Over time we can forget how much we know about a game, and yes things are common to the two games but different things are given different levels of importance in both games and they look different sometimes. Like in the SFHD thread people are saying that VF tactics can work in that game too but the problem is that other tactics that are more central to that game are much more effective which overshadow the use of VF like tactics.

So yeah they have similarities but they still are totally different games with different tactics that are effective. You're not going to see someone in a VF match shooting out launchers all day that are safe or picking up their opponent from the ground across half the level into a wall for a wall spat combo. To be clear that shit looks Fn' cool when it's on vid form and yes in VF you can move someone from half the screen using a TFT style move and just use _6P,_6P over and over and might get a ring out or a wall combo but it simply doesn't look at cool as some of the shit tekken characters do to get the same effect.

That game spurts visual orgasms that you don't need to know jack about fighting games to appreciate.

I'm not saying Tekken is basic, I'm just trying to think of a reason why it might be that many people trained and untrained view tekken vids as more entertaining than VF vids are.

I kinda agreed with you. I play Tekken, when I watched VF match video for the 1st time (VF4 evo vid), I saw akira combo and I wasn't really impressed and I thought combo being performed kinda easy to pulled out. After tested it, I just noticed that byakko performed while standing, not in FC position. Lol

so that's true someone can't really know wtf is going on, esp about ETEG and stuff without getting into technical to this game.

But, eyecatchy stuff in VF5 is better, esp in R.

still, major people (including gamers & non-gamers) said VF is kinda weird and not really eyecatchy than tekken.

    Good job Ash!

Gernburg's post made me wonder why I never bought one, I think it was down to the fact that there was no more than 5 decent games for it.

Lol, I never owned a PS1 either. I owned a Saturn, an N64, and a Dreamcast... hell, I even owned a 32x, but I never owned a PS1. I did later break down and buy a PS2, but I modded it to ensure Sony would never actually make any money off me. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Dude!!! PS1 had Tekken 2 and some of the SF Alphas too I think. I can't remember off the top of my head but PS1 had maaaad games. By the end, PS1 had ~8000 games.

japan loves tekken 6, yet the us tekken scene seems to hate it (a lot of them, at least).

i don't really know that much about tekken (cause i hate it and all), but seems to me like there's a large disconnect between what japanese gamers want in a 3d fighter and what american gamers want in a 3d fighter.

though by this logic, vf5r would actually have a chance of becoming popular here.

Didn’t mean to upset any Tekken fans, I use to really enjoy tekken. Tekken 5 wasn’t that bad. But I really hate the direction tekken 6 took. It’s just to wild and crazy for me. I prefer Virtua because it seems a lil more realistic. I esp. hate the fact that Tekken has animals fighting, that shit is just sooo stupid. I saw a video of Bruce and he has laying chickens. Shit like that is just stupid to me.

My feelings towards the original Tekken 6 and Bloodline Rebellion is mixed. The fighters on the original and remake are cool, and the graphics appear fantastic. However, the fact fighters can knock their opponent to the next kind of bothers me since the series should just stick to the open and wall stages. The special items to attack with is ridiculous, such as Bryan fires a shotgun, Armor King uses spiked club, and Miguel smashes a guitar. Though my feelings are bad, that does not mean it will stop me. I will give this game a try if it is worthy for me to play like its predecessors.[/size]

I only pirated PS2 exclusives. Games that were out for the Dreamcast/Gamecube/Xbox I never pirated. However, given the fact the PS2 was pretty much the king of exclusives, I ended up with pirated copies of over 50 games, even though I only pirated games I would've considered buying. And I really did consider buying some of them. Especially Pop'n Music, which is a series that deserves all the support it can get, and of course anything released by Sega. But in the end I just couldn't bear to give any money to Sony. :p However, out of the twelve Xbox games I own, five were published by Sega.

There is nothing wrong with Tekken seriously as I would say all gamers have an acquired taste for certain types of games. I personally prefer SC and VF myself and the last Tekken game I really played a lot was Tekken 2 at the arcade ages ago. I find it to be more about the visuals than then gameplay but that is just my shallow minded opinion. To say a game sucks isn't fair to say since it isn't the shared opinion of the vast majority of all gamers everywhere. It has its strengths and weaknesses just like every game what makes Tekken 6 stand out as a really bad game over all the others ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not justifying or appologizing for anything. I am a pirate and a hacker in my spare time, and I make no appologies for it. I'm just saying I went about things in a way that wouldn't hurt the companies I actually care about. :p

Lol, well, why do you think I didn't get into any specifics? Especially about the hacking part... Seriously though, piracy != theft. If it did I might actually feel bad about what I did. And looking at the giant stacks of legitimately purchased games on the shelfs in my room does help with the guilt. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
