How about the 15th or 21st? I'd be happy to make it up there and hand out some beat downs.

    Two big questions,

OK here is the deal with FT. We can have it here by August 14th if we can get some people to donate some cash this weekend at CTF.

Sal's gonna head up the effort in collecting managing cards etc. and probably donations too (I'll ask him)

FT is gonna cost us $3200 with the card readers

We have $2300 (from sal, adam etc.) of this amount covered we need an additional $900 I am hoping to get from CTF'ers or people who can make it to NYC to play FT.

If each person can donate $50-100 plus additional for how many cards they want. This weekend i'm sure we can get the $900 that we need.

To cover your donation for the first few weeks 1 or 2 days during Monday-Thursday we will set the machine to free play or .25 where you can test/experiment with your cards/characters.

If you can help out, please reply to this thread with how much you can put in and how many cards you want to reserve. You will have to meet up with us this friday or saturday at CTF.

Second big question is if we move the FT setup to Port Authority will that be convenient for people? I'd like to have the exact same or LARGER group playing. Anyone know if ctf'ers can make it to Port Authority just as easily or is it harder?

Ill try to plop down 50 this weekend! Also, Port Authority would be great for me because I live on 143rd st, and getting to CTF is a hassle! Plus theres just more room. Also, the machine might recruit new players just passing through the terminal.

    You have my support! /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Location wise, PA is more ideal, so easy to get to Times Square area I think for everyone./versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif But CF is the better arcade, that is where the true harcore fighting game enthusiast goes to. I'm sure no one has a big problem where the game is at, as long its in prime working conditions at all times, which we've had problems concurrently.

About PA, you sure you can have the setup there? Do you know the arcade operator? I think the management has changed hands about 4 months ago. The cabinet they have right now for VF ver.b is really bad, Sal can confirm this. Plus games are 3 tokens there; you can put a $20 bill for 120 tokens which totals 2 games per dollar, that's what I do. /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Just some feedback. If you have positive remarks to follow this, that's great.

Sine we're talking about alternate locations, Sal and I visited Lazer Park last week, its around the corner of Virgin Times Square. They have an Evo cabinet set for $1 a game but its best of 9 rounds (5 rds to win)! /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Ahh I forgot about the 3 tokens per game, that would suck! If they let you set it to 2 then it would be all good. Streetfighter III and some other games are 2 tokens there. But I guess its really up to the Managment. If it turns out to be a hassle, then CTF is fine by me

    Re: NYC VF

I should be able to meet up this weekend and drop a C-note + maybe 3 cards.

    Random considerations:

    1) PA (or Lazer Park) not the most convenient for me but not a problem since it's closer to work. I'd assume that CTF isn't as convenient for most people though.

    2) I don't play other fighting games but PA might deter some people who want to hit all their games at one place.

    3) Space sounds better in PA and I'd assume Lazer Park, they've got decent space.

    4) I haven't checked out the scene in PA but in CTF no one will jack up the machine (now that Tian has talked to the crazy button masher).

    5) I think the biggest consideration would be cost, if we can get $0.50 games anywhere PA probably makes more sense.

    6) I'm not sure how much of a factor it is but I feel obligated to say that food around CTF is great has a much better bang-for-the-buck (5 dumplings for $1!!!), not sure what PA is like. I'd probably get into the nasty habit of going to a local sports bar for wings and beer between matches.

By the way, is there a way to make it free for those with cards and regular price (or $0.25) for anyone without one? That way those who made donations could get something back but not wreck the VF economy. As much as I like the idea of free, I think we'll end up with a few machine hogs but I could just be misjudging the scene.

Also, if we're trying to get fresh players, I think it would be almost mandatory to get a sign that says along the lines of "New Game, Temporarily Discounted Until _____, Play Me Like a $0.10 Hooker". The hooker part may not be necessary. Having a one or two page laminated basic commands (guarding, throws, evading, pounces, PPPKs, etc) for new players (and for me) would probably be nice as well.

You get the idea, anyways I think that would help generate interest with new people who have never tried it and also avoid annoying people if they start to like it then see the price go up.

Is there any seats for FT? The main reason for me to play VF in the arcade is not because I have to stand there and insert a couple coins to begin. CTF's Versus Cabinet and seats attracted me to play VF /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Okay, even it costs three coins and no seats, I will still play FT in PA since I am addicted to VF series /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif But having seats over there will be more encouraging /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

About the location, PA was the place where my friend, who dragged me into VF series, used to play VF3 and Virtua Striker 2. So I know that place, and have to say it has a larger space, more clean, and stronger light than CTF. But its location doesn't make me too happy because I have to transfer several times to get there. If possible, I definitely want to see FT setup in CTF.

Maddy visiting NYC on Labor day Weekend

Hi, NYC VFers. I will be visiting NYC on the labor day weekend. The purpose of the visit is not VF though. I am going there with my family for sightseeing.

However, I been trying to get myself excused for an evening for some VFing with all the VF players at CTF.
I don't know when I am going to be able to make it, but I am thinking of maybe on Sat evening. I am looking forward to seeing lots of people there.

Can someone give me the address of the CTF? I will try mapquesting from the hotel to CTF although I yet know where I am going to be staying.

The address to Chinatown Fair is 8 Mott St. The best time to go is Friday night, but I'm sure some of the guys would meet up otherwise.

Looks like I'm going to miss you, I'll be in the Charlotte area for a wedding on Labor Day weekend.

Re: Maddy visiting NYC on Labor day Weekend

I think Shag said it's easier to find people on Friday than other nights. Some people get there are early as 6pm and there's usually a crowd until at least 11pm. It varies of course but Friday's tend to be your best bet.

Also depends on if you're looking for certain people, not everyone plays in the arcade regularly.

hey i know i usually never post in this thread. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am proud of the progress everyone has made. I truly don't think of anyone as a scrub or lucky when I get beat. I simply get beat because you guys are just getting better. Keep up the good work. Raziel nice little streak you had going there for a while. It was well deserved. I can't wait till next weekend. Hopefully we will have brand new sticks and buttons to make this friday night even more incredible. Later!

oh by the way.... I think we should make it customary to get together and eat afterwards when ever we can. I love all you guys, so let's not just make VF the only part of our relationship.

hahaha one more thing. VULCAN, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU MAN. NOT THE SAME WITHOUT YOUR PRESENCE. I KNOW YOUR SECRETLY TRAINING IN A DOJO SOMEWHERE!
