Is BJ back...or is hughes long gone!!! haha. I'm glad bj dominated him. If hughes wins that fight the UFC is just down one dynamic fighter.

As far the Machida vs Jackson fight. I was pulling for machida hard and perhaps it influenced my opinion. But. I thought machida won the 1st round. However, it was close and i knew it coulda went either way. I thought jackson won the 2nd round decisively and unimpressively. And the 3rd round was awesome, intense--dominated by machida, but jackson had chances and was dangerous.

So i was okay with the decision. Didn't agree, but the 1st round was so close if someone says they thought Rampage won, i can't fault them.

Machida, IMO, did 2 things that lost the fight for himself. #1. He didn't work enough in the clinches. If he would have simply been busy in the clinch in round 1 i think u have to give it to him. Rampage was busy in the clinch, did virtually no damage at all in them. But the fact he is throwing pointless knees and body punches vs machida just standing there...it's 30-40 second chunks of only rampage doing anything. It adds up. #2. He lost the title to Rua. Machida's style is built for 5 rounds. The movement, the running, the slow methodical attacking. It's a style that is going to play out stronger in 5 rounds. It's a style that is very susceptible to losing 2 out of 3 rounds by decision, as he is rarely the aggressor.

I don' think there is any denying, if that fight we watched is viewed as a whole that machida "whupped his ass" to loosely quote rampage. But. When u break it down to 3 five minute rounds, Rampage arguably won 2 out of 3 of those rounds. I'm glad it finished with bang, to keep it from being just another bad main event.

 

Rampage was just as surprised to win the split-decision as everyone else.

 

I thought Rampage had lost too but I just went back and watched it again and there was no way I could give either round 1 or 2 to Machida. I'm not biased towards any fighter in the sense that I thought, just like most people watching, that Rampage lost that fight. But after closely watching rounds 1 and 2 I can say that Rampage undoubtedly won that fight. Unlike his fight against Ninja Rua where he got a decision win but he had clearly lost that fight. Rampage even tried to give Ninja the trophy after they gave it to him.

I was never a Nam "fan" after seeing his, I thought, very slow striking and unimpressive first two fights so I was pushing for Michael Johnson to win and was happy to see it in the semi-finals. Brookins will devastate him in the finals though.

Nam is awesome for hunting the body though. I wish more fighters would do that.

in an interview with Nam he clears up something that looks just awful (Nam training all by himself) in the show and reveals a bit of dickery that went untelevised.

Idk if Brookins will devastate Johnson but he is def the best out of all those guys.
I'm expecting big things from that dude. Can't wait to see an improved Brookins versus Aldo rematch.
