I hit all the buttons and then 30 seconds later my combo finishes. Does this mean that now when you hit someone it cuts to an FMV of a comet splitting through every planet in the solar system and then smashing your opponent? You could even buffer in defensive techniques during the cutscene in case it misses.

    HAHA ... that's incredibly funny!!!

But on a serious note... I do agree that Tekken designs are a lot more interesting and fun to look at than VF designs. I was a fan of tag but I never got into it like I did VF. Partially it's because I enjoyed VF once I played it more, and perhaps the community helped as well.

That's an interesting point, what agios_katastrof said about Korean gamers... Look at Lineage 2, the characters in that game all look bad ass too ... hehe =)

if you go to www.gamemethod.com and scroll down a little, you'll see this newsbyte on Korean Consumer Whorism... it's incredible, Lineage 2 on Pringles chips!!!

I would like it if SEGA put a TKD player in VF though, it would be very interesting. Both Tekken and VF have a lot to offer, and both of them are good series... just T4 hit a brick wall.

We just have to give Namco time... we'll eventually see what this 'new direction' for Tekken is. Hopefully it'll be a good game =)

RIP Heihachi see you in TTT2. Arcade release in 04 and home release in 05 !! Nothing on the online feature, if there actually is one. Man this is getting me hyped !

    Re: OMG

I'm a long time Tekken fan, but when T4 came out, it was like playing in molasses. I felt like I had gone from Hyper Fighting to Super SF2 all over again. Hopefully they'll make moves flow smoothly again, instead of the 'poke poke - waitwaitwait - poke - waitwaitcrouchdash' that turned me off on T4 even before I experienced the rotten character designs (marduk), massive unbalancing (Hi, I'm Jin, I'll be your Ownzornator this game), and extremely infuriating fighting arenas and wall rules (How the hell did you go from a complete float to a block? What the hell did you grab on that smooth concrete pillar/ on that glass door / in the f'ing AIR above the fence?) T3 was very flashy graphicwise, and had a much better character control interface than T2 did. T4 felt more like T2 than T3 and Tag. I'm not asking for the insanity of 8way run from SC2, but I'd like to have more mobility than a 200 kilo man wearing concrete blocks for geta.

And even though I'd miss Kazuya, I'd love a new set of characters. I stopped playing Street Fighter because I got tired of seeing Ryu and Ken in every game, because they were usually overpowered. They started that kind of imbalance with Jin in T4, and hopefully it will end there as well. Here, I'll even write the storylines out to eliminate the characters right now. They're not any worse than Ling Xiaoyu entering a tournament so she can build her ..... amusement park.....

Nina can have an aneurism related to her cryosleep right before the tournament - the resulting stroke eliminates her from the tournament because she suddenly has no idea how to open her dressing room door.

Yoshimitsu tries to save money by not using Duracell batteries and runs out of juice in the corner.

Julia and Michelle are 'accidentally' caught in a flash flood near a Mishima operated dam (in the middle of North America).

Jin and Steve can be disqualified for fighting over the last set of silk workout pants in the dressing room, before the matchup lots were even drawn.

Hwoarang, upon seeing the tournament officials throw Jin out of the tournament, panics when he realizes he won't be able to get a third shot at Jin and starts a fight with him right in front of the expulsion committee, and gets thrown out as well.

Christie can have just put on 80 pounds during her singing career since the last tournament ala Anne Nicole Smith and be unable to lift her leg above her waist, much less perform a full cappoeira repetoire.

Kuma was put into a zoo by the authorities after seeing Heihachi beating on the poor old guy - the tournament scouts who attempted to get him released to fight in the tournament are jailed for attempted animal abuse and bribery of zoo officials.

Craig Marduk didn't even reply to the invitation - he crawled back home in embarrassment at being the first person in any Iron Fist tournament to never land an attack on any opponent.

Paul loses a leg in a motorcycle accident in Japan while driving on the wrong side of the street two days before the current tournament.

Kazuya and Lei conspire to get Heihachi assassinated - they finally realize the old bastard has been playing them (and all the other fighters) for fools for 40 years, and after their joint plan works, they split up the zaibatsu after Heihachi's successful elimination and both go out at age 50 to enjoy the lifestyle they wanted at 25.

Lei slips while sliding to the ground and blows out a knee - the tournament officials refuse to allow him to fight in a cast, since they also refused to allow Paul to use his new pegleg.

Bryan is rebuilt, but Boskonovitch developed Alzheimers during the year of rebuilding and forgets exactly where the extra nuts and bolts were supposed to go - the training wheels are only a temporary balance aid, Bryan.

Ling Xiaoyu is currently pregnant with her fourth child by an abusive husband, and in no shape to enter the tournament.

King is again stricken by alcoholism - he can't bear the thought of the game designers tinkering with his fighting style again, and refuses to sober up for the entire month of the tournament.

There. Now we can have all new characters. The entire cast of Tekken 4 has been rubbed out. Well, Combot can come back - he'll have nobody to copy but new characters.

Please, for the love of god, if they can't give us all new characters, at least they could let Heihachi have a heart attack and the current tournament is Lee and Kazuya duking it out for the Mishima Uberoppressive Antinature Corporation. More people than just Jun and Baek need to die off in this game

Dude, it's Jiu Jutsu. Go look on the internet. If 'Juu' is an acceptable spelling, it sure as hell isn't the one that's most commonly used. And yes, I have taken Jiu Jutsu.

No I saw the bloody kanji. It's Juu jutsu.

    you should know better.

c'mon, you honestly think Heihachi is dead? did you not read the part where they mentioned, "...‘Huge Character Selection’. Assuming Namco sticks to the tradition of 8 to 10 time release characters, who would definitely not be revealed at this point, Tekken 5 could get near the 30 character mark. Huge indeed!" just because he was "killed" in a giant robo-explosion of villainous proportions means nada, his Uranus/Chronos complex will not let him die as long as there are descendants to kill off. and we all know people like him don't die in explosions, they die in dramatic one-on-one battles in flaming castles or pristine waterfalls. if you ask me T5 is gonna stick to the their tradition of N.E.R.D. and you know it; just wait 40 hours or so.

No it's "juu jutsu"!! I've been learning Japanese for 2 and a half years and nobody is gonna tell me which is the right one!!/versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif The "Juu" is a longh vowel and hence double "u".

Anyway back to our T5 topic..

In America and most of the world, it is spelled Ju Jistue buddy. Your spelling it phonetically.

Tekken 5 looks interesting. It seems that I'm one of the few people that liked Tekken 4. I never got into the game and I was never any good at it, but it was decent. I guess at high level play (that I've never seen), it's pretty bad from what I keep hearing.

Anyway, I hope Namco does a better job with Tekken 5. TTT was fun, but to me, the entire Tekken series just didn't appeal to me.

My favorite char in Tekken is Hwoarang. I thought he was the most interesting (type of moves, style) and I still think VF needs a char like him.

    oh wicked!

Graphics look nice. Screenshots show some old faces in somewhat new outfits. I'm disapointed seeing Bryan Fury is still in his old body. Oh well, now I'm gonna browse the net in search of the Trailer. I'll post it up if I find it.

Why thank you. I probably invested more thought there than Namco has in the entire Tekken storyline.

Oh, I forgot Law. Marshall Law can be outside the tourney reading a cuisine magazine when he is killed by Paul's motorcycle flying onto the sidewalk and splatting him against the wall during Paul's accident. Forest Law was unfortunately riding with Paul at the time, and splats against the wall right next to his father. No more Laws.....

Anyway, my hopes are in vain. It looks like everyone from Tekken 4 is in Tekken 5. And the huge character selection thing makes me wonder how many of SNK's programmers Capcom hired - this 30 character selection thing is remniscent of the KoF series. I'd much rather have a smaller selection of characters that the designers worked on balancing than end up with 30 characters and another unbalanced T4Jin-esque character. Or two.

*hops off into the distance while grumbling*
