Kruza: No, there's the new [6][P][K][G] shoulder ram that also changes stances.

Also Vanessa can use [4][P][K][G] to transition to the new DS intercept stance instead of techrolling while in OS. So that's sort of a stance-switching move too.

BlackLAC: well at least it still sobers :( One of pecora's latest youtube vids showcases that boomerang hook > [6][K][+][G] > [6][P][3][K] sobers for 3.

BTW, isn't anyone surprised they haven't simplified the input for toe kick? I mean they simplified the hit-throw so why keep [6][P][3][K] and not change it to something easier, for example [6][P][6][K] or [6][P][4][K] or even [6][P][K][+][G]?

Interesting. Clearly it will have it's uses.

Does her Shoulder Ram beat 2P?

Edit: I assume timing on the hit throws are the same as Vanilla?

The timing for the followup on DS [6][K] and [3][K]+[G] hit throw was very different in VF5R to Vanilla, I never had any issue doing it in Vanilla but had trouble hitting in R (to the degree that I for a while thought they had removed it).

Just wanted to state that Vanessa's combo lists -- yeah, she has two of them -- have received quite an update though not fully complete. All of the information listed is derived from her Virtua Wiki site. Most of the combos here look to be of the boring standard/basic variety, but do I think the wall combos on the Offensive Style sheet are interesting.

As usual, all of the sheets in Vanessa's GDS file will continue to receive updates as I come across more info.

    Very nice! [IMG]

I'm pretty sure DS [P][+][K][P] CH still wields a head crumple though (and not a stomach crumple).

I'm not so sure about OS HCF [P]; in VF5 vanilla the un-charged version wields a regular knock down (and not a stomach crumple, only the charged version does that).

Also i'm not so sure that OS [6_][K] wields the same head crumple as BT [P][+][K].

Based on what i've seen in vids, this is all still true.

I thought there was only one type of head crumple?

Nah, OS [6_][K] head crumple is definitely new.

What i meant is that i have yet to see VF5FS' OS BT [P][+][K] so i don't know if they reanimated the head crumple or not [IMG]

Naw, that just happens against crouching opponents. It's always worked like that even in Vanilla.

What's the difference between these two quotes?

One is a question or an expression of surprise. The other is a definitive statement. The difference is pretty clear. I didn't know, i went and tested, and now i do. [IMG]

You guys know what I mean.

I meant that Marly asked if it's a natural combo against crouchers, and the reply was basically, "No, it only naturally combos against crouchers."

I think you're wrong Libertine (besides the fact that the first sentence is a query and the second one is the reply to the query):

Marly asked "Is it a combo vs opponents who crouch?" and Chefboy basically answered "No (it's not a combo) but the whole string still connects vs crouched opponents".

It's not a "real", "guaranteed" combo because once OS [6][K] hits a crouching guard the opponent gets staggered. By convention we usually don't count stagger setups as "guaranteed" combos, hence Chefboy's "No". However, it just so happens that unstaggering fast enough to avoid the [K] followup is practically impossible, hence Chefboy's "that just happens against crouching opponents." [IMG]

Mister's answer is still better than mine though [IMG]

I noticed Russian Hook OS [4] [3] [P] [+] [K] is no longer mid or Knockdowns at all.

Does it still beat Highs? And with it being a special high now does it beat 2P?

  18. Libertine

    It's been a special high since R!

Yes, it will beat low punches.

It's not the russian hook (;_;) it used to be, but you do get a cool just-frame from it now.

From the vids I've seen it looks like Vanessa's mostly use [9] [P] to beat 2P which does seem like the better option if Russian Hook doesn't beat highs. If it still beats highs though [IMG] .
