The only problem being, they're chicks.

I hear you, and I'm not saying you're wrong; the rules are you tap or the level pain goes up and up until you do. It's just an unfortunate situation when you have people who won't tap and the only thing you can really do is severely injure them, quite possibly permanently.

However, it is important to point out that you cannot win, if you can even continue, after having your arm literally snapped backwards, I see no good reason why the ref shouldn't be able to end the fight before that inevitably fight-ending injury takes place. If you're in a submission hold, and it becomes clear you will not be escaping before being badly hurt - basically meaning there is no doubt severe injury is impending if the ref does not immediately stop the fight - why should the fight be allowed to continue? In this kind of situation, the outcome is already certain; the only difference is going to be broken bones and torn ligaments.

There's no point in letting the injury take place when, for all intents and purposes, the fight has already been decided.

No. Just no man. This will lead to ONLY premature stoppages. Not every ref is very good at BJJ. And even more so, the ref is NOT THERE and isn't the one in the actual submission.

The fighters can make a much better judgement on whether a submission is something to tap to. Unlike TKOs where they are too busy blocking or attempting to block to tap, its fairly easy to demonstrate a tap in a submission. The ref should never be given the power to basically say "Hey fighter, I know more than you. More than you who have been training BJJ excessively and are ACTUALLY IN the situation."

I have one very simple gif that will show why this is a poor idea

How many refs would be capable to decide in the heat of the match that this armbar isn't really having effect?

Grown ass adult rule. It is a fight. It is the fighters decision if they want to push the limit.

Another great season of TUF is underway.

Faber gets caught off-guard during the fight pick for Episode 3. I did NOT see that coming. I haven't had such an "oh SHIT!" moment in a long time.

@Blacklack, that vid was funny. A lot of the promo vids for that fight, even the vids made by the UFC, have been really good lately. It used to be that the only guy on youtube making good promo vids was NickTheFace but seems like others are stepping up their promo vid game.

@Shadowdean, I'm pretty sure that GSP is going to beat Condit and if he does I'm 110% certain that he's going to call out Nick Diaz right after the fight.
I like Nick but I think that depending on GSP's performance that night he may not come out of "retirement".

This kid has good movement and some of the fastest kicks I've ever seen in MMA. He feels himself a bit too much for my tastes but he's young and hasn't been humbled yet. Still, for a guy who's in his MMA infancy, he's got a lot of potential:
