UK Players: UMSD version2.0 Tournament

Yeah, no problem.

I was just actually thinking now, depending on who will be around my place back in manchester, that we could set up the room we'll be using for the tourney and stay in there playing games all night.

There are 3 couches and a few chairs and tables and that and no one uses the room much so we could just take it over, we'll have to wait and see though.

 

Should have also added;

All matches take place on random select. If the Palace stage is selected then we quit and re-select. Or we could have both players agreeing on a stage as well.

After a brief PM I found out various assignments like P+K, P+G etc were indeed allowed at Evo2k4 so, scrap what I said before. Maz can play with various other assigned buttons if he wants. I think he's the only player who'll be using them anyway.

aww thx for biggin me up king but seriously i aint that great, I just try not to stand around waiting to be hit but dont believe the hype. most people whoop my ass occasionally. oh yeah will this event last for the day as i have to leave on the same day aswell. so maybe me, ollie, king and co leave for manchester real early

 

This is roughly the plan of attack:

Saturday 25th

9.00 Room is set up. Anyone who can make it as early as this is more than welcome to be here around by this time onwards.

12.30 Group stages kick off

14.30 Knock out stage starts

15.00 Finals (1-2 and 3-4 place fights)

15.30...open to suggestions...

Now it seems as though a few will be coming up on the friday too and staying at mine (Nakura, Ade, Jeffahn, Kingsouther, Ryan?...) but the plan is for all tourney games to be played and finished by the saturday afternoon giving everyone a chance for some casual matches before setting off back home.

yeah, about the shoulder buttons, i am not too fussed about using them, but like Andy said, MULTIPLE COMMAND BUTTONS ARE CHEATING.
if some wants to have R1 as block, Sqaure as punch and Circle as kick, then so be it. i just don't want anyone have bottones with tech roll assigned to them, or throw escapes or anything.
i don't understand how the guys at EVO2K let them be used..........

Well, if needs be then yes...but I hope it wouldn't come to this at all.

With any luck, people will be decent enough to have a few fights with someone and then move off to let others play. If anyone starts abusing this practice then they'll just have their joystick/pad unpluged and asked kindly to have a break and let others play.

But like I say, I hope it won't come to that.

 

Just one comment on the shoulder button fiasco and then it can be laid to rest for all I care.....

If you're not good enough to play on a pad without the multiple buttons then why are you using a pad in the first place? What's the point in people like me taking the time and energy to learn how to play on a pad like the stick users do if you can just come along and cheat with struggles, tech rolls, throw escapes etc?

If you don't want the "handicap" of a d-pad then get a fucking stick or suck it up and learn the Guard, Punch, Kick setup.

Anyway, I'm not going to cause any hassle and I think I'm past the point where someone can beat me just because they are cheating now.

Yeah, I know what your saying Andy but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to justify saying people can't use mutiple buttons when it's actually already allowed in "proper" tourneys as it were.

At the end of the day, it is only one player who'd be using that set up and meaning no disrespect to him at all, there are quite a few better players than him coming to the tourney, so I don't think it will have much effect on any outcomes at all.

 

remember evo2k4 was in usa, but im sure they said it will be the last time assigned buttons will be alowed, that or absolution

anyways, i think its cheating for tek rolls an stuff, fair enough if your of a certain finance problem and havent gotten a stick and have learned on a pad, but at least should of learned with singular buttons

in streetfighter tournys zangief/dhalsim/boxer and spaniard cant assign 3punches or kicks! cos its cheatingggggg

 

i fully agree with Random and Elite about multi-buttons.
Chris, maybe you should make your tournament a special one, where only people without multiple button assignments are allowed to play in future.

i wouldn't like to say who would come second because there are too many people who i don't know how good they are.

Hmm yeah this whole situation is a delicate one. Is it true that Absolution was suposed to be the last tourney where they could be used?

The only thing I can think of is that we either take a poll of whether or not they should be allowed now or try to decide on the day when everyone is present.

 

I do believe Ullysis made a point out of banning multiple commands to one button for the next Absolution, BUT, I have to state here that he actually wanted to ban them for Absolution 2004 as well, but after a lot of discussion and people complaining he changed it to "no macros", he said he confused these with multiple bindings but IMHO this sounds kind of weird since every idiot knows macros are banned, different story with bindings.

My point being, when the next Absolution is here multiple bindings may be allowed yet again, just like at ABSO2004.

I don't have anything to do with this tournament by the way, just trying to help /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've already explained that VF is the main game of the day but if players are going to be still around after 15.30 on the saturday (or coming a day early on the friday) then I thought we could run a short but sweet little SF tourney. I doubt it would take that long since there are only a few interested. If we had 8 players we could do a randomised knockout tourney for it. Similar to the VF fights, first to 3 wins goes through.

Macro is like when you put Doublepalm on R2 (so 1 buttonpress would be doublepalm, lol).

Ah great, that's 8 (LOL Chun Li = Pai).

I should point out that I use a pad for SF (though NOT with 3ps or 3ks on, I learned the game on my cousin's famicom) and I'm probably quite crap at the game compared to most but its one of those games I could play all day and not get bored. I did use to try and play everyone but now my main is WW Guile and I also like to use Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Blanka and Dhalsim. Oh yeah and Akuma /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
