a mode of the game that has the original VF polygon characters and plays like the original, ie: physics and hardly any combo opportunities.

This was released in England as a separate disc... though it's hard to find. The discs on eBay fetch $50+

Thanks for that. I've seen it talked about on here before but it only just dawned on me that I had no idea what it was.

Btw, anyone know of any kinky easter eggs for us ps2 evo?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The way that Sega informs the buyers of Evo, you might as well consider the 10th ann. the biggest easter egg in Evo, as it takes some exploring of the options menu to find /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If you check over @ GameFAQS you can find some neat little VF4:Evo tidbits, like getting different music on the last stages on arcade mode, or hearing the old Sega voice at the startup menu, but nothing overly exciting /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Sorry dude, wasn't thinking it just popped into my head while I was reading the thread. I was hoping for a quick response but ended up asking twice like a chump when I could have searched.

I didn't search since someone already told me what it was. Doesn't sound like there's much to learn. I'm not gonna spend time looking for a seperate disc of it. It's a pity it doesn't come on the same disc like the U.S. At least they get some compensation for their crappy release date.

A minor correction - "hardly any combo opportunities" = tons of combo opportunities actually. Floats are a bit higher and more moves float than before. Lau can for example do f+P,P --> P,P,P,d+K. Before he could only do f+P,P after an elbow.

Really? I only played with it a little while. The usual Lion P+K , FF+KK; or B,DF+FF+KK didn't work. But the usual BB+K combo starter did float a bit. I should test it more.

that's cause those are bounce combos... and i don't think they're there in 10th anniversary....

Go for big floater combos and the guaranteed big pounce... /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Did anyone else notice that the screenshots on the US version's back are arcade screens from AGES ago, whereas the JP version shows PS2 shots with version-specific modes and features? Are Westerners really THAT big of graphics whores?

    Yes they are.

A minor error I noticed (and I hope it isn't the same error throughout) ... the tactics training features a goh combo (knee, b+P+K, etc) which is closed stance only, but the game tells you to start it in open stance. It then does the same thing for an open stance only combo (tells you to start in closed).

The confusion is hopefully just due to the fact that for the knee --> b+P+K --> P --> f+P,P...goh starts in closed, switches to open after the knee, then does an open-only float combo.

and why isn't brad's hobby listed as "womanizing" anymore? does sega have something against womanizers? i, personally, am tired of womanizers being discriminated against as a class! so insidious is this prejudice that it even makes its way into our video games... and when a guy in a video game can't womanize anymore, it can't be long before none of the rest of us can freely womanize, either.

    womanizers of the world, unite!

One other thing... SOA even went so far as to change the Blue attract movie. Vanessa's outfit is changed.

What's up with that ? They should see how Christie and Julia dress in Tekken.

They could've atleast added a new costume, like regular street clothes or something.

What's with the crappy game movie? The Vf4 one pwned, it had style. This one is just Brad kicks someone, then the next guy does it, then the next. And they only show like half the people in the game ! What's up with that ;/

I think SOA is run by a bunch of touchy feelie hippies that don't want to offend anyone with venessa's costume or brad's womanizing.

I think Brad looks cooler in the Japanese version but still this game own's my PS2.

I don't know if you can blame SOA for all that. The original ver.A arcade machine that was exported outside of Japan to countries like Australia, Singapore, Korea all had these changes to both Brad and Vanessa. I'm pretty sure SOA had nothing to do with that.

Zero-Chan posted this(threaded mode link below) a while back where she asked someone if changes that had been made to those arcade version would be also done to the home console version of Evo.

Here's is the link in threaded mode.
