Edit: Byt he way does anyone know what the deal is with passports on domestic flights? Do I need one cause my one's expired /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Just spoke to some guy on the phone from Victoria station Ticket office, he goes if you book 7 days in advance it's
£20 Return! , on the days it's £51 not guaranteed.
Leaving from kings cross, and it's a 3 hour journey.
So who's taking plane who's taking train?
(Do I need passport for plane? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif )

    Hi Ryan,

I think Chris was referring to me about my comment about the flaming (I got a bit carried away, as usual! /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

50-70 quid for a flight sound's reasonable, you can pay up to that for a return train ticket from London! It also takes out the hassle of a train journey. A taxi from Manchester Airport to the City Centre would cost about 20 quid, but if their is a few of you, it will make it 5 quid each, it saves a LOT of pissing about getting a bus or whatever instead.

on the arcade thing, damn!!! i cant believe that troc can import tingz like fzero and initalD 2nd and 3rd with bloody card system and not get final tuneed!!!

maybe the "inital D crew" could talk them in to getting final tuned!

for domestic flights (and in fact flights to EU countries) you only need photo ID.. like the new drivers license. maybe even a railcard would be enough! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Ryan,

Sorry I didn't mean you were flaming someone at all I was replying to SlimAdey as I saw an inevitable war of words brewing between Elite, Ev2, Ironmike and SlimAdey...that has since spilled back onto our own Jamboree thread so it's ok, I just didn't want things kicking off here.

As for the cost of travel up here, I'm afraid I can't help much but it looks like others have got some things sussed already.

As for the standard of play, I'm not going to lie and say we're all amazing as we're not but there will be at least 4/5 strong north based players there on the day, so I hope everyone enjoys themselves.

OK, look, train from Manchester to London is £20 return as long as you book 7 days in advance. I am going to euston a week before the tournament to buy my ticket, I have done this many times before so if anyone wants to come mabye we could meet up beforehand to make sure we get on the same train? It would be cool if we could all travel together and make the journy go faster. Traveling time is about 2 and a half hours so I always take my laptop and watch some films etc the time isn't that bad, it takes me an hour to get to my uni in the morning and an hour to get back then half an hour to work! lol, and thats on a train with swety londeners.

also, the women in manchester are very easy, especially if you know where to go, mabye we could organise something here on the forum? it would be fun to do something other than just play games (although 24 7 games is still an option:)

Ade, nice matches on friday. text me if your intrested in italy ok?

Ev2: why are you trying to put me down? when i met you you wasn't saying bad things about me then so why now? have i said anything about you? no. But that is your problem, you are so insecure about yourself that winning on vf and being negative about everything makes you feel better. I feel so sorry for you, your such a negative and horrible person inside it pushes everyone away from you, and then you say you don't have any friends and you don't care. You don't care because you are weak, it takes strengh to be nice and interesting person. But you are neither, instead of practicing your vf skills, why not practice your life and social skills? I don't know how you live but from the little things I picked up on when we talked it seems you don't live in a very good situation, this is even more reason for you to change your bad habits. I'm not trying to hate on you or pick on you I'm just telling the truth. Life is too short for bullshit, theres already too much of that so just think about what i said before you cuss me because Im not going to reply to you again and don't bother trying to speak to me if we meet in manchester, I've already had too many people like you in my life, I don't need any more.

Is there any point bringing SF EX plus alpha Chris? I thought that it isn't a very popular version. Don't people like the 2D ones better?

In all honesty I'd rather play VF all day, especially with so many people I haven't played before it'd be a waste not to get as many games as possible in.

Shaun: Don't reply to Mike, it isn't worth clogging up the thread.

Yeah ok no worries, we can have a few casual matches with it some other time.

My D Dark skills are.......adequate. Not. Garudas in it too right? Hmm may go and have to play round on it now.

Though, I think we'll still have one set up for Hyper SF or ProEvo since others have expressed an interest in playing them.

Oh yeah Shaun and Mike if it's at all possible, could you take this discussion to PM please?

Ken and Kairi own that game. Garuda is in it yeah, Shaun plays the cheap powered up versions of Akuma and Garuda because he's shit at it. Powered up Garuda is stupidly good, he only needs to land one super and you're doomed.

Yeah, i suck at that one, so i pick the enhanced guys. but i win when i am then, so i can just keep telling myself that it was an honest and fair win.........

p.s. i took my arguement to the north uk thread.

garuda is arguably the best in ex games, hell i remember breaking a 2day old pad just doing all those combo tasks on streetfighter EX2, cant even fix it, the "down" broke off:)

but yea looking forward to hyper sf2, capcom5/sfcolection2 is a bit crap, was playing it at a friends house last week, they took out kens vacum hurrican!

on the london note, yea mike, thats a good idea we should all go down on the same train an then go out after:)

I didn't find the ordinary version of Garuda much good since his moves seemed to be quite weak, admittedly I never delved too deep into the game so he might have shitloads of stuff I didn't know about.

I like guys with dragonpunches anyway.

P.S. I'm in your group for the tourny, which characters do you use?

    LOL, juts been playing it.

I've got SF EX plus alpha and SF EX2. Just been going through all those crazy trial combos too. Couldn't land this weird Ryu one that was like 7 things chained in. Last 2/3 parts juts weren't happening.

Oh yeah the Deluxe vs on SF collection 2 is stupidly fast (8 star) but the picture seems a little squashed on my tv. BUT it does have the proper old school music and voices (even the anouncer) as well as handicap and you can use WW, CE and Turbo chars which is decent. Of course you can't use Akuma but he's in Hyper alright /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

If you're looking to go out on the town after, I'm just round the corner from a few good pubs and about 15 mins down the road from town and about 10 mins away from student drinking central Fallowfield in the opposite way.

Are you talking about the combo training on Ex Plus Alpha? I did all those (eventually) except the ones for guile and bison because I'm absolutely rubbish at timing the "hold backwards for a second" crap.

Is there a trick to that btw? Like crouch dashing in VF?

  17. LM_Akira

    LM_Akira Well-Known Member

Yeah the combo lists are more or less the same in both games.

The Ryu one was like jump in attack, attack, attack, super hurricane kick, super dragonball, super hurricane kick or something. I think you need to use a super cancel in there somewhere to make it connect.

D Dark was always my fav anyways.

As for Guile etc in HyperSF and other 2d ones I have you can charge with [1_]...so you can do [1_][6][P] for a sonic boom or [1_][8][K] for somersault kick so I always charge with [1_] as you have 2 options open. You can charge almost anywhere too which is good eg falling though the air, in a combo, start of a round etc.

As for EX plus alpha it doesn't seem to work, dunno haven't tried much out on it, may later tonight.

When I did that Ryu combo I did the commands REAAAAAALLY fast. I don't know if there's a trick but the hardest part for me was the super hadouken after the hurricane kick because once you're off the floor I don't think you can cancel into the hadouken.

That game was FUN, I might have to buy it again....

Yeah tell me about it, the music is ace too!

Yeah that's the part that wasn't connecting for me. I've a feeling it depends on what P/K you're using, I dunno. I think super cancels were added to EX2, dunno about Alpha. EX2 though...it had the excel mode and guard break. Fucking crazy!

I have all three, but 3 is pretty wank imo they really ruined the combo challenge aspect of it.
