i am betting that you will still trounce us all, even with your worst character.

as for the team thing, do you honestly think that us Northern players will stand a chance. i mean, we are all willing, but what are the chances of anyone beating Ryan Hart seriously. from what Andy told me, he is in a totally different league from EVERYONE else, so i think that, even if he was to be in his own team, he would still win.
never the less, i am confident that i will destroy him with Rubbish Jeff!

Chris, i am now able to, sometimes notice when i am in open stance (i am only learning this one for now) and successfullly pull of stance specific combos without making it obvious that i am looking for a combo starter. are you proud of me? i will be able to do your Akira combos in no time!!!

 

Nice one Shaun, if you're playing AS Akira, remember that the only time you can really use his to end a combo is in OPEN stance [except after SDE(MC) and QCB+P say, you can do djk follow ups in either]

Watching stance with Jacky is a really good thing to do though since you'll be able to reach the higher echelons of combo damage with him (especially vs LWs and MWs).

To the guys coming on the friday, looks like we may have 2 set ups going after all, possibly even 3 if Nakura can make it.

Oh and randomly, not sure if I've mentioned this or not even though it's fairly obvious, can everyone bring their own sticks along as well please (if they have/use one), that way there'll be enough to go around...oh and no one can blame losing on not using their own stick /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

URRRR.....random buddy, ...as long as VF is the name of the game and they ARE characters in it, they are nothing but REAL, the fact you may have problems against them (slight cough) is just tough homes, you got a good kage and i stress enough trying to beat him so all`s fair in war aiight....

As for the womens team, if every woman in the game is represented thats all got, even if my character looks like she dabbled abit with the steriods and stuff...

as funny as this is, it is also sickeningly true. i have often wondered what the secret behind the BEST players is. how do they manage to do Evading Quad Throw Escape Guard, and then be able to pull of Character and Stance Specific combos?????/

I personally don't find recognizing foot stance that hard TBH, all you have to remember is that the foot stance at the beginning of the round is closed (apart from against Brad!) and learn the moves for your own character and the character your fighting's moves that change foot stance. Also learn the way your feet go when you tech roll in clockwise/anti-clockwise direction.

Now I put it like that, it does sound complicated! LOL. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Only joking, when you learn the system, it'll eventually become second nature. It sound strange, but I recognize foot stance with my Jacky WAAAY more than any of my other characters, probably due to Jacky's ability to change foot stance at will (the skank! LOL).

 

Pai and Jeff can also change stance really easily...all you do is hold a little and they'll change stance.

As for top tier players...dunno I guess they just practice and play the game like crazy. Play as many different people as often as possible. *shrugs*

 

you might be able to do this against the shitty computer A.I. but when you are playing against someone who punishes for hesistating, even a second, it becomes quite difficult to put this into practice.
that hardest thing for me, is not to slip into the mentality of "look at the stance, spam out the float start regardless of the opponents actions". this usually results in me getting smacked on a MC by a faster move, and eating a 50+ combo from Kage!
i can watch stance against the A.I. because it gives me time to stand and check stance, and doesn't press for the advantage in the same way that an opponent who is human will do. i think at the tournament i will try and stick to non-stance specific combos untill i am better practiced with them. (although i am now conditioned into doing OPEN stance combos regardless of weather or not i managed to check stance, which some times leads to an embarrassing combo that misses the opponent totally!)
i guess more practice is in order....................

 

I can nail foot stance specific combo's in 2 player too (remember I play Mye every week), but I agree it is easier VS the CPU. Mye nail's foot stance specific combo's 99% of the time, maximising the damage he can take off in a certain combo.

I just remember to see if you can see your opponent's back or chest's. Two back's or two chest's open stance, one of each, closed. (V Brad the stance start's in Open BTW). Learn when you tech the leg that is forward (so you can check your foot stance), cos it is different anti clockwise and clockwise (I can't remember off hand, check Hiro's sytem memo.

To LM_akira, got some bad news, im gonna have to opt out of this tournament as im paying for my college course next week which is setting me back £500+ and will mean im tottally skint for the rest of the month, I thought I would have enough money but guess it seems I don't. Very sorry for the inconviniance but best to tell you now then not telling you at all

Yeah, Ax Battler is a load of crap but Tyrius Flare has great magic (bets in the game) and good moves (being an amazon after all!).

Yeah it's a real shame about Maximum and G_Ho, still, I'd rather know now rather than people just not showing up on the day.
