against a sideturned opponent. So it keeps on giving if they try to low block. If they block high, the second kick is only -2 and has great pushback. So far i've not run against an opponent who knows they should block high then block the second hit low.

Long story short, i end up winning rounds with 10 DS [K][K] in a row

The way I see it, OS is fun stance, DS is mindless stance.
You have sabakis, but other than that there's little room for originality, little room for failure, and little room for advancement.
I think the difference between a horrible and amazing DS Vanessa is -------->---<- this big.
[K][K] is a big culprit for that. But maybe I'm the only one who finds DS to be more simple and less rewarding than OS.

Even though I find DS simple, I almost always have better success with OS stance, but rather than thinking I suck with DS, I believe it's a little more because OS gives more possibilities and mind games.
I always mix the stances though and love the sabakis.
