Hey all, I was one of the newcomers to the event, cheers to everyone that help make it happen it was awesome! ^__^

There were 2 firsts for me - my 1st time at one of these meetups and 1st time for offline play, I truly envy those of you that get to have regular offline matches /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

The level of play was so different to the random games I get on player matches it was great! ..I now crave fighting stronger opponents /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Yup, I was also guilty of this.. thing is I knew I was doing it and at the time I kept thinking 'stop blocking, start attacking!' ..but I just couldn't stop myself! I normally (try to) play more aggressively but my whole game felt a bit off - even when I had the opportunity I don't even think I landed one combo - fun fact! Repeatedly doing move counters instead of following up a float combo gets your ass kicked >__<

Thanks to Too_Sober for vids and pics, didn't manage to get everyones names/tags so can put names to faces now /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

yeah easiest way to avoid the throws is to master fuzzy guarding, it's not a good idea to leave your character standing there as your vunerable to 0 frame throws which you can't attack out of on reflex.
Next time maybe 1 setup can be used for showing techniques learning.

 

I didn't know Knee ninja was there. I played him but didn't recognize him at the time though I thought he looked familiar.

On a somewhat related note if 20 people can get to Glasgow in October (or November, whatever is most accesible) I'll give the winner of a VF5 tournament £500.

Not exactly a lot of money, but hopefully enough to tempt people to come up north.

i think knee pretty much covered it, except fuzzy guard isnt crazy mad in VF5 because i think VF5 plays abit more patient than 4.

Well the idea is that the community section of the site will be a calendar of events held by gaming communities, and that's why I was interested in talking to the folk organising it - that and I'd love to feature them in an interview, so the folk in the know can give newcomers an idea of what to expect from Virtua Fighter.

My site's just about made, it just needs content - content like this.

The idea behind it is just to bring the wider gaming community together a little bit more, you know what I mean? Celebrate their contribution to video game culture and the communities they serve. I'd love to help get their meets and tournaments noticed, because I really think it's time we all took this out of the virtual space and into the real world.

If you want to post these PM's on the board or something, that's cool. Like I said, I'm interested in talking to the people involved in making the site, as well as the folk organising the tournaments. From there, it's all about interviews and getting their events on a calendar that the wider community can reference.

If you're still unsure on how best to approach this, don't hesitate to shoot back another PM. I'm just thinking off the top of my head, so I don't expect my approach to this is the easiest one to take.

 

Sounds interesting, if he needs a few people just to interview about vf I'm sure we can arrange that for a suitable time, maybe at the next session?

Re:Seidon that is a generous offer! I'll have to say a maybe for myself depending on other commitments but a group going up could be an option..

 

Make sure and let me know if your plans change or whatever.

Ideally I'd like to get as many people as possible to come up.

Don't think this means I don't want to come down to a London meet because I really do.

But getting time off of work is hard and the shorter the notice the harder it's going to be, especially when you consider I would have to arrange for travel and accomodation down south.

The reason I said October or November is because they are still a little way off. I decided against December because I don't think many people will want to be playing video games during the festive season.

Anyway, let me know what you're thinking.
