Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Which strikes me as funny because the amount of FLA 0-frame throws i've eaten greatly surpasses the sum of 0-frame throws i've eaten from the rest of the cast. But i guess mirror matches are another story /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Im with you 100% ActionKungFu=Slide. In some instances I back tossed opp into the wall with Wolf, Jeff and Nessa and they dont even get staggered. Its like, depending on the connections you can only use certain moves. Subakis dont work well with some connections, 0f TE getting you sucks, improper proper inputs suck bolluks, not being able to cd into crouch in time vs low hits, delayed move still getting beat by DMPK, it all sucks but I know how to solve that. I played Dennis a while back in player match, It was a beutifull thing. Dennis played like a real gentleman. Abare is not his forte. My point is ranked isnt shit, link up with peopl you like and enjoy. You cant take ranked serious.

I'm also under the impression that fully charged moves don't always stagger online either, but of course that could be just me being retarded again.

Ok... I hate to do this but... here it goes:
I'm sad to say that I am going to have to put VF5 away for a long time if I want to accomplish greater things. In one week's time, I will put away my VF5 disc and maybe even my 360 and PS3.
This week and this weekend will be the last time I will play VF for a long time.

I've tried to do VF and work on other areas of my life like physical (gym) spiritual (church) and educational (school) all at once but VF ends up trumping over all other areas that I want to improve on.

I had been thinking of taking a step back for a while but it wasn't until I read something that I realized that this had to happen very soon.
I had been looking for ways to improve my game when somebody shared with me Sirlin's web site with the book he wrote about winning. In it I read this:
"Before we go on, ask yourself if you really want to win. Most people answer that they do, but they fail to consider that winning takes more than wanting. It takes commitment, extended effort, discipline, and time. It is not for everyone, nor should it be. There are a great many things to be in life other than a champion at competitive games. If your interest lies in other places, I suggest you not continue with this book as it will only upset you. Think carefully if you only say in passing that you want to win, or if you deeply desire to and are prepared to make the sacrifices required. Being a fine chef, a good mother, a doctor, a political activist, or a musician are all noble pursuits that may, due to your finite time and effort, prevent you from focusing on something as trivial as winning games. I am not advising you to play to win, but I am here for you if you do."

While I may not agree with everything that Sirlin says, this stayed with me for about 2-3 weeks and it was eating away at me cuz deep down, I knew that he was right.

I won't get into what everything that I'm going to improve and work on just so that I don't sound braggadocios but just know that it's a good thing and I will always remember you guys and come back and visit once in a while.
Once I get myself better situated and have a better time-management regiment I will be back. I love VF and the VF community and I've made some really good friends here. I'm not gone forever but I got a lot of work to do before I can come back. Sticking around VFDC without playing VF would just be torture for me so after this week, you will see me less and less on VFDC.
Peace, see you guys online this week and all of this weekend.

Boo! Thats one helluva tough decision to make man. Hope you can get some good shit done with your life.

If you ever feel like trying to balance VF and all that other shit, just try to lower your expectations in VF. I don't play to become the best really, I don't have time to. I just play online when I can and make sure to attend the big tournies (the only reason I play fighting games really) Gatherings are the shit, hope you still have plans to make some of the upcoming ones.

    Good luck with everything dude.

It's rare I play to win so I have no clue what Tony's talking about.

It's all fun to me and i'm still learning, occasionally when playing against a decent opponent i'll get fed up of losing and be like "Gotta win one, pleasey!"... but it's not often.

Yeah, I don't play to be the best either. I'd always rather play people than study VF. So Tony, stick around, bro! We can be Team NooB! You don't have be Mr. box step-ETTEG at every -6 or greater...

Just play and do some shoo shoo every now and then...

    Tony,

Good luck with school, physique, church, and life in general. I understand where you are coming from (tho i defy you not to check in on vfdc too much, gl with that).

VF is a great joy in life, but can be an amazing drain on time, among other things--but mostly time in its myriad forms: leisure, work, sleep, family, quality, etc.....

For me VF creeps into every facet of time if i'm not careful, and hell even if i am careful. It is my go to leisure activity and has brought me 100s of hours of fun, pure and honest.

It becomes work and i feel guilty for neglecting, most of us cannot accept not being our best (i can accept not being THE BEST, altho it pains me, but i cannot accept not being MY BEST.)

Sleep, I know for my bro and I, and surely countless others, when your limited time runs out, sleep is often the lamb for sacrifice. How many nights have I widdled away hours better allocated to sleep (a necessary function for the human body) in favor of a little more VF? Weeks where i'm lucky to get 4-5 a night. Granted, i would gladly sacrifice work hours over sleep hours, but sadly i am an adult, and this is not allowed, so sleep is usually the odd-man-out.

Family the same. Many here took vf vacations instead of seeing family-i didn't make the trip and luckily had family within hours of my home. But I could surely call my grandma and give her an hour a week instead of hitting vf for a couple hours each night. But i dont.

And after a certain point most of us play VF past the point of quality time. Logging hours that make us more upset that happy, more frustrated than satisfied. In life there is diminishing rates of return on utility. The first 2 pieces of pizza taste delicious, the next three are good, the next one a mistake, and piece number 20-50 would be pure torture. This is an exaggeration, but the same holds true. Most of us on here have been known to play past the point of satisfaction, past the point of saturation, at least on occasion, spending hours here where they would be better spent on overall health, and overall quality of life.

Sadly, few of us will look back on 30 years and say, "I wish i spent more time playing vf, and reading vfdc," most of us will probably look at "young us" with contempt, and say "what a damn fool was I! I should have published my book, wrote a score more, I should have had children, spent my youth/mid-youth out living life, instead of sitting in front of a TV trying to make stupid characters do stupid tricks. How I have wasted the prime years of my life."

VF is an amazing tool to vent the obsessive tendencies, but it can become a crutch as well. Anytime anyone of us needs half an excuse to procrastinate, ill bet i know where they go...except when you are treating vf like work and thus procrastination means avoiding playing vf /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif and often times even then, they procrastinate in ranked or player, when they "should be" working on some aspect of thier game.

By all means Tony, go chase other pursuits, until they have worn you dry, and your returns are diminishing on investing yourself there, then come back and beast up like never before. If you are going to operate on a time debt-and we all do in the US, then make it good debt not bad debt. The time you give to school, to family, to church, to the important abstract treasures in life, is all time well spent. The time you while away on video games while contradicting your heart, is time forfeited.

p.s. My lei is better than your brad /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Do whatcha gotta do, Tony! I quit games for 10 years from 97-2007 and I'm glad I did it. It gave me the time to accomplish things like learn japanese and CGI. If I hadn't taken that time to dedicate towards other things, I wouldn't have been as far along as I am now in accomplishing my goals.

I guess its worth noting in here that i am more or less retired from being retired. I'm always on vfdc again, i've started posting too much, and have been dabbling in wasting time with VF again, even making the rare online appearance. I'm not trying to be intense like i was, but it'll probably snowball that way until i retire again.
