nevermind, at least some are still going to make it, and it will mean that we can all get more games in, plus, Chris should now be able to enter the tournament, so i guess there are ups and downs to it, but i still wish some more could make it!

Saver returns and cheap apex tickets generally always must be purchased a month in advance. That's the way the shonky UK rail service has worked for years.

 

Everything is still going ahead as planned but if we have numbers drop to such an extent that there are only 3 or 4 in each group then what we'll do is have everyone in a group play one another twice instead of once. That way everyone will be getting more games in and have a better chance of going through even if they mess up a match or two.

Depending on numbers I may change the HSF2 thing to a mini league.

If you don't mind staying over for the Saturday (ask LMAkira) there are still 16 squid (each way) journeys with Virgin at the following times:

Leaving Euston on the Friday:

12:00 (same as mine)

Leaving Manchester on the Sunday:

10:32

& 21 quid tickets @ 18:32 & 19:59 for the Sunday

I don't mind sponsering somebody from London as long as they agree to pay me back. I can buy the tickets with my CC and have them sent to my place.

 

I don't know if anyone realises it, but travelling on train's on Friday is a BAD thing, they are a LOT more expensive than every other day of the week. Fucking Richard Branson, the robbing cocksucker!

funfare (very limited) £17.75

thats for both ways.....the journey is around 4 hours 40 either way but since there would be a group we would survive easy..anyhow, thats the cheapest solution i came up with

After almost a week has gone by and I can see almost half of the people have decided not to attend the tournament due to commitments or travel problems.

I thought it be best if I told the northern lads my situation. Now I don't have any problems getting tickets but I do have one major problem.

Going outward to Manchester is not a problem, it's coming back which is a major pain, basically on the weekend of the tournament there are major rail engineering works being carried out on my route and as such affected the trains so I don't have a guaranteed (savers) trip back to Reading. So coming back will be really expensive and long.

I'm still trying to find some guaranteed way of getting back to Reading, so I'm still not out of the tournament.
But depending on what I find will determine if I can make it or not.

I will post again on the 22nd for final confirmation.

Hi All, to shed some good light in this situation, I would just like to say that Stalwart is now coming again, I also spoke to Jun and he is now up for it too. He said he just has to check with his lady first. I was speaking with Hatim yesterday and he is planning to hire a van to take bare heads with him, we dont know what will come of it yet so its just an idea for the moment.

Also I phoned the train company yesterday and if you book 7 days in advance you can go from London to Manchester for just £16!!!!!!!!!

If you book 14 days in advance it's £11 which means it would have been just £22 return but oh well, thats the way it goes I guess.
Anyway £32 is not that bad, just £10 difference and it's not like you are gonna do this all the time. Probably won't have this chance again so you should jump on this guys.
