Shogun's style is the main problem. It is tailored for Machida.

What a fucking disaster. UFC is entertainment. Entertainment that I and others use as an escape to soften the effects of corruption throughout the world. Fuck that now. Money is behind everything.

Obviously the only reason Machida won was because he's undefeated and that will showcase better against a mega match against Anderson Silva if that ever happens, the judges were payed handsomely to see to that.

Just my theory though not saying it's necessarily true.

Looks like they're gonna set up a rematch as quick as possible. If they do, I hope Rua can press the advantage he appeared to have.

I love Machida, but it's nice to know some good old fashioned Muay Thai and a lot of strategy can still be viable against his style.

Man, I think I need to reconsider who I pick to be winners. I think I got 2 people right!!
On bad decisions: First and foremost Machida got handed Christmas early. That was almost as bad as when Mike Easton got handed a win over Chase Bebe. I am a HUGE Machida fan, but there is no way you can justify that decision. There needs to be a great cleansing of the referees in mma and have some sort of standard established. Hell, it almost makes me want the ufc 20-60 refs who basically thought if you were on top you were winning. At least that was consistent.

Big Ben Rothwell. Ok, you know, he was getting pummled, but he was stopped WHILE he was getting up. Mazigattie made a shit decision there as well.

On other thoughts: Okami I think may have just been exposed. If he can't muscle you and dictate the fight from the onset, he has very little else to threaten with.

Chael Sonnan - needs tighter inside combination if he wants a prayer against Anderson.

Ryan Bader vs Eric Shafer - God damn, if anybody won in defeat, it is Shafer. I expected Bader to just blow him out the water. His jits is great, all he needs is a bit more oompf in his strikes and more get-to-it with his hips and dude is gunna be a major threat. Bader on the other hand I think is gunna run into submissions he can't yank himself out of.

Machida seemed 100% focused on striking, IF somehow things go wrong I think he should at least threaten with take downs at least to mix it up, shogun had both options to play with and knew he'd only have to worry about the stand-up.
Look forward to the rematch [IMG]

Machida vs Shogun in VF terms...

    Machidas main tools-
    1. Backdash eteg after a safe poke or when feels threatened.
    2. K+G

    Shoguns counter strategy-
    1. Force the backdash and wait for ETEG. Machida wont ETEG down bacause hes afraid of Shoguns left hand that knocked out chuck. Shogun feels with high probability Machida will ETEG up. Shougn used a half circular/circular K+G once the ETEG animation starts.

    2. Knowing that Machidas K+G is -15 on gaurd. Shogun gets guaranteed damage with K every time he guards Machida's K+G.

When the cheers of the crowd changed from Machida to Shogun, I knew I was watching a special fight. When round five closed with Shogun throwing up his hands in victory, you could see the defeat on Machida's face. When I heard that it was a unanimous decision, I thought we had seen the end of the Machida era. When the fight went to Machida, I lost all respect for the UFC...
