Hey Tony. You said I was going through a slump? I think it's more than a slump. It's a complete crash and burn. I've put hours into dojo mode with command and free training but for some reason it doesn't translate over into real fights. Whatever it is I gotta figure it out if I wanna compete with anyone.

The second match hidden in tony's youtube page is waaaay better, there's two nice oki moments, Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif backstagger and vane's catch throw against the wall making her end up behind brad. Plus i am not caught doing a failed pounce /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Concerning the first match, i'm having a major brainfreeze due to tony radically changing his playstyle. Keep away Brad? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif Makes for some really awkward moments /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

For the record, vanessa's charge punch is neutral on block for the mid version and a mere -1 for the low version. So it's not a good idea to try and throw her afterwards since she's most likely to try and press the offensive.

But, as tony has already stated, it is my humble understanding that Vanessa vs Brad is as close to a "bad matchup" as VF5 gets.

In order to guess who's going to win you can't scroll down and read the comments (if any) cuz that's cheating /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

NuclearRaven, I think you're just expecting too much too soon. None of the top players got as good as they are in weeks or even months. It takes years to get good in VF. So just sit tight, keep practicing and as the months go by you will see improvement. There's a lot of things that you can practice to get your timing, muscle memory and reaction time to improve. Practicing fuzzy guarding, ETEG, hit-checking and proper reactions to 2P.
I don't want to crap on any other game out there so I won't mention any names but VF is not like any other fighting game that I've played where after a few hours of practice I can start kicking ass. It will take you a long time to master advanced tactics but you should really be focusing on basics. Get the fundamentals down first and have patience.

Erdraug, I hope to one day be able to play you offline man. I think that you use Vane's many sabaki options and backwalk speed very well, to the point where it makes your style (not just your character) difficult for me to deal with.
Looking forward to playing you in VF5R if we get it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

not to be a dick tone, b/c you know i love you, but i have to take exeption to a Q&A at the bottom of the Kingofvf youtuble.

    lord of ice:
How did you pull that off!? During the fifth round I'm thinking "no way" and then you pull off a huge comeback. Great fight Tony.

you: Thanks bro. KingofVF4 is a great player and I had to try to outthink him in order to win. Don't know if you've heard of "yomi" but it translates to "reading" as in "reading your opponent". I read that he was expecting either an attack that he could Ying/Yang or a throw and my full circular at the end would beat both his Ying/Yang and an E.T.E.G. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

    hmmm, fishy.
Anytime i've pulled off late game heroics versus you (or middle game heroics, or even early game heroics) and have attributed it to good yomi, you've let me know that lei fei is op, and that online he gets an extra boost, and that he rivals dural, and etc...

But here i hear you using my logic to explain a close win against someone who is probably a superior player, and i don't see any attributions of: well i use brad who is slightly OP and definitely so compared to lowly old aoi, and i'm in florida and he's in france, so there is some lag, and brad only becomes THAT MUCH STRONGER in laggy environments while aoi doesn't advantage from that situation.

It can't go both ways. You can't discredit my yomi and accredit my op character choice and lag, and then turn around and accredit your win to good yomi, in effect discrediting brads op'ness and the matches lag.

If that fight woulda been me eeking out a victory with lei fei over ur brad, i know you would have sent me a pm over xbl complaining about online and lei fie, i know you would have buddy.

eh, you are probably right shag. lol, i just read the comments and had a "wait just a moment" moment.

All that being said, good matches you've uploaded tony. Wish i coulda played you more after you leveled it up, b/c you look a lot stronger in these vids than last time i played you! But its hard to say, the games much different when you aren't having to work against lei fei and his damn doku 2k stagger options all night long. haha, damn monk. (this is a pot shot at lei fei, not you tfam /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif )

... I'm a little bit torn about how to respond to your recent posts... it's almost like you did a split personality thing on me. I mean, we had talked about this EXTENSIVELY through PM's back and forth and now you just made me look like some douche who can't take a loss from your amazing-but-doesn't-get-any-props-cuz-VFDC's-just-a-popularity-contest-Lei-Fei... I don't know man, I should prob take Coz advice and not even answer but it's just going to eat at me the way that things that I said (or you THOUGHT I was saying) ate at you, so, I might as well deal with it publicly (since, obviously, that's how you want it) and maybe we can lay this to rest and not have it come up again.

    "hmmm, fishy.
Anytime i've pulled off late game heroics versus you (or middle game heroics, or even early game heroics) and have attributed it to good yomi, you've let me know that lei fei is op, and that online he gets an extra boost, and that he rivals dural, and etc..."

Anytime, huh? I just can't take a loss, can I? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif Maybe this is what you want: Smb, your yomi is amazing. You truly are one of the best players that never got the recognition that you deserved even though you are so great. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

"But here i hear you using my logic"
    Your logic?
"to explain a close win against someone who is probably a superior player"
How do you know this? Is this a fact or an opinion? Here's a major difference between us: I think most people I play are better than me EVEN IF I get more wins agaisnt them online. It's been proven to me since I actually have SHOWED UP TO OFFLINE EVENTS that players like Maddy, Adam and CidKid can beat my ass offline but online I manage to get a lot more wins than I ever could offline against these top players. Fact, not opinion. Fact.

"and i don't see any attributions of: well i use brad who is slightly OP and definitely so compared to lowly old aoi, and i'm in florida and he's in france, so there is some lag, and brad only becomes THAT MUCH STRONGER in laggy environments while aoi doesn't advantage from that situation."
Not only do you not know how bad lag is or isn't between me and Kingo but there's no need for me to tell him anything or him me anything. Regardless of who wins our battles online, Kingo is the superior player. This I know and so does everybody else. One match where I happen to win (and for anybody that thinks that I only uploaded it cuz I won: you're an idiot) does not take away that fact. Regardless of the outcome of that match, I thought that was a fun match and I was going to save it and upload it. I happen to beat him cuz at the end of a match, it's still a guessing game and he happened to guess wrong this ONE time. That's it.

"It can't go both ways." Lulz
"You can't discredit my yomi and accredit my op character choice and lag, and then turn around and accredit your win to good yomi, in effect discrediting brads op'ness and the matches lag."
I can tell that you haven't read a lof of the comments on some of my vids or else you would have seen a lot of my replies to me beating better players online is... wait for it... lag. On that last hit it wasn't lag for a few reasons that are obvious if you actually WATCH THE MATCH. Did you see how I won? How exactly can using a full circular high to stop eteg/ying-yang/mid-reversal be considered unbalanced BS or online BS from Brad?
    It's not.
Lmfao, oh man, if Brad gets a boost online, what does Lei get? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
Now I don't want to get into opinion-based arguments about which character is OP and which isn't cuz, for example, there's people out there who think that Dural is NOT OP and she should be allowed to be used in tournaments? It's true.

"If that fight woulda been me eeking out a victory with lei fei over ur brad, i know you would have sent me a pm over xbl complaining about online and lei fie, i know you would have buddy.
    /off soap box/ "
    No, I wouldn't have, "buddy".
If you beat me using a full-circular high to stop my evade or mid-kick reversal I wouldn't have "complained" about shit. It really sucks that you chose to characterize me as this immature, arrogant, sore-loser since we're supposed to be "friends" and all. Oh well, the good thing is over 95% of VFDC members know that I'm not. There's one person who is too far gone now to even listen to me, whom I regret putting in that small percentage of people who think that I can't take a loss and that's Tsua.
Tsua, I know it doesn't matter to you now and all but I'm sorry that my dislike for one move in the game which you relied on to beat me with made me come accross as such an asshole to you. My bad.
But you can ask anybody else here if they ever received a disparaging messages from me after they beat me. According to you, players like Cozby and VFNumbers only get props because they showed up to an event and now everybody is kissing their asses talking about how great of players they are but you are so wrong.
VFNumbers gained his respect not only from being a smart player online but he really shot up when he played Konjou on a big screen. It was awesome, you had to be there. True, kick ass yomi. None of that PPP or KKK Lei bullshit. That stuff doesn't work so well offline anyway /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I met and played both these Lei players offline and their play level shoots up 50% or more offline. Most players (like myself) their play level goes up 10-25% offline. While players like Maddy, Adam and CidKid their play level shoots up like 90% offline.

Smb, I already told you what it is that you do in tight situations when you're in trouble. While being attacked, most people press the block button. There are those that just keep tapping up on the joystick hoping to evade one of those attacks.
What you do is you mash PPP. In small disadvantage your opponent thinks that they're going to a)keep hitting you with attacks or b)throw you. You deny both with Lei's strong PPP options. Not only do you get out of trouble but you also put your opponent in a guessing situation with Lei in one of his strongest stances.

I told you that you rely on tricks to win and you agreed. You even told me that YOU KNOW that Lei's OP... but here you are /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
I'm sorry if it hurts but you do not have the skills of a VFNumbers or a Cozby. You just don't. Sorry.
I've never met Erdraug in person (something that, according to you, had to happen for people to get props) but I had to give him his props because it takes yomi to pull off Vane's sabakis. It's not like she can just go into stance that automatically reverses high punches/low punches/mid punches/mid elbows and high elbows.

Honestly, I'm confused. What is it that you want? You say you don't want props... but then you do... but then you don't.
You say you don't want recognition... but then you do... but then you don't =/
    What do you want?

I've the criticism before that "so-and-so" primarily posts their wins, and i just wanted to point out that there is a reason that goes deeper than just a self-serving ego boost, which i don't believe is why people people post there wins.

From my experience, when u post a match u REALLY want to post a good, well played match. WHen u watch urself play, ur mistakes are magnified and stick out so sorely,it is hard to view the match as being well played. In fact for me, all my losses looked completely scrubby. I have matches saved against None Other where i lose by 1 hit in the 4th or 5th round and my end looks so scrubby i was hesitant to put it up, even though i took one of the better players to the limit.

On the other hand, i recorded i set vs Cozby's developing akira where i did very well and youtubed it. At the time, i had planned to record and post sets consistently. Had i done so, i would have many losing efforts vs various opponents up for public viewing. Because life got in the way of gaming, and i never made a 2nd or 3rd installation, i look like an asshole, cause there is only one set of me winning vs a better player listed in my youtube vids.

    Sorry Tony,
didnt mean to cause a rift, over video game bullshit. It was a little petty of me to post it up here in the thread, i shoulda just ignored the whole thing, or sent you a pm. It wasn't meant to be taken as an expression of where I thought your game is, or what i thought of my game. It struck me when i read it, and then I expounded upon it on here, as i have a tendency to do.

To give a little explenation of a couple of the things you questioned:
The reason I said superior player on Kingofvf is b/c he's one of the best players i've ever played (no disrespect intended) and the reason i assumed there was lag was b/c he's on a different continent. :shrugs:

Yes, I've told you and I have no problem telling anyone, I think lei fei is OP, and you can use him and become very strong at the game without having to learn the game like you would jeff or others. he operates under a different set of rules, ones that require less patience and are easier (if not to master) then at least to get good at. Catch someone in one mistake, and lights out on half the power, if they can't quick recover then lei goes to an even higher level...but all that is moot.

I highlighted the main two portions of that email that i didn't like. Just b/c I got worked up and spoke out of turn, doesn't mean we need to throw quotation marks around words like friend, and buddy, does it? If it does i guess it does, but i hope the (internet only) friendship we developed isnt that fragile.

You don't have to say it, i will, I was only borderline average at this game. Never great, didn't suck. Never got a chance to play offline, so how i'd fare offline isn't a discussion. I DID have more than ppp and didn't simply rely on ppp everytime i got in trouble. sweeps maybe, but i steered away from ppp to my detriment at times, lol.

At any rate, sorry to come in and blast you on public display, that wasn't what i was going for on the first post. Not trying to paint a picture of you as a poor loser, or as an inferior competitor. Our games were always back and forth, and before I moved to alaska and lag took over, more than competitive enough to keep us both coming back despite whoever was winning that session. At least until one or the other of us got exhausted at brad or lei's shennanegans and had to call it a set /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Obviously I don't consider you a poor sport, or a bad person, or I wouldn't have taken the time to have as much discussion on games and life as i have with you. I hope you don't feel all the things you said in that response and just got a little worked up like i did in my first post, which is understandable.

either way, i'm glad you chose to post up how you felt about it, rather air it out then just put a cap on it and say, peace out.

Anyways, just wanted to give you a public apology, as I unwittingly insulted you publicly.

    hope its all cool bro.

It's cool man, you showed me with this last post that you're still a class act. You could've gone another route and I'm glad that you didn't cuz that woulda sucked for the both of us to just start defending each other's egos publicly XD
You're right, this is petty and dumb, so I'm all for squashing it. I did feel blindsided cuz you came accross like you understood what I was saying, even if you didn't agree at least you understood that I'm not trying to say that you suck. I don't know if you're just being modest when you say that our games went back and forth cuz I don't think so. I think you've always got the best of our sessions. Online does make a bit of a difference (a lot if you're a really good player) but whose to say that you wouldn't BEAST on me offline the way that Maddy did when I met him. For all I know your offline game is 50% stronger while mine is only 10% *shrugs* Who knows? Only way to find out would be for you to show up to the next gathering /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
Lemme know ahead of time so I can make plans and attend, meet and get some quality games in.

Anyway, didn't mean to come off as that big of a dick either. I only said "buddy" and "friends" cuz these were words that you used in those first two posts where I felt you came accross as anything but.
I don't have anything against you and I'm sure that you have more than PPP or KKK... sadly, that's one of the few things that I was able to pick up on when we played. That's my bad cuz I'm sure that if I payed better attention I coulda seen much more of your skillset.

I say we let bygones be bygones and we chalk up this whole mess to the lack of VF in our lives /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
Retirement from VF can make say crazy things XD
