thoughts on VF5R

    You complaining too much man. Not having defensive moves like this is a natural Sarah weakness. That's not the issue that was really needed to be fixed in 5. It's that her offensive is not effective when hitboxes whiff, lacking rewarding links, and lack of key striking properties to foil sabaki's and reversals. It means her initiative was stripped, which will have you constantly giving up what you earned.

    Now, having a defensive attacking option in normal stance would be nice, that's about it. That shit would be some kind of big bonus.

    Yeah I know about how her moves whiff for no reason and some of her damage off some moves and advantages aren't that great. But that looks (so far) to be improved. But would 1 defensive move really change her syle? O.k. I admit it.... I have sabaki envy.

    O.k. enough about Sarah. This ain't a Sarah thread.

    Aoi looks so complete now. She's got options on top of her old options. A real nice move she now has is what looks like a knee right out of her cancels. The opponent must block/SS/reversal it or get launched if the try to interrupt (does it launch? my memory is failing me) This makes it easier for her to put more pressure with the rest of her movelist when she doesn't do the knee. She can go into her BT YY for offense! That is heavy.

    If there's anything that I think is worrisome gameplay-wise it's Taka's weight issues. Wolf and Jeffrey didn't get the weight advantages Taka gets. Aoi can barely throw the guy and I've even seen one of Goh's throws not hit with the force it would with anyone else. I assume you can hit him with more ground stuff but I haven't seen his techrolls be any more slower than anybody else and his sidesteps dodge linears as if he were Pai. His pluses outweigh his minuses...... From what I've seen of course.

    ummmm...anybody read this and think to themselve 'that's not how percentages work at all.' As a matter of fact percentages are almost the exact opposite of this point. oh well

People always see things in other character at they wish was in theirs.

    I didn't read what TWP said. I thought you were referencing the chart, my fault. Yes, TWP read the chart wrong. The more moves a player has the lower that percentage is likely to fall where the less moves they have the higher that percentage is. With that being said if Jeff has 100 moves only 17 are punishable. So Jeff has a very low amount of punishable moves.

    Most of the stuff we've seen may not be included in the final version of the game. Every footage out there is base on the BETA, it doesn't repersent the final product. So who knows what combos will actually make it.
    I remember last week Denkai, show me a Jeff wall combo(That shit was insane), and Shun's low throw(From new stance), into a hit setup to Chibita's Lion, that connected. This combos, I know for a FACT, will not be in the final version of the game. Just like Ken's double dragon punch combo in the Street Fighter 2HD BETA. So people RELAX.

    The only really "unsafe" move oniku uses is 43pp, and most people can't / don't interrupt it because they're scared of the delay.

    Jeff can certainly be played high risk / high reward, but he doesn't have to be.

    You have to remember that risk isn't one-sided, it's the collective risk of both sides - i.e. your risk of executing a move, as well as the opportunity provided to your opponent. It's additive. In my opinion, either tone down the float damage, or reduce everyone's ability for defensive techniques. Bring back the P+G and 1 direction throw throw-escape system a la VF3. The defensive techniques that have been added to the game are the defining factor in creating scenarios that have big damage and low additive risk.

    I'm in Denkai's camp on this one. While Jeff is "supposed to be" the riskiest, slow, big damage character - he is far from it. I do think that it's quite astounding what Jeff can get for a Knee, even on normal hit. I don't think it requires a whole lot of "skill" to land a knee in game at all. And if blocked, how hard is it to remove many options your opponent may have? E-DTEG is remarkably good at making the knee less risky overall.

    Again folks(like I mention before)This combos or setups you see, might not be in the final version of the game. Everything we've seen are base on the BETA. So, theres no point in moaning and crying over Jeff's wall combo, or Shun's new low throw(From new stance)setup. There's a reason why they do BETA testing, to find bugs or exploits. I'm sure a lot of things will get toned down. But yeah, I'm in the FJC crew(Fuck Jeff Camp)Just because all the cool kids are down with it, lol.

    Headbutt is only especially good against lion (cause of the bounce + dmg) or people who want to spam sabakis.

    Just to be clear . . .

    Normalhit: ~80 (more if one of the few double-bounce chars & no recovery, less if hw or wrong stance mw)
    Blocked: ~50 guaranteed from standing-palm type punishers. (its been a long time since i've played pai, but I think you get K ~ PP4PK for about 55, maybe less if stance is wrong)

    I wouldnt assume all of this to be final. I think there will be Revisions like an A,B,C, version to this game. Seeing that at Loke test time everybody just playing the game checking things out. There might be additional moves added before the game final released. Anyways i welcome it with open arms. ITs been 2 years since VF5 dropped anyway this was due.

    Llanfair, not to sound too condescending or anything though I realize I'll come across as it, but some advice for your VF game -- if you block Jeff's knee, do a guaranteed counter and don't let him E-whatever. You'll do a lot better against Jeffrys who like to knee.

    Agreed, Jeff's knee is counterable. Pardon my rookie comments. My point is, expressed earlier, the defensive techniques in the game have, imo, gone too far to providing an excess of options that dilute the risk/reward system.

    Edited to avoid creating more nonsensical posts that converge on wanting to push Ice-9 into traffic.

    jeez, this is not what i had in mind when i put up this post. i just wanted to know if people liked what they were seeing from VF5R, i did not want too start a forum war it was a simple yes i like it or no i dont and this is why! i wasnt expecting specifics like command inputs and such its a video game and meant to be fun. i didnt know this game was this personal theres no need too get verbally abusive i play shun and i kinda like his new moves they build up his style and seem too flow too make him the trickster he should be as far as i can tell from visuals everyone seems to have new moves too compliment their play style when the game hits the U S, CANADA and EUROPE then we can complain if we dont like it but most of the arguing is premature and the personal attacks are unnessesary!!!! chill out thers so much more to do with vf5 thats probably not been exploited lets wreck eachother with this one before we kill eachother over a game some of us hasnt even played yet
