I wonder how Shad will fare against Shogun.

Wrestling has always been a small problem for Shogun. One thing though, Rashad won't have such a speed advantage over Shogun. Rashad had trouble dealing with someone as fast/faster then him in Machida.

Outside of a great last round, I just don't feel the fight lived up to the hype. Perhaps without all the pre-fight shenanigans, I would feel a bit differently about it, but I was looking for something heavier on passion.

Melvin's knee to the body must be the ko of the century. That shit made me cringe.

agree. Having experienced both, I can say that a body KO is naassssty.

I have never been knocked unconscious, but after the very first time I got knocked down with a body shot, I much rather would have been knocked out cold. That shit just sucks ass.

Why does Chuck Liddel continue to fight?! His past fights is just strings of loss after loss, he needs to stop for his own good or else he might really get hurt.

What do people think, should he retire or not?

I think we will be seeing a very dangerous Liddell this fight! Hes still got plenty to give yet!

What I want to see: Chuck come in almost pre-ufc. Wrestling his ass off and mixing in strikes.
What we will see - the Wrestling curse - wrestlers who discover they can punch very hard, so they abandon their roots.

LAS VEGAS – It seems boxing champ Floyd Mayweather isn't the only fighter who believes Olympic-style drug testing should be more prevalent in combat sports.

At Monday's "The Ultimate Fighter 12" media day at the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas, opposing coaches Georges St-Pierre (20-2 MMA, 14-2 UFC) and Josh Koscheck (15-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) both said they think a more stringent program should be in place for their December bout.

St-Pierre said he believes cheaters need to be caught now before performance-enhancing drugs ruin the sport, while Koscheck said from what he's heard, the champ might need to look in the mirror.

"From what I've heard from other fighters in other camps, yeah, [St-Pierre] has done steroids and HGH, possibly," Koscheck told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I don't know. This is just on hearsay information that I've gotten.

"B.J. Penn and his camp gave me a little phone call. They were saying, 'Yeah, he's on steroids. He's this; he's that.' I said, 'Yeah, there's a possibility.' The guy is pretty ripped all year round."

Koscheck made it clear that he was not making a direct accusation of impropriety from the UFC's welterweight champ but rather just passing on what he had heard from other sources. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old believes he and St-Pierre should both submit to blood testing throughout their camp.

"I would love to do it; why not?" Koscheck asked. "I think Olympic-style testing would be great for our sport. At least you do it a couple times out from the fight.

"I think it will be a great idea."

Olympic-style drug testing is considered superior to the typical urine-based tests used by athletic commissions around the country because by taking blood, the test is able to identify a greater range of performance-enhancing drugs, including Human Growth Hormone (HGH).

The process gained notoriety in combat sports circles in late 2009 when Mayweather and fellow superstar boxer Manny Pacquiao scrapped a potential contest after being unable to reach an agreement regarding drug testing procedures.

When asked his opinion on the matter, St-Pierre said not only would he be approve Olympic-style testing, he believes the entire sport should embrace the process.

"I have no problem; any time he wants," St-Pierre said. "I stand for that more than anybody else. I stand for this, and I just hope it's going to happen soon. I know a lot of people cheat in this sport, and it's unacceptable.

"I'm for random drug testing. There's nobody in the UFC that agrees more with random testing then me. ... Anything they want, I don't care. I give my body to science."

St-Pierre said he wasn't necessarily surprised that he was the target of such discussion, but he adamantly denies that he's ever used performance-enhancing substances.

"I'm not a coward," St-Pierre said. "Anyone that uses steroids is a cheater. I don't need to cheat to win. I am like I am, and I'm somebody that is not a coward.

"I'm not afraid of Josh Koscheck, and I don't need to cheat to beat him. I'm going to beat him by the book and using the right way."

While St-Pierre said his muscle gain has come through hard work and an increased focus on a proper diet, he believes there are some fighters who aren't as committed to going by the book. The Canadian superstar said he believes that Olympic-style testing could help to reveal some of those athletes that have gained success with the help of chemicals.

"I just hope that it's going to happen and happen soon," St-Pierre said. "I want it to happen. I don't know who uses [performance-enhancing drugs]. I have no idea, and I'm not going to say any names, but I want it to happen soon. What's happening now, it's going to be bad. It's going to be like a certain other sport. I don't want to say the name of the sport, but it's not going to be the best fighter that wins the fight.

"Now, what makes a good fighter is a lot of genetics, the style, the skills, the heart. Now there is another factor that influences the fight: the team of doctors behind the fighter. This should not be an element that helps a fighter to win a fight. That's something I am against. It's not everybody that stands for that, and I don't. I think everybody should be testing like the Olympic Games."

While the UFC has yet to determine where the December matchup between St-Pierre and Koscheck will take place, it will ultimately be up to the governing commission to determine what steps are taken to ensure a level-playing field. Both fighters say they're willing to submit to increased regulations, though Koscheck believes he's destined to win regardless of St-Pierre's tactics.

"I plan on making Georges stand toe-to-toe with me," Koscheck said. "This isn't going to be a wrestling match. I'm going to force him to stand-up with me because I believe he doesn't have knockout power. We've just got to pray to God that he doesn't grease up, and he gets off that juice so that we can equal things about it.

"I just want to let him know that if he's going to do that, it doesn't matter. I'm still going to beat you because it can't make the chin that much stronger. His chin's still weak."

I don't know why nobody has come up with an MMA version of NBA Jam. Put some explosions, power slams, super punches and knees, the works! It would sell like hot cakes... back when hot cakes apparently sold well.

If the UFC is sanctioned in Ontario, the first event could be in March, 2011.

Coming off their third successful show in Montreal, and with a sold out fourth show next month set for Vancouver, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has made tentative plans to hold their biggest show to date, at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Numerous sources have informed me that the organization has reserved Saturday March 26th, 2011 as their first foray into the province of Ontario. This will also mark the UFC's first event to be held inside a stadium.

The Rogers Centre, with it's retractable roof, can seat over 46,000 fans for baseball and football, but when floor seats are added, the number dramatically increases to over 65,000. The current record for paid attendance is 68,237, set by Wrestlemania X8, on March 17th, 2002.

While UFC President Dana White has often stated he wants fans to enjoy the live UFC experience, and does not want them to experience bouts that look like "two ants on top of a matchbox", it's going to be tough for him not to try and break the WWE's record. He is far too ambitious and competitive to not try and leave his mark on Rogers Centre history.

The UFC's current attendance record is 21,390, set by UFC 83: Serra vs St-Pierre 2. To break the Rogers Centre record would mean they would have to more than triple their existing best that was set at their first show in Montreal. I have often joked with White that in order to do so, he should consider having five title fights on the card; of course, you can imagine what his responses have been.

But I also suggested another option for him to consider.

Two weeks ago, in the bowels of the Bell Centre, I sat with White and suggested the UFC consider amalgamating all weight classes with the WEC. Take the champions from the WEC, and the top contenders, and move them over to the UFC, while taking those who are on the verge of being cut, and send them down to the WEC. This would create a true farm system for up and coming fighters to develop under, while competing against those who have proven their worth, but their stock may be fading.

His response was a positive one, but I believe it would take a lot of work (TV deals aside) to complete such a venture, mind you, one of his favourite quotes has always been "some things take time to get done."

Of course, one key match-up that many believe can break the exhisting record, is the long rumoured super fight between UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva and Welterweight Champion, Georges "Rush" St-Pierre. While many hold their breath for this fight to finally take place, both pound-for-pound greats have other fighters to worry about first. For Silva, it's Chael Sonnen on August 7th. For GSP, it's Josh Koscheck, once both fighters are done their coaching stints on season twelve of The Ultimate Fighter.

While the rumoured March 26, 2011 date is only a tentative one, perhaps it was reserved with some internal confidence that their lobbying efforts to sanction Mixed Martial Arts in the province of Ontario are moving ahead as planned, with success just around the corner.

The sport is currently not sanctioned in the province, and as the company continues to speak with federal leaders, in hopes to make changes to Section 83 of Canada's Criminal Code, the other issue is Ontario's Athletics Control Act.

If changes can be made to the definition of "professional contest and exhibition", whereby to include MMA as a sport ,along with the adoption of the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, then it's safe to say, shortly thereafter, the Octagon will rest on the same surface as the one used by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The UFC is set to make their "major announcement" on Tuesday, one that I believe will focus on the companies plans to open a corporate office in Ontario, likely in the city of Toronto, but I would not be surprised if many more topics will be addressed by White and majority owner Lorenzo Fertitta, as the curiosity of the MMA media and Canadian fan base has reached an all time high.

To help the UFC in their plight to sanction the sport in Ontario, "MMA DAY", a fan friendly rally for all ages, is being put on by independent organizers, on Saturday May 22nd, at Queen's Park in Toronto, the very front yard of the Provincial Legislature. Yours truly will be in attendance, alongside many UFC veterans and players within the Ontario MMA industry.

jk, but i don't really like this list. I think chuck was dramatically over rated. Name the elite fighters he fought. I have, couture (i guess he's elite), Rua, Rampage, Rashad, Franklin (i guess he's elite), wanderlei, jardine (not quite elite). He did not do good against this line up. But it's hard to say where he was in his career, but i wonder if maybe he was never as good as we thought.

But i don't suppose any list is w/out argument, and i know peeps won't like mine, but here it is.

    1. Johnny Jones (wait and see, i bet ya!!!!)
    2. Anderson Silva
    3. Machida (although Rua can beat him, i think he's better vs other LHW's)
    4. Rua
    5. Rashad Evans (i feel right now you have to give it to him, but no necessarily a strong pick).

i will say this. Chuck could be anyone in the world during his prime. He always had a punchers chance. And he had a fantastic sprawl, so he had a really really good punchers chance vs anyone better than him.

not sure how many people were following TUF or watched the season finale but the whole time I was watching the Jardine/Hamill fight I was thinking "what the HELL is that on his back?". I've have never been a Hamill fan and this just cemented my disdain for him. I'm not sure who the larger asshat is in this case, Hamill or the Athletic Commission that cleared him.

hopefully Jon Jones can come in and destroy him again (this time not using the earth breaking illegal elbows).

asshole fights with a staph infection, other assholes say, "okay"
