I use Eileen's OM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif if my opponent has the habit of continuing their standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif strings even if I evade the first attack. It is a GREAT punishment tool if your opponent does not hit check on strings.

For instance, let's say you're playing a Lau -- he initiates his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif string. If you evade the first /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and you know your opponent will try to continue the string, take to the opponent's side/back immediately with an OM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. During crumple you're free to bounce and combo:

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

I'm sure some people use this already, I just wanted to set it out for others to see as there isn't a great deal of OM discussion on the forums.

    Wow, nice, Sweep!

Annoyingly, I'm playing against a Goh at the moment, and he doesn't have too many strings like that.

I'm still looking for some input on why my OM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is being interrupted when I'm on the advantage; it just doesn't seem to make sense to me...

this forum molded into "how do use OM effectively" which I'm happy about! From what i'm reading it seems to be a punishment tool. I always assumed that if i dodge the first hit then try to OM after the evade I would get hit. I've also herd that OM to someone's back when they do a rising attack can avoid the FC kick though I haven't been consistent on this anyone know specifics? Eagle_12 was the one who taught me about this tactic.

Wouldnt it be safer to do just sidekick from the side? Ok its not as much damage and 2 frames slower but you get the same side/back crumple and sidekick is lot safer on block. There is some difference between -13 and -6 heh.

With what move? I suspect you arent quite tight enough with the timing of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. I have noticed that it isnt automatically easy thing to do, especially with just a little advantage.

If i understand correctly what you are talking about, this isn't a something associated with OM but with evade in general: some moves are slow enough (& have a large window of active frames) that they hit you after you have successfully evaded eg. vane's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

Now, since this is an eileen thread, which i am not familiar with, but after a quick glance at the frames i suppose /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif must have the same effect.

PS: after looking at her frames and movelist for the first time i just realised Eileen's While Standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a really, really weird move - 15 frame exe kick with 9 active frames? -23 on block? throw punisheable on hit?! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif (how) do eileen players use that move?

Yes it would definitely be the safer move; however, no reason to avoid the bigger damage payoff if you know the opponent will continue their 3-4 hit string without confirming.

    If you're wrong...you're going to get /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif punished. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'm sorry for not being clear; I'll reiterate my problem.

I do a move that gives me +1 on guard. It gets guarded. I then do OM+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, and my opponent uses /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I get hit with the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

I don't think my timing is off (it's never ever worked for me, so if it was a timing issue, you'd think I'd 'get lucky' once or twice) and I don't think my opponent is delaying their /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

The move I am trying it after is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from Zenkuuhon, and the move my opponent does is almost exclusively /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    Thanks for the help, people.

I tested that in training mode on my PS3. Set CPU to block and counter with low punch. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif(blocked) -> OM P or OM K works, the low punch gets interrupted. But like I said its not easy. The problem is that if the game decides you are trying to do defensive move ie. normal evade, it will get interrupted by the low punch I think. So you really have to do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif - neutral+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif Really fast to make sure you really get the OM, especially as theres only one frame advantage.

-12 is throwcounterable, I might hazard a try for 70 pt combo with my Akira myself /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Thats the cartwheel kick away from the opponent. It pushes opponent away and Eileen in the other direction so that I doubt its actually counterable on hit at least. Well not sure, I might ask my friend to help test and see if Akira can buffer a doublepalm for it..
I dont try to use it unless I suspect Ill get a crouching hit and the stagger.

See Pai's cartwheel kick. Eileen's is only slightly less god-tier. It's a great move to use to counter an opponent's normals. It beats almost everything I've seen.

Ah, I see. Thanks; that makes more sense now, and it seems like I'm obviously taking more than the one frame to input the OM command, and so, by the time I am performing OM, I don't actually have the advantage.

    Again, thanks.

After a bit of practice mode, I've found that the OM is more successful if you actually evade to their front. I think this is because, when a character performs a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, they use their front arm, which you are evading towards if you evade to the opponents back.

    (I hope that makes sense).

Basically, if you OM to the back against a DP, you're evading towards the punch, so you're not as 'out of the way' as if you OM to the front.

Not sure if this is of any help, but I figured it can't harm to put it up here.

yeah that makes perfect sense I'll try that more often myself
