    Breaking news:

REALLY looking forward to GSP whooping Koscheck's ass again. I got mad hate for Kockcheck.
Here's Dana White talking about how even he doesn't like Kockcheck

I think that if there was an MMA Douchebag Award, Koscheck would win it

Idk dude, if he didn't keep his hands by his waist he could prob block a few of those punches instead of catching them with his head. At least get some head movement going.
Plus the whole waving his arms up in the air like a damn chimpanzee is really bad too.

Here is the thing, you can't compare mma striking to boxing or thai boxing. It is just not the same with the different variables.

If that's the case, why does Kimbo think he'll do any better in the world of boxing?

So, let me get this sraight... Nate Diaz is doing it right? Blocking punches with his head is the way to go? He really shouldn't work on his defense at all? I don't think you believe that Nate Diaz' defense and striking are just fine the way they are.

I never compared boxing, muay thai, kickboxing, whatever to mma striking. There's no need to point out the obvious as far as mma striking in comparison to other martial arts. Why? What was the point of that?
Look, there are other good mma fighters who apply better defense, better head movement and better striking than Nate and Nick. The Diaz brothers are good but it's not like they have the best approach to offense and defense in MMA.

It's not that hard to see that both Nate's offense and defense can use some work.

the little guy makes it harder to get to these types of events but I'm definitely working on it! [IMG]

Also, both Diaz brothers have rocks in their heads. when they get hit that's when you see the hands go up in the air and the "come on" approach. and yes, that will catch up with them.

Personally, I hope they never work on it. [IMG]

Well obviously MMA striking is adapted to deal with takedowns and the like but there is still no reason these fighters cant learn to keep there hands up(very basic) incorporate better head movement and learn how to throw an effective punch rather then a looping, pawing hook.

Pat Barry is a good striker in the UFC who hasnt compromised his defence or technique. Cant wait to see him fight again.

Absolutely...but here is the thing y'all - eventually you punch with angles and volumes or more defensively and straight forward. You can still power punch, but due to the way people block coupled with the bodies of the Diaz brothers, their style works for them. Their defense is the pitter patter attacks mixed in with power shots.
Kimbo - who knows. He was not that great of a boxer..just tough...but he is dedicated to training.
I personally like how Edgar fights, using foot work and angles, mixing in looping shots and straight attacks.

that about sums up the bj penn fight rofl.

also, ya diaz could work a little on his form, his punches really lack power and his defense is a bit bad too. If it wasn't for his giant reach he probably woulda lost in the stand up for that fight.
his main strength is his bjj though, thats what he probably trains the most and when he fights a better opponent thats what he relies on.

Despite their sloppy striking, I still am a big fan of the diaz brothers. A better mix of flat out theatrics and showboating(the stuff they pull on people is straight up funny) with the skills to back it up(mostly) does not exist in the sport today.

    I love anderson silva..
to bad hes injured for awhile [IMG].

My fav is damian maia though. His BJJ is so sick (And I do bjj so I'm a fan of it). I feel like he had the closest match with silva that I've seen. He was actually bossing him around the last few rounds. If silva ever leaves Maia will prob take the belt. After he lost to silva you could tell he he was very hungry and its said he wants to improve his striking now too, which if he does he will just be hella lethal.

"Josh is very predictable. It [TUF 12] went exactly like i thought it was going to. I can't control how Josh behaves. I just stay myself. He tried to get in my head, which is a good thing for me. Look at all the guys who I fought who was arrogant and disrespectful to me. I beat them all. It's good for my motivation. I hope he keeps it up ... He [Josh] lies a lot. He says he's happy fighting in Montreal, of course he's not. He says I'm fake. There is nothing fake about me. And he says I won't fight him standing. He is the one who is going to try to take me down. He's the one who doesn't know what I'm going to do to him." - GSP
