Tekken 5 confirmed !

That guy aint fat enough to be Ganryu. He looks more like a older Kazuya maybe.

 

holy shite! i think you're right. he does seem to have a scar over one eye and yeah, he's a little too buff to be Ganryu.

 

he looks more like the bizzaro love child of Blade and Simon Phoenix from Demolition Man; doubly weird since they're both Wesley Snipes.

 

That kinda scares me man because Lee is only a year younger than Kazuya so that means he is going to look just as old. Or is he even going to be in the game? I hope so.

 

Man I thought we'd have to wait awhile longer before they would show anything ! The Ganryu looking dude looks more like a new kung fu guy but that's definitly not Kaz. Can't see him without the Mishima hairstyle, and that doesn't look like a karate stance either.

LOL that guy does look like Wesley Snipes ! And the kung fu looking dude kinda reminds me of Lan Di. Maybe a new bad guy ! Wonder if they'll include any of the old school characters ?

Gimmie all new characters!

I'd prefer an all new cast for Tekken 5 actually and that would be the best thing that could happen imo. Specially if they decide to change the gameplay drasticly instead of trying to make the old moves / styles desperatly fit into the new system etc. Then the corny stories need to come to an end; cryolabbing Nina to make her look young and heihachi being 200years old soon etc. I know that the Tekken cast is very popular but I think characterdesign was never a problem for Namco.

Two instant thoughts: Movebuffering leads to broken situations? Does this mean Tekken5 will use a gaurdbutton perhaps?

I think a lot of Tekken players WILL jump to the conclusion that move buffering will break the game. Until now everything you did was much more predictable due to the fact that you had to stop a move before you could start another. That created a more staccatto style of play than most games... At least that's how it seems to me.

IMO, all they are thinking about is the current incarnations of the Tekken characters being able to buffer moves. Certain characters could become Gods, I suppose... I don't play Tekken 4 enough to know who that might be, but I see where they might fear that.

I doubt they'll add a guard button. I think that would ruin the 'Tekken Flavor' and make it feel like another game... one that... You know... we all really like. ^_^

Buffering is nothing but a good thing, at least if we take a look at VF. And no, I don't think there will be a block button.

It's nice seeing Kazama style jiujitsu back in the game. Hope Feng Wei uses monkey style kung fu but I doubt it, he looks more like the hard hitting straight forward type.

 

Namco always does so well w/ char designs... the new chars look damn good.. I love VF, but man, it's a pity in comparison. This is what I meant by the "style" that Koreans care about. From what I've seen, Japanese's sense of style is more about self expression and being unique, but the Korean sense style is all about looking good. And Tekken chars, they look good. And yeah, ultimately, it's the gameplay that matters the most, but anybody that denies that aesthetics don't matter, is really fooling themselves.

I've only played Tekken casually, and only TTT, but damn, I'm looking fwd to this. I didn't even know Tekken didn't have buffering at the moment (shows you how much I know about Tekken). Not sure how you even play a fighter without it.

 

I'm looking forward to T5 myself cept I'm too sure about the new guyz. Raven isn't exactly a original name plus he looks like Zack from DOA. The other 2 look ok. Nothing special to me. I can't wait to see Bryans new body. (not meaning in a perverted way but Tekken ppl know what I mean). Buffering in T5 now, seems interesting now. Anyway, I look forward to next week after E3 is done.

This is the first time in the series they've got buffering? Tekken has a far wider move buffer range than several fighting games in my experience, the 10 hit strings attest to that. It makes me feel like I'm playing Final Fantasy rather than a fighting game, I hit all the buttons and then 30 seconds later my combo finishes. Does this mean that now when you hit someone it cuts to an FMV of a comet splitting through every planet in the solar system and then smashing your opponent? You could even buffer in defensive techniques during the cutscene in case it misses.
