"I think the UFC wants a champion that Chuck Liddell can beat, so he can win the belt again.. he is an ex-champion, sells more and has more marketing"

It's not the UFC's judges. It's the NSAC's. Dana hasn't got control of them. And to say that Rampage isn't marketable is borderline is questionable to say the least. Chuck is, imo, pretty much done. Do you think they'll place who they want on top and then protect him until the end of time cause of him being marketable? You need to win fights / stay on top. Forrest next won't be a walk in the park, the LHW division is STACKED.

"I'm not even talking as a fan here. I looked at that fight numerous times myself trying to figure out how Forrest won unanimously. He backpeddled and got punched in the face more than twice as many times as he caught Quinton with leg kicks."

At the end of the fight one guy walked out of the cage and another limped out. What you think about "backpeddling" and so on being on forrest part I do not. Fyi here's the real criteria for octagoncontrol:

    --------------

    J. Octagon Control
    1. The fighter who is dictating the pace, place and position of the fight.
    2. A striker who fends off a grappler's takedown attempt to remain standing and effectively strike is octagon control.
    3. A grappler who can takedown an effective standing striker to ground fight is octagon control.
    4. The fighter on the ground who creates submission, mount or clean striking opportunities

    ------------------------------------------------

Do you think Page dictated the pace, place and position of the fight? If so you are pretty much a blind fan sorry m8 cause he didn't.

What pisses Ibarra is how the first round was scored and it was indeed very weirdly scored with the dropping and so on (which I guess they didn't put much value in).

Same here. I have great respect for his skill but he is simply not an exciting fighter to watch for most of the fight since he picks his shots really carefully. Either way , I have alot of respect for him after that statement.

...um...did you watch TUF? Dana admitted that he owns Las Vegas and I would assume that by extension everything surrounding it including the NSAC judges. Seriously. Don't step out of line or Dana will getcha!

Personally I think the Fight was narrowly won by Forrest. The judging seems bad to me based on the returned scores but not conspiracy bad. I don't think Forrest has the full skill set to maintain that belt though. he could always get better but I look forward to a rematch of Jackson and Griffin with a Rampage I remember from Pride.

    wooooooooo, indeed.

Chuck's always been in shape, having a six pack does not = in shape just means you worked on your abs and have low body fat % which is not too healthy at times to maintain.

That fight was really close to call,so end of the day you have to give it to the judges to make their decision, fighters who don't like it should aim to not finish with a decision, easier said than done I know but that's the reality when a fight is that close.
Pride round times would maybe have changed the dynamic of this fight and maybe the outcome and scoring. 10 min first round, who knows what would have happened with longer rounds.
Is 5 mins a good format for mma to be judged on?
Maybe too much occurs and we need longer rounds to score the overall fight (like pride) instead of round by round scoring which is a boxing system.
There's recently been a review that looked at weight divisions and elbowing rules why not question the actual format of round times and the judging system? This seems to be a recurring issue and most likely to come up again and again. The sport is still young so things like this are usual as it grows

the idea that ufc wanted to influene a forrest win and that partly why it was scored that way, imo, is pure insanity. I don't believe dana would EVER do this, EVER. Why u ask? Look no further than boxing. UFC's rapid rise to the top would be obliterated if it was found this was the case, and marketing wise chuck being maybe champion again maybe vs possibly ruining the credability of ur entire franchise...spesks for itself. i didnt see the fight. Maybe it was judged poorly. Maybe they found 3 judges who love leg kicks, and r more impressed by someone who can eat a punch better than thow one. But to think ufc influenced the outcome---i'm not buying that even with my neighbors money. that's just my 2 cents

Listen, Forrest just did more damage throughout the course of the fight. Outside of being taken down 2 times, partially slammed and knocked silly...well, yeah - he still did more damage to Quinton. Forrest gets out of bed looking like he got violated by a large animal...let alone after eating a few punches. The scoring problem is giving forest round 1 and then round 4. That was retarded.
Anderson Silva and Machida have said that they will not fight each other. They are both teammates and train together and consider themselves friends...however, I think at some point they will have to contend for the belt - at least if Machida plans on wearing a belt anytime soon.

Here is the problem with Ibarra is a boxing guy who has been great for Rampage in that respect - but I think Quinton is going to need a stronger team to regain and maintain the belt. Personally, I would love to see him training with team quest or possibly AKA.

    VS

    THE LAST EMPEROR
    [IMG]

So is Affliction starting their own organization? Or have they always had one? Or is this a one time promotional deal?

In any case, I can't wait for the fight Saturday. Fedor vs Sylvia...I have no doubt in my mind that Fedor will win this fight. He'll be taking it to the ground because he obviously doesn't want to stand with Sylvia. I'll go out on a limb here and say Fedor wins with a submission near the end of the first.

Only thing I'm really worried about is that Fedor bleeds easily and elbows are allowed. Sylvia isn't exactly known for elbows, but if he's smart, he's been practicing. lol

Lol, "admitted" he owns Las Vegas > assumption. Cause he said this is my town? Haha, yeah that's hard proof right there that he told the judges to throw the fight =)
I bet he manipulates boxingresults also and his entire new house is built on an empire of shady bookers and maffia taking his bets. People; NSAC judges boxing etc also and wrestling.

There are certain judges who always fuck up and are hated like Cecil B Peoples etc, if Dana had any control over judges results in general would be a whole lot different then they are. Hell he was even pissed on judges in TUF, he's not happy with them in general. Hope the big camp with big John changes stuff / gives more knowledge to them overall. The fight wasn't fixed. Call the judges dumb of whatever but don't think Dana is behind everything that happens. I got to respect Forrest still with his attitude and what he says after the fight. "If you look at the other divisions you have bj penn and anderson silva etc, they are scary guys. I'm not a scary guy. But I'll fight 25 minutes with anybody. You need to fight me 25min and win cause I won't quit. I'm like a dog, you need to fight me 25min and I won't stop.". And that pretty much summs it up. Forrest is a testament to what heart and dedication can do and it can do a lot. I don't think anybody thinks he's extremly skilled; he even says himself he has no knockout power and he means it.

Can't wait for affliction. Feel poor for Fedor though. He doesn't only need to win he needs to STEAMROLL Sylvia otherwise he's overrated. And that's not a guy you steamroll. Secondly, his dominance will be put into perspective of Coutures fight with Timmy. I feel there's no way Fedor can not be seen as overrated after this weekend cause of all of this.

I don't care what anybody says, I've been watching Fedor since Pride and I gotta say it: he is the best fighter in MMA right now. Period. I know the Fedor haters keep saying that he's overrated but no, that boy good.

I think Andre Arlovski's stock went up after the movie 300 came out XD I still remember his fight vs Cabbage /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

Nice job of predicting the outcome, FatalRose /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif

I almost called it. I said late in the first. Who would have thought it would have ended so quickly?

...Well, this is Fedor after all. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Jesus fucking Christ!!! WAR FEDOR! He is unquestionable the best in the world without a doubt, fuck the UFC fanboys, he has nothing to prove not even Randy is in the level of Fedor but he deserves a shot cause he is such a legend as well, but Fedor is Fedor, the cyborg, the russian experiment, THE LAST EMPEROR.

And please AM2 give us a badass russian Sambo character with a kurtka in the next installment. It's a must period.

No, but I heard someone got poked in the eye like 3-4 times and the judges ruled the last poke a TKO. That must've been gay as fuck.

Edit: I did see Silva's fight though. Wow. Talk about ownage. All the light heavyweights are shaking in their boots right now.
