This statement is the best advice to players wondering what to do when you get throw counterable moves blocked.

Sorry, I made a mistake there. I meant to say that is the best advice for people trying to do triple throw escapes. There are other options you can do when for example you get a knee blocked... But as far as trying to do triple throw escape is concerned, that is imo the best advice.

As a monumental scrub myself, I do one of two things during those
long moments of recovery when throws or MC are likely to happen:
start mashing like hell to CD/run away, or eat the throw which I
actually prefer. Throws may do more damage, but the psychological
destruction of a major MC and a float wipe-out performed on
me is where I lose matches. Much better to figure out what you're going to
do to the opp. when you get up from the throw. Better than the burning face
you get when you've just gotten PPPK'd into a wall and PPPK'd again, and
    recovering from that.

What about crouching TE? Some of my friends think it is slightly more difficult in heated battles because, in my (and their) case, I always forgot that crouching TE uses 3 buttons ([P]+[K]+[G]) instead of just 2 ([P]+[G]). Hence I always wrongly mashed [P]+[G] when after I'm smashed to the floor, I said to myself, "Whoops! I forgot the [K] button. And the escape direction! Damn!"

Oh, and TTEG is insane. In a good and bad way. I admit that I'm a newbie in TE game (and quite suck at it), but I think that it would require an insane hand speed to mash three TE then hold G. A slow hand attempting TTEG would probably either make a grabbing motion in the 2nd or 3rd TE before they could hold [G], or the game only counts one out of three TE attempts because either the TE is too early or too late. I know. I'm that slow hand. /versus/images/icons/confused.gif

One question about throw escapes. If we're both just standing there (you know, one of those retarded moments when you're both trying to think of what to try next), can I hold [G] and buffer the throw escapes in case I think he's going to throw. I know that they can only be escaped at certain frame windows. I just want to know, because in that situation, hitting [direction]+[P]+[G] in an attempt to escape would result in you attempting to throw.

I don't think so, since I can't see how you you press P+G without letting go of G first (VF's buffer system is not like tekken's where you can hold "1" and then press "2" to get "1+2"). Also, if you're both just standing there and you "buffer in" a throw escape, aren't you really entering a throw command? Hence, you get the grip animation and hopefully a throw out of it.

    cheers,

Alright, thanks. For the record, could you please explain VF's buffer system since it's not like tekken's. I was brought up on tekken, so I'm too used to it and the simplistic throw escapes. That was my main concern.

Also, since you can't buffer the throw in that situation (both people paused out of fear), if you opponent reaches in for the throw, is the frame window to escape large enough for the average player to at least get off one throw escape?

You know what, forget all of my questions...I answered them myself. I know VF's buffer system...I've done the tutorial so many times. I just need to speed up my thought process.

And I'm thinking in terms of tekken where throws can SOMETIMES get priority. Here in VF, attacks always beat throws. So if we're both standing like idiots and I fear the throw, I should throw out a few pokes instead of just sitting there worrying.

Man. What an awesome game /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

right on afro. An example of this is when you get low punch major countered. If some hits you with low punch on major counter, its a good idea to do a big move if you think they are going to throw. This works well against jeffrey and wolf. But other characters can be hurt by this as well. This is an example of what you are talking about with pokes.
